When was the last time we scored more than 1 league goal?
TODAY, TODAY, TODAY!7 -
Looking forward to seeing the post match interview from the Blackburn manager and the excuses regarding how they were robbed, bound to be some, truth is they got off very lightly at 3-0 and the scoreline flattered them greatly.
First 20 minutes were touch and go for both teams, with them slightly on top it must be said, after the unfortunate injury to Edwards resulting in his substitution with Macca came a renewed strength and resolve, and it was no surprise when Macca headed home a brilliant goal at the far post, a header made to look regulation but was everything but.
So 1-0 half time, second half arrived with a burst of aggression on our part, and we should have increased our lead by at least a couple of goals, long before Carey's exocet from 20 yards out after a nice assist from Tanto, that left the keeper grasping in thin air, and the third was another nice finish from Bree, a man quickly cementing a place Ramsay will have to fight for.
So 7th spot it is and we go again Tuesday up at Pride Park where Derby County are our hosts, going for a hat trick of wins, and who's to say we won't get that result...COYR4 -

Great result, well deserved. Great to see the use of subs earlier, at around 60 minutes, and really make a difference3

Games are won in midfield and Doc and Coventry were immense15

At the match. referee was truly awful. If Blackburn should have had a penalty, we should for take down of Campbell.really good sub management with 2 games in a week. 60 min leaburn and olafe. What brilliant players to bring on. Excellent choice to replace jones and Carey, both on yellows, to protect them and Ramsey played a part in the goal when he came on, excellent work down the right.Excellent atmosphere, great win (considering we don’t usually do that well against Blackburn at home).6

Ismael is complaining that they should have had a penalty for a Jones handball - anything in it?9 -
Forgot it was Valerien Ismael. The absolute king of vertical football and physical battles being won getting schooled by the god of it8

What a great afternoon. I was a little worried for the first 20 minutes, with Blackburn’s crisp passing and their two tricky Japanese forwards, who looked lively. We saw that phase out and gradually got on top with some very decent combination forward play. The goal machine that is Macauley Gillesphey - a man possessed when he entered the fray - put us ahead and only a fine save from their goalie kept out another good header from Lloyd Jones just before half time.
Our lads came out fired up for the second half and dominated proceedings. Things really ramped up when Leaburn and Tanto entered the fray, although when their goalie saved a Carey sizzler and Burke somehow put the rebound over the bar, the concern was that could prove a pivotal moment. Not a bit of it. Leaburn’s and Tanto’s bullying of Blackburn’s defenders went into overdrive and Sonny Carey unleashed his inner Bobby Charlton with the second goal. James Bree’s calmly taken finish was the icing on the cake.
A tremendous afternoon. Kaminski was rarely troubled and Blackburn - a team which finished 8th last season - failed to create a single chance. Our display also went some way towards allaying concerns about our lack of goals at this level.

Was sat not far away from Brener and his wife.
It was great to see when the first goal went in the smile on his face particularly as he looked around and saw all our fans celebrating and he seemed to love that.
At the end of the game his wife was singing along to the Red Red Robin.
Seems they both loved their time at the Valley today.

Superb performance.
our pressing was unreal today, dominated the midfield and should’ve had more. We’ve got some real threat from the bench and some are having to bide their time for a chance.
their time will come as we’ll rack up yellows and suspensions before you know it at this rate
hope Edwards is ok but Macca was excellent when he came on, Bell is so casual it’s unreal - class act though!
We’ve signed some real quality it’s clear and I’m definitely looking up rather than down that’s for sure10 - Sponsored links:

Second game running where you could make a case for almost every player to get MOM. Which is really something. But I’ll go for Gillesphey, because to come on and play like that from the get-go after being overlooked as he has since the play-off winner, that’s the epitome of a “professional” footballer.45

I’ve been critical of TC but I thought he done okay today? Seemed to get us up the field well and was unlucky with his effort…I was genuinely surprised he was taken off but do appreciate that there’s a game on Tuesday4

PWR. Cracking afternoon at The Valley than can give us all hope that we're in for a good season. Everyone playing their part in what looked like an easy win in the end. It was a game in three phases really. The first twenty minutes were fairly even and fairly hard going. They had more possession but we remained solid throughout. Then, at about the time they looked to be running out of ideas, Edwards was out of it and we had had an enforced set of fresh legs. Soon after that new man Gillespie put us in the lead. Phase two saw us playing out the rest of the half comfortably in control of the game. The third phase came in the second half where we stepped up a gear and they simply couldn't cope. With a bit more luck or composure we could have had twice as many goals, 3-0 not flattering us in any respect. For me, the two most telling moments were on 60 and 78 minutes. The first when both teams made a double-substitutions; theirs looking like a desperate attempt to turn turn things around (ironically taking off two of their better looking players), ours a luxuriant change of forwards that demonstrated the strength of our bench, bringing on a couple of real handfuls after their defenders were tiring through being given the run around. The second was the look of their team after Carey's wonder strike. They genuinely looked like they had no idea how to deal with us. You could see the little cogs going in their minds; 'we can't sit back because we'll never crack that defence without going all out attack; we can't attack because they probably won't crack anyway and they'll just beat us on the break. In the end they somehow deigned to neither attack or defend in any meaningful way and just crumbled. It was delicious to watch. Nice to hear the Red Red Robin ringing out at the end. Up the Addicks!19

That was rather lovely wasn't it? I went into the game not really having any expectations other than the fact this game will be a good representation of what a chunk of the league will be, and it turns out that "Struggling" Charlton are anything but that! Thought the attendance was pretty decent, and the atmosphere was excellent throughout. There was a 15/20 minute period in the first half where we were both cancelling each other out and actually felt a bit flat.. Josh's injury doesn't look good and credit to the guy for wanting to carry on too, but you could tell instantly that it's a concern.
Up steps Macca who put on one of the best substitute displays you're going to see for a while, he didn't show any signs of not being match fit and looked more than alert and ready, I'm so happy he scored quickly as it makes a huge statement! Still think he'll struggle to get in but he may get a few games if Josh is out for a while to certainly make his mark and give Jones a headache.
Second half though, we just clicked. We looked unplayable at times and caught Blackburn off guard completely, dispossessing them and creating constant attack after attack, Kelman showing glimpses again and TC looking hungry for a goal too, luck didn't fall their way today but I like their contributions and wearing their backline down
Tanto and Miles just look like an absolute nightmare for opposition though, they were so full of energy and just ripped them up completely. Special credit to Tanto for that 2nd goal and a few other moments too when he just was fantastic.
What I'm going to take from this result is that it's a massive team result, everyone just played so well together and really seem to be all in sync together. I'm not going to let myself get carried away, but I think this and the last 2 games have shown that we've got that spark together now, yes we're going to lose some games, but we're going to win a lot of games too now and play damn well each time too. I think we're in for a great season together
Can we stop singing about going up into the Premier League though please!22
