Fantastic team performance from 20 minutes onwards. Made Blackburn look ordinary and they didn’t have a meaningful attack all game. Gillesphey was fighting for his place and playing out of his skin.Jones is a centre back of real quality. Carey Coventry all putting in proper shifts.
Jones is getting a tune out of what on paper are mediocre players. Kelman will come good believe me.
Travel to Derby with a spring in my step

Everything I hoped for and more. We’ve been threatening to do that to someone all season, but to see it made reality was exhilarating.

Feared my hopes were going to fall flat after the opening 15 minutes in which we looked a little edgy. Once Gillesphey scored, though, we never looked back. Bit of a marker performance and result. Blackburn aren’t anything special, but it rubber stamps the idea that we are well at home at this level and confidence should now be sky high in the squad.

No one had a bad game, but I thought Doc was great again, Coventry more visible in attack while nullifying their danger man, Gillesphey changed the game, and Tanto was a menace off the bench.

    Lovely stuff.

Magnificent result. Could've been 6-0. There were times in the second half where it looked as if Blackburn had given up and they were under a spell. Bring on Derby ..

Great win. Currently stood near the spot of Macca’s Wembley winner waiting for Oasis.
    Charlton vibes in the area

Best performance and result of the season so far.

Looked the better team throughout other than the opening 15 or so, but then took another step up after 60 when the subs were made.

Olaofe has earned a start now for me. Leaburn potentially as well.
  • First 20 minutes was diabolically terrible from both teams. Thankfully we managed to get out of first gear, Blackburn never did.

Tanto has to start ahead of Campbell now, much more direct and better pressing. Made both the second and third.

Watched kelman warm up and really looked like he couldn’t hit a barn door.

Gillephey changed the game when he came on, his aggression just lifted the game out of the malaise it was in. Won everything in the air and on the ground.
Good point re: Gillesphey. He came on and immediately won 2 balls in the middle of thr park in quick succession to put/keep us on the front foot
  • I don't know if we were good or not but fuck me Blackburn looked Sunday league and didn't have one strong position on the pitch imo. If we came away only 1-0 winners I would have been very disappointed. Finally we put 3 past a team and it could have been more.

We never needed to bring 'protection' off the bench and felt we could have brang even more attacking players on to put more past them. Well done the boys and NJ for getting the job done. UTA UTA UTA.
Their number 10 was awful as well, spent the entire game whining and losing the ball.

  • A fantastic win.
Every player played well and we could have easily won by 4 or 5.
A few words about the ref.
    ABSOLUTELY FUCKING USELESS.
We've had some crap refs but without doubt he was by far the worst.

An immense 70 minute performance after a shaky start.

Some unbelievable performances especially second half. Bree and Burke, fantastic as was Carey. Another great performance from Doc. Thought Olaofe was great when he came too.

man of the match though Macauley Gillesphey.

changed the game for us when he came on. Calmed us down, scored a goal then didn’t put a foot wrong for the rest of it. Class!

    up the reds!!!
  • 'Struggling' Charlton, up to 7th!
I went to watch my son in law play in the FA Cup preliminary round today and one of his mates said how Charlton were struggling (this from a Man U fan 😅😅😅). He had a different opinion after our short but firm discussion 🤣🤣

Looking forward to the extended highlights. We're above Millwall on goal difference, 1 point ahead of Birmingham and 3 points ahead of Wrexham. The only things that take the shine off the day are the injury to Josh Edwards (how bad did it look?) and a certain very late goal that had live commentary on Final Score.
It looked like an impact injury to his ankle, hopefully not ligament damage🤞. He was hobbling and continued to take a long throw just after but then went down again and was subbed. However the reshuffle worked out to our favour with Bell going to WB and Macca LCB scoring not long after coming on.

To a man, manager and support - unreal.

Squeaky bum after jones’ challenge after the yellow. But apart from that, yet again, their attack had nothing for our defence.

Leaburn and tanto caused chaos / mayhem. Love it.

Can only seeing us winning the league now 😂🙃

"Gabriel Brener was here to witness that today. Out on the pitch chatting with Jim Rodwell at the moment."

He must be thinking that it was a bit of a no Brener to invest in us

Good to see Brener there today, still a bit dubious of him, given the views from Houston Dynamos fans when he was first rumoured to be involved in the takeover. But given the scenes involving him when greeting Nathan Jones at the top of the Wembley steps, well its clear he cares.
  • Great second half, they look f@cked, we could have played for another 45.

    Substitutions were all spot on.

    Cov and Doc were immense.

Had that awful feeling we would concede after Burke missed that sitter, but today was finally our day when the chances did hit the back of the net.

    Quality.

I thought that first half was grim watching, both sides mediocre but second half we really stepped up, subs were superb, Blackburn were absolutely pitiful was like watching a school match where we playing the kids 2 years below the ease and consistency with which we just took the ball back off them, very nice goals, have loved Carey’s work this season and 2 assists + a goal in 2 games for Bree.

    Up the addicks

Wasn't there today, really wish I had been. So pleased for everyone, but particularly for Gillesphey.

Ismael is complaining that they should have had a penalty for a Jones handball - anything in it?
  • Superb win. More than holding our own in this league. Great result.

What summed this result up for me was all the Championship podcasts had Blackburn beating us today. We just absolutely schooled them in that second half. Will be interesting to see what they have to say for that result and performance tomorrow/Monday.

Now come on Europe, cap it off this evening and shut them yank hecklers right up.

Ref had a good view, not that that means much today. Think we had much more to complain about the ref than they did.

It hit his arm as he slid to stop the cross. He was very close to the player who hit the cross so no time to react.
Would be very harsh. Blackburn commentators said it was definitely a penalty but of course they would. The right decision was made by the ref.

Leaburn and Olaofe have to start next game. TC fluffed so many chances today and as I say he doesn’t look like ever scoring. Kelman just as ineffective too tbf.

    We stay up comfortably imo.
Kelman played well , nice turn and shot he needs Olaofe next to him
