An overseas signing being teased on Twitter
No idea what the plane looking element was, it's Sam Northeast

Edit: clearly not a plane, my mind has gone mad
Well he has been playing in a foreign country!

So that's one rumour that was a sound one! That would suggest that Joe Denly won't be signing a full contract because we now have 12 batters (in bold) competing for a maximum of 7 batting slots in red ball:

    DBD
    Northeast
    Billings - white ball only
    Leaning
    Muyeye
Crawley - presumably will be centrally contracted
    Compton
    Evison
    Finch
    Benjamin
    Jaydn Denly
    Jas Singh
    Parkinson
    Dudgeon
    Milnes
    Ekash Singh - rookie contract
    Dawkins - rookie contract
    Flintoff - rookie contract

Thankfully we don't play Glamorgan between now and the end of the season, as knowing the Kent Injury curse, one of our bowlers would probably injure him  :D

SNE will play out the rest of the season, surely Gilchrist will feature for us in the remaining games? It's not as if we have lots of bowling talent to play instead of him.
  • Is Billings contracted beyond 2025? Don’t know if the arrival of SNE affects Kent’s thinking in getting the balance right between having some experienced pros but not too many that the pathway for the younger players is blocked by players aged 30+. With SNE arriving there is an alternative to captain the t20 side and Kent do have options who could keep wicket in the t20 games

I struggle to see the benefit in keeping Billings on

Well he is a very good T20 player and Captain.

I would give Denly a white ball contract, he still has a lot to offer.

I mentioned previously that I would think he will get one though the issue is that he is suffering from more and more injuries and if they happen to coincide with the Blast then he's not going to be bringing that much to the table especially as he hasn't been bowling much (this season - 13 overs in 12 Blast matches at a cost of 9.15 per over with 3 wickets at 39.66 each). Total matches in all forms of the game:

    2025 - 16
    2024 - 15
    2023 - 21
    2022 - 27
    2021 - 29

We have 10 whole days without any cricket whatsoever. Now, one can argue that this is down to us not qualifying for the next stage of the one day cup but there is only one party to blame for this shambles. Seven days of cricket in August for county members and no chance to make the most of the opportunity to sell tickets for a cup match at their home ground. Hampshire have even lost the right to host one.

Yes, what a farce that Hants had to play away. As you say, county members are increasingly short changed. Less and less cricket each season it seems and a fair amount of that is on offer is played in April and September.
Next season there'll be 2 less T20 games and the ludicrous home and away fixtures against teams outside of your group. Hmmm Durham away for a T20 will be fun!
Will members' season tickets be reduced, will players take a pay cut? Of course not so the long suffering member takes the hit financially too.
The game is so badly run. We win the ODI world cup and almost immediately stopped playing it save for those either unlikely to play or rookies. At least when the 16.4 world cup is played we ought to be in with a good shout eh!
Just over a week until the counties return to championship action and they still don't know what they're playing for! What a joke!

Can you bring in new overseas for the T20 quarters ? If so dig deep and contract Donovan Ferreira absolutely smashes the ball

I think that rule was changed after Surrey signed Dwayne Bravo just for finals day. Used to be able to.

Mo Rizvi has had his deal extended until the end of the season
  • Makes sense - for the upcoming t20 game in particular Kent need all bowling options possible

Cant see him playing t20, its a quarter final, we are well stocked in spinners, who would he play instead of?

Maybe they want to try Rizvi out in the county championship.
  • Kent’s statement says Rizvi will be available for the t20 campaign so you would think he must be under consideration. There must be some injury concerns about Stewart and I don’t really know what the situation is with Gilchrist. Parkinson did not play the final couple of one day games so I do not know if there is anything in that or if it was just a case of him being rested.

Gilchrist will sensibly go on loan to Warks for the remainder of the county championship, but is available for us in the Blast.

First of the QFs tonight. A very entertaining innings from Bopara (105*) helping Northants to set a very healthy target off 14 overs (155).

Surrey currently 13/2 off the first 2 overs.

I hadn't realised he was still playing! 105 from 46 balls, against that Surrey attack is super impressive.

To be fair Sanderson bowled superbly at the end but why Sam Curran felt duty bound to hit at least three balls that were going down the leg side I do not know.
