Or a contract extension0

TC contract extension surely0

Think it will be LB cover. Imagine Edwards injury was a bad one…1

Maybe not!
Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of Cuban international Onel Hernández. The experienced wideman has put pen to paper on a short-term contract until January 2026.Hernández joins the Addicks following a successful seven-year spell at Norwich City, where he made over 200 appearances across all competitions and starred in two Sky Bet Championship promotion-winning campaigns.Hernández said: "I’m really happy to be here. I’ve known the coach for a long time and I’ve played against his teams. He’s a very good coach who knows what he wants from his players."As soon as I had a conversation with Nathan, I knew straight away that it was something I wanted to be a part of."Manager Nathan Jones added: "Onel brings real good Championship experience. We’ve had a look at him as he’s been training with us for a few weeks and he’s got wonderful athleticism and real one-v-one quality."We felt that we just wanted to add in that department. We’ve got TC [Tyreece Campbell], we’ve got [Rob] Apter, we’ve got Ibby [Fullah] who can do that but we just wanted to bring a bit of Championship experience in terms of the one-v-one ability. He’s come in, he’s looked sharp and he’s shown his quality."Born in Morón, Cuba, Hernández moved to Germany aged six and began his professional career at Arminia Bielefeld, before enjoying spells at Werder Bremen II and Wolfsburg II.Following two seasons with Eintracht Braunschweig, he joined Norwich in January 2018 and quickly became a fan favourite at Carrow Road. The wideman, who has also enjoyed loan spells at Middlesbrough and Birmingham City, earned his first cap for Cuba in March 2021 against Guatemala and scored his inaugural international goal against Curaçao on his second appearance.1 -

Not really a better place for this but Cawley has done an article about what Fukuda is like as a player

It's an interesting situation, if we were looking to bring him in on a free in Jan, now that Bree has done well.
Do we try to extend Bree's stay, maybe sign him permanently, do we sign Fukada still, or do we get both?
Good dilemma to have though - rather 'there are two possible decent players we might sign' rather than 'who is the cheapest freebie/loan' like some recent seasons.0 -

Unless something has happened with Apter I can only see it being one or other we sign in January (if any at all.)0 -
Can see us going in for Bree and telling Southampton this is how much we’re willing to pay if they’re too stubborn we go pick up Fukuda instead either way have strong interest in both gives us a good bargaining chip to try and get the other for cheaper0

Fukuda will need time to settle and adjust to life in England and football over here too. If he signs in January I wouldn't be surprised to see him either used pretty sparingly anyway, or even sent out on loan to a League 1 side potentially to see how he does.0

Anyone else think the fact Cawley is doing a piece on him means we're probably in for him, or is Rich just filling a gap with the international break? If he's been told that deal is dead in the water in the summer, I can't imagine he'd waste column inches on it...3

Clubs get paid if their players go to a World Cup…
We sign Fakuda, he hopefully earns a place in the Japan Side and we earn a bit of dosh.
