Still, looking forward to tonight's League Cup game v West Ham. It's kind of a free hit, so it'll be interesting to see what kind of team we put out.0 -
At least we know Siber is alive0 -
7 changes for us. Although a couple like McAteer for Muya could be argued make us stronger. Not really sure how strong West Ham have gone. Should be a good test anyhow.0

Interesting. Wonder if it's a shape change to 433 with Newsham, Skeels, Pearse and Lobato aas a 4, Bradley, Ross and Kenney in the middle and McAteer and Siber wide of Fitzgerald. I hope so because we've been losing the midfield every game so far. Or it could just be old faithful 343 again, possibly with Bradley at WB but I really hope not. Looking forward to seeing what Siber and McAteer can offer tonight0

Tonight's a good chance for several players who haven't been involved much (or at all, in some cases) to show Karen Hills they deserve to start.1 -
343 with Fitzgerald as the left wing back at the moment.0

Son's doing the music tonight. Says the floodlights are brilliant (literally & figuratively).0

Difficult to pick out any positives from that. I liked the way Lucia Lobato at least tried to carry the ball forward out of defence (though she lost the ball badly doing that once or twice), and Frankie Finlayson snapped into some tackles well when she came on, but others who got their chance from the start, like Mary McAteer and Lucy Fitzgerald, didn't do themselves any favours. Charlotte Newsham, again our main attacking threat, came off at half-time and had an ice pack strapped to her leg – we'd better hope she's OK.
Fundamentally we're just so slow, both in terms of actual pace and in decision-making. It's almost never one-touch football, and often when we take a touch it's not controlled enough so our opponents can step in and win it off us. Then, if we do get into a promising position, it looks like we have no clear idea of what we want to do and we waste it. Apart from the penalty we only really created one chance, when Newsham broke into the box after a nice through ball and the keeper managed to save it.
Around this time last year we gave Tottenham a decent game in this competition, only losing to a really good late goal. This West Ham side is worse than that Spurs team, but tonight they were comfortable throughout, albeit two of their goals were worldies. Even if you argue this wasn't our first-choice team, I think that says something.3 - Sponsored links:

In case anyone was wondering the Chesham game isn't postponed, it's cancelled and Chesham are awarded a walkover. Fair enough given that it was our fault it can't be played and the National League can hardly postpone the knockout rounds while they wait for us to sort out whatever the issue is, but a shame for both sets of players who have a blank Sunday through no fault of their own.

4 other WSL Vs WSL2 ties tonight.
Liverpool beat Sunderland 5-0
Leicester beat Ipswich 5-1
Brighton beat Portsmouth 2-0
London City beat Palace 2-1
In terms of the game. Losing Newsham was a big blow, McAteer got moved back to right wing back and Muya went in as the attacking right sided player. Neither covered themselves in glory and that side was constantly exposed.
Thought Fitzgerald was better when Hutton came on and she was moved further forward. Kenney showed some nice footwork at times, but when the last 2 changes happend she moved deeper with Barratt going up front and thought the game then passed her by. She had also been doing a better job of holding it up.
I'd be interested in the tactics of our press. Far too often only 1 player pressed and West Ham easily passed it round them. Pressing with just 1 player seems pointless and it just ended up leaving West Ham with easy opportunities to build from the back with 1 of our players out of position.2 -

Also, this rugby kick off. I've seen us do it 4 times, Ipswich once and West Ham once. On all 6 occasions it's just resulted in giving the opposition the ball.0 -
