Actually someone has pointed out the Covid side was our youngest ever (the game Seb almost ended up playing in) but that team had Heino Kuhn in the top six and would have been older than today's.0
-
Poor shot from Ekansh - the eyes lit up and he tried to hit him over the top only to be bowled by Hartley for 4 (15)
231-5 (58.4)1 -
238-5 (64) at tea
Evison 8* (20)
Finch 5* (22)
1 -
Three quick wickets - Finch caught down the legside off Wells with the keeper standing up for 22 (67), Rivzi chops on for a three ball duck off the same bowler and finally Evison caught at slip off Hartley for Evison 22 (58)
274-8 (78.3)
1 -
6 wickets lost for 57 runs in total1
-
Quinn, with a bit of an innings where he demonstrated that skill of knowing all the shots but not necessarily to the ball that has been delivered, is bowled for a single.
278-9 (82)1 -
This is only Mitchell Stanley's second FC game (both against us) but, such is his promise, I fully expect him to be named in the Ashes squad. Well he is tall and quick and that meets all the criteria required.0

293 all out
Cohen 2* (6)1 -

According to social media, Muyeye will have a concussion substitute. That hasn't been confirmed by Kent but it really wouldn't surprise me.0

1) Promise shown by Denly , Ekansh and Dawkins. I’d hope that a couple of them can cement themselves for next season in the top 6, although the batting should have decent depth.
2) Ben Compton
3) it’s nearly over2 -
45-2
A wicket each to Quinn and Evison with both being catches to Dawkins at first slip
2 -
Joe Denly has come into the side for the concussion victim Muyeye which is interesting given that he wasn't in the squad originally but Benjamin, for example, was.0
-
Our four slips at one point were Dawkins (18), Jaydn (19) Flintoff (19) and Curtiss (18). I would defy anyone to find a slip quartet younger than that in the history of the county championship let alone one for Kent CCC.
Flintoff and Curtiss were sub fielders for Parkinson and Joe Denly who, as mentioned, is the concussion sub for Muyeye but was a seemingly late call up as he's only just come onto the field.0 -
Parkinson bowls Harris with a great ball
114-3 (32)1 -
118-3 (34) at lunch1

If we had been away at Durham, I imagine we would have just gone with whoever was there.0 -

Quinn bowls Hurst
165-41 -
Parkinson gets the prized wicket of Wells, well caught by Finch followed by Quinn having Jones caught and bowled
175-6 (46.1)
2 -
Quinn picks up his fourth wicket, trapping Balderson LBW. If it's a straight shootout for a new contract then he is somewhat ahead of Cohen in that regard.
188-72 -
I hope he doesn’t get one though, same story every season with Quinn, time to move on0
-
Parkinson has his third wicket as Bailey is caught by Jaydn at slip
195-8 (55.1)1 -

Looking forward to next season, we have, hopefully, two overseas quicks (including Dudgeon) coming plus Milnes, Stewart, Jas Singh and Evison - that's six seamers with probably the scope for, perhaps, two/three more to be signed or re-signed (Quinn, Garrett, Cohen and Klaassen are all of contract). We will also, presumably, be looking to sign another spinner be that Rizvi or someone else.0 -
A case of all we've seen time and time again in allowing the tail to wag.
254-8 (72) at tea and a deficit of 39.1 -
Jaydn come on to bowl after tea and breaks the partnership by trapping Williams LBW
260-9 (74.4)3 -
Parkinson takes the final wicket of Hartley, caught by Ekansh
284 all out and we have a lead - of 92 -
In the absence of the injured Compton, who didn't field today, Dawkins has joined Jaydn in opening.0
