  • People moving off too slowly when traffic lights turn green.

It's so frustrating when so few vehicles get through a change of the lights due to slow reactions by so many drivers. Congestion could be reduced if more people got through each time the lights change to green. Many leave huge gaps between themselves and the vehicle in front, far more than is necessary for safety.

I can be at the front of a queue at traffic lights and because I am ready to move off as soon as they change to green, I can often be 200 yards down the road before the vehicle behind me has even started to move. I haven't jumped the lights or broken the speed limit.

I sat in a long queue this morning, but due to the slow reactions of so many in the queue, it was far longer than it needed to be. Far too many dopey drivers on the road, younger as well as older.
Just as annoying are the ones who slow down when approaching green lights, they may or may not get over the lights but following traffic end up on a red which they could easily got over on green if that vehicle had just carried on at normal speed

They are often looking at their phones.
Looking at phones whilst driving should carry an automatic ban for 12 months.

Without the police on the street you can’t enforce it.
  • I am not condoning the use of mobile phones when driving, but given every car manufacturer's reticence to include buttons on in vehicle entertainment units nowadays (Tesla uses an iPad for the control of everything including climate control), how is this any different than using a mobile phone? At least with physical buttons you can keep an eye on where you're going as you change options as you can feel them.
  • Well those screens in car are probably a distraction, but they're positioned in a way that means you can still see the road. People just stare straight down into their laps using their phones.

It's even got an unofficial name - The Whatsapp Gap

That's because it's illegal, so they have to hide them...  :D

(I am not condoning the use of mobile phones while driving, just to be clear)

They wouldn't last 12 month without their phone
  • The program Human fronted by the attractive Ella Al-Shamahi.

She has put up a picture of a Neanderthal that is uncomfortably close to my own self image.  If anything I'm a tad hairier.  Mind you, she did say that she loved a Neanderthal ... or did I imagine that?

Are you a Millwall supporter in disguise.?

  • ‘Just a gentle reminder’…..
well either it’s a reminder or not. Why gentle? Because you fear I may be annoyed that you reminded me? Because you’re worried I might be hurt that you thought I’d forget? Oh do fuck off.
Just a gentle reminder is always followed by some sharp passive aggression. I don't mind that if used in context and sarcasm is entrenched in whoever is delivering the message. When its some nosey slag from the local facebook group, I'm less for it
  • People that miss deadlines, meaning I have to follow up with a reminder...

In waiting room of place that sent me the ‘gentle reminder’ and have just heard the receptionist say she will ‘diarise’ something. It’s been a very long time since I worked in an office. Is this normal now?

Very much so, it demonstrates you being "proactive" 🤮
  • The absolute f**king racket coming over the PA at the womens rugby this evening. No matter how exciting the game, I'd have left at half time rather than put up with that deafening shite

Seems to be the same at most sporting events now. Must think it increases the atmosphere but not for me.

Watching York races this week music blaring out as the horses get back to the winning enclosure.
  • The brightness of headlights on cars now... Its ridiculous

Its like being blinded by the car coming towards you, genuinely have to take my foot off the accelerator at times and coast just to be safe, as cant see the road beyond them in the dark.

Didn't help that everyone kept flashing me with their lights last night, didn't see the problem driving with my full beams on myself... Jokes aside, the general brightness is still a joke!!
yeah who needs bright car lights...

the problem is that people don't dip early enough, or have them correctly set. Found out the other night that my car does automatic dipping, what a world we live in.

Yeah mine isn't automatic, I've got a little scroller thingy to the right of my steering wheel to adjust them, usually have them dipped low when in traffic, and then when its an empty / clear road, I'll have them raised off in the distance.
  • Early kick offs.
  • Sockets on gwr trains but no usb charging sockets. Who wants to carry a three pin plug around with them just to top up their phone?
