She's certainly knocking on the door of the top players. BUT she needs to start converting the match points, as the same happened in her previous loss.

Not going great in this set so far, as happened before when she failed to convert several match points. Maybe needs to be a better in tie breaks?

Whilst getting to match points against the top players is great, this capitulation after not converting match points is very poor. Whilst she might adjust to the tension of playing the match points, the cumulative affect of missing them may also take a toll mentally. Also opponents will be fully aware of her capitulating in the 3rd, if they can get through the tie break

Those results suggest that it might be both a physical as well as mental thing because, at times such as today, she is playing some of the best tennis of her career but she's not been seeing long matches out.

As I say, it's a combination of the two. Probably mostly mental but she's probably given so much physically, chasing each and every lost cause that it does, eventually catch up. Why else would she lose to 10/14 players outside the top 35 because she certainly has the shots and the game craft to win all of those. 

at the moment she can't compete with the big hitters - no doubt something they are working on

The massive capitulations have come after not converting match points. But she didn't capitulate in the 3rd against Sabalekna. 

It is partly because she is low top 20 quality not top 10. At least she has gone up to 30 now and got no points to defend for the rest of the year

Kartal beaten by Noskova in straight sets. Noskova very impressive.

Good tournament for Kartal.

Norrie loses in straight sets to Learner Tien - hopefully he can pick up a few victories before the season ends.

IF she is ill, that explains why she was losing so convincingly - maybe better it was due to that than mental frailty after missing those match points against Pegula and the previous match and the third set capitulations. No doubt it will mean massive trolling on social media but Li was only 14 places above her and I bet those same trolls didn't troll Andreeva when she lost to Kartal who was considerably lower ranked.
