Hello everyone, and welcome to todays match thread…

So after the enforced mid season international break, we are back in action today when we welcome Sheffield Wednesday to The Valley and a chance to get ourselves back on track with a three point haul after the rather disappointing 2-0 loss at Preston last time out…

Wendies sit one place off the bottom, propped up by their near neighbours Utd. with just the one win from the first 9 games, and in somewhat of a turmoil regarding ownership, so there for the taking it seems, but you know what they say about a wounded animal being dangerous… but if we press home our home advantage and produce a tight controlled performance, there's no reason not to come away with the win today.

Speaking in his pre-match, Jones said: "Matty is closer to returning, and we've been able to get minutes into Berry, Knibbs, and Will, Josh has had a surgical procedure which was the best case scenario, speeding up the recovery process."

The visitors are expected to be without Pierce Charles, Ernie Weaver, Nathaniel Chalobah and Olaf Kobacki.

Head to Head…We've gone toe-to-toe on 62 previous occasions, winning 20, the Owls 26 and the remaining 16 encounters ending all square, Wednesday ran out 1-0 victors when we last met in February 2023, with Liam Palmer netting for the Owls at The Valley…😒

Team news…

Amari’i Bell returns to the starting line-up for today’s game…

The Jamaican international replaces Kayne Ramsay, who moves to the substitutes bench and is joined by the returning Will Mannion.

It means that Reece Burke, Lloyd Jones and Macaulay Gillesphey once again start in a back three in front of Thomas Kaminski.

James Bree and Bell are expected to operate as wing-backs with Conor Coventry, Sonny Carey and captain Greg Docherty making up a three-man midfield behind a front two Charlie Kelman and Tyreece Campbell.

Mannion and Ramsay are joined on the bench by Joe Rankin-Costello, Luke Berry, Harvey Knibbs, Onel Hernández, Rob Apter, Miles Leaburn and Tanto Olaofe.

Charlton: Kaminski; Burke, Jones, Gillesphey; Bree, Coventry, Carey, Docherty (c), Bell; Kelman, Campbell

Subs: Mannion, Ramsay, Rankin-Costello, Berry, Knibbs, Hernández, Apter, Leaburn, Olaofe

Am expecting the same team as before the break. I think this is the game one of our starting strikers will score.

I think someone says that every match, only Tanto so far, would like to see him start

Like to see Olaofe and Kelman up top. Campbell second half with his pace.

Only real thing of note is Mannion & Hernandez making the bench, everything else as expected

Boo hiss. Not a fan of Burke, would rather Ramsay there. Very strong bench.

I’d guess the plan is for Ramsay to start on Tuesday.

Ramsey has to start over Burke esp at home against a team we are expected to beat.

I expect v early second half changes if it isn’t going to plan.

on a side note the pitch looks like an absolute carpet now👌

    I hate it.

Too much space given over to the oppo.

It's not like they're massive or anything ...

Olaofe could come on and score a perfect hat-trick in 3 minutes, and still not get a start.

    Concentrate on this game first.

Strong bench but we said that last game & ended up having to chase the game.

If they can just swing the spinklers round so that they constantly spray water into the Jimmy Seed for the next couple of hours or so that would be grand.

I hope Chef Wendy do the respectful thing and take off their boots before walking on it.

    And no running allowed!

Tickets are pricey. I paid £36.50.

My 1st game of the season so can't complain too much.

I look forward to our 1st Tuesday night at the valley next month

He loves his Luton players . How Burke is in the side ahead of Ramsay is baffling and surely Apter and Tanto deserve a start ?

What's going on in the Jimmy Seed?

The back couple of rows of the lower tier were covered up for the Blackburn game as well.

I know ramsay hasn’t been particularly amazing but I still don’t see how burke gets in ahead of him. I also would have started apter over bree and saved bree for tuesday.

also I understand why bree got the nod over apter but apter is such a talent and I don’t think it’s good for his development to not be playing at all I would still use him as a sub if possible if he’s not starting atm

Issues with the roof or something in the roof above those seats?
