Jones, Ramsay, Bell, Gillesphey, Bree and Burke is six players for three positions. We should be ok?

That leaves us slightly short at CB, as you have Gillesphey/Bell and Bree effectively covering 2 positions.
    Gillesphey and Bell LCB
    Burke and Jones CCB
    Ramsay and Bree RCB
even Edwards can do a job should be fine

But one of Gillesphey and Bell is also the left wing back cover, and one of Ramsay and Bree is also the right wing back cover.

Well yeah but unless you lose a CB and a WB at exactly the same time there's plenty of options to mix and match it up. There's also the option of playing someone like Rankin-Costello at WB in an absolute pinch.

We might end up with a bit of a makeshift defence once or twice but it would take some extremely bad luck for us to be badly affected for an extended period.

Lloyd Jones and Ramsey have both had spells injured in both of the last two years iirc. Burke is clearly very injury prone.

Don’t suppose there’s any chance of signing a free agent like Patrick Bamford for a bit of height and Championship know how?
One of the most overrated strikers I’ve seen and to think he got an England cap.

Were Jones and Ramsay out injured at the same time?

They missed 6 games together last season.  For us to not be able to put out a good back 5 we would need at least 5 injuries in the back line due to the versatility and depth we have. What are the chances that we suffer 5 defensive injuries all at the same time which is just not going to happen.

Bree a panic signing? He’s far more proven than Fukuda.

Can get that Fukuda was probably our first choice but calling a player who has played over 200 championship games 20 prem games as a 27 year old who knows the manager as a panic signing is clueless

Is Bree’s loan deal to January relevant to Fakuda?
Perhaps we wanted the half season loan to plug the gap until Fakuna arrives. If Bree does well or Fakuda gets injured between now and then, we switch targets to the Saints man, who is out of contract in a year, signing him on a longer term deal.
If not, he heads off and the Japanese player arrives.

Bree not a panic buy by a long shot .. in fact a safer bet then Fukuda who no one knows if he would settle and how long it would take ??

"Oh no, we have to make do with an experienced defender who has worked with the manager before! We're doomed, doomed I tell you!"

I was going to say what is that journalist talking about saying Bree is a panic signing. But when you read the article, it's a Charlton fan saying it. Odd way of looking at the signing of an experienced player.

Load of nonsense.  Bree a panic signing having been signed by Jokes before, having played his career in the Championship and Premier League, and with Southampton fans sad to see him go.  The only sadness in that signing, is that it isn't permanent.
Fukuda is an unknown quantity playing in a poor league who could very well have turned out to be a complete flop had we signed him.

Cannot believe I am reading someone saying we Panicked into getting Bree, the guy has prem and championship experience and worked with jones previously…  we have some totally clueless fans don’t we? I have no doubt in my mind that the person being asked hadn’t heard of Fukuda 3 months ago and hasn’t seen a single minute of him playing bar YouTube highlights.

Joe Pigot once of this parish and still only 31 years old has joined Folkestone Invicta

So he was training with us for a bit, we offered him a deal but he saw the offer as a bit of a low ball, we didn't offer him what he felt he wanted/deserved. Rejected it and waited for another opportunity and signed for Bolton at the start of the month.

Tallies with the idea that Small left for similar reasons. Clearly we actually have a decent wage structure and plan in place now

The interesting thing is how quiet that was kept. No information leaked about our interest in Christie, despite him training with us.

Did fans even know he was training with us? I completely missed it.

Seems like he was an alternative to Bree. Think we've got the better player tbh

Christie has Jamaican heritage on his father's side, and his mother is of Lebanese ancestry.[6]

    All makes sense now
