Rare error from Skeels there but we've weathered it. That's a brilliant away win considering the investment Newcastle have made over the summer. We were good enough up to the goal that if we'd carried on playing that way I think we could have got a second but we retreated into the shell after that and trusted the defence and keeper and we were never too troubled apart from right at the end where Whitehouse saved us. One thing we did really well was shithousing Newcastle's dangerous players when they came on. Hayles got absolutely outfoxed by our defenders and we let them get frustrated and their threat petered out. It's not a particularly inspiring watch this team but if we keep grinding out 1-0s then we can't really complain. Just a shame we didn't show up against a very rubbish Ipswich side the other day

That’s an excellent three points away from home

That's big. After the week we've had, to go to Newcastle and win (even with their poor start) shows great resilience. I was only able to watch the second half, but Elisha N'Dow was excellent and Sophie Whitehouse was again there when we really needed her - like the men, we're really hard to break down.

Sunderland will be a big test next weekend as they've started well. Gillian Kenney must think football is only played in London and the north east

Missed the 2nd half, so glad we got the win.
    Thoroughly deserved 👏🏻👏🏻

In a smaller league like this where there's only 22 games and 66 points up for grabs, every win is huge, and whilst we've not been pretty so far, 10 out of 12 points is a great start. Another big test in Sunderland next week

Having received my digital season ticket it hasn't worked for the two games.

The ticket office has told me there are problems. (I suspect it has to be "loaded" for each game and they don't know how to do it.)

    Plastic replacement arrived today.

    Ha - great minds, @fenaddick!
  • Bottom of the table Sheffield United have mutually parted company with their Head Coach Ash Thompson.

He had been suspended, and his assistant had been in charge this season. Although the reason for the suspension was never made public: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c5yvdz5rlglo
  • 5 Oct: Sunderland, away, 2pm. At the Stadium Of Light. £10 adult, £8 over-65 or under-22, £5 under-18. Tickets from here.
    12 Oct:
Sheffield United, home, 2pm. At the Valley. £7 adult, £5 over-65, £2 under-18. Tickets from usual website.
    19 Oct:
Portsmouth, league cup, home, 12 noon. At the Valley. £8 adult, £5 over-65, £2 under-18. Tickets from usual website.
26 Oct: week off, international weekend. England play friendlies against Brazil at the Etihad Sat 25th and Australia at Derby Tues 28th. England under-23 play Portugal at Northampton Mon 27th. Tickets are on general sale from the Wembley website.
2 Nov: Birmingham City, away, 2pm. At St Andrews. £10 adult, £8 senior or under-25, £5 under-18. Tickets from here.

The Birmingham ticket site asks you to specify if you're buying home or away, but doesn't change which seat it offers you if you choose away. In the past we've always found it was sit-anywhere in practice, but just in case they decide to ask people to sit in the right seats, be aware that many of the seats right at the front in the main stand lower section, i.e. the bit they're selling, have a seriously obstructed view due to the dugouts being right in front. Choose seats near the back, just in case it ends up making a difference.

Big game today as well seeing as Sunderland are unbeaten like us, could be a proper statement with another away win up in the North East

    Stream is rubbish.
Keeps cutting out & then has a timer on it where I can only watch 3mins before it cuts out again.
    Now it's gone completely

Stream is working OK for me, though it sometimes jumps backwards or forwards a few seconds

1-0 at half-time. Largely comfortable enough, though Sunderland came back into a bit as the half went on.

Very strange, making 3 subs when they're well on top.
    Interesting.
