I really don’t get the hate for Wednesday on here. Yes, they have a hooligan element but then again so do most clubs, including us. I have been watching football for over sixty years and they are nowhere near the top of the scumbag league…in my experience that is led by those loveable Scousers. Most of their supporters are normal football fans who love their club in the same way we love ours. One would have thought that after the shitshow we have had to endure over the last ten years that we would some empathy for another club in trouble.

I thought the black and gold was simply because it's the opposite to blue and white in the colour spectrum?
Don't think Wednesday fans have the brain capacity to even know what a colour spectrum is tbf

I asked some Wednesday fans where Chansiri gets his money from and they said it was from the Tuna fish industry.

That’s because you probably haven’t been attacked by dozens of northern fat goons when coming out of Hillsborough ,  while with your kids , which happened to me in when we beat them in Powell’s promotion year . I get that they are not all like that but I’ll never forget how terrified my 12 year old son was when those rabid spitting morons went for the Charlton fans . Utter scum

I think our fans differing views are mainly due to our differing encounters which is understandable.

Even ignoring their thug element I find them insufferably big headed.

A very minor point, but on Saturday a couple of their fans were walking in a direction away from the away end.

Being a helpful sort of bloke I asked if they knew where they were headed and did which was The Bugle.

They then started to tell me how they had sold over 4,000 tickets.
I politely pointed out that the away end holds 3,100 but he wouldn’t have it.
Told me they had sold out & got an extra 500 & had sold 4,000.

He then told me The Bugle would be full of Wednesday fans as all their fans were going there.

No doubt there may have been more than the 2 of them, but I didn’t see any others.

We’ve been to Liverpool/ Everton maybe 20 times, stayed up there on most of those occasions and have always found them friendly.

    Different lived experiences.

Problem is because they got the largest fan base in the world they're bound to have a right mix of people supporting them.

Between Leeds and them then the whole world supports two Yorkshire clubs.

True, but then again I have never been attacked by Millwall supporters either, so they must be wonderful. On the other hand, I have been attacked at Cambridge so they must be a terrifying bunch.
I have seen Charlton supporters gobbing at primary school aged children at Bristol Rovers.

Can you remember the year you got attacked at Cambridge.....had a few mates that got turned over up there around 83-84....they left the game early, lucky for me I stayed to the end.

Yes, it was 1978, a 1-1 draw. It was before the game on the bridge over the railway near the ground. Five of them and two of us. Minor damage received, split lip etc. Managed to land a couple of satisfying blows on them before the police arrived and the opposition retired.

Last season was the first time I had been back there. I was with the same friend. He now lives near Cambridge and we had seats in the home end behind the goal. At the end of the game, we had to walk through happy Charlton fans coming the over way . One of the them, thinking we must be Cambridge supporters tried to get gobby with me until I corrected his supposition.

I'd give up on going there!

Think the comments on this thread were harsh to wish a whole club to go bust (or imply it) because of a few idiots at a club.

Spoke to tens of them on the weekend and they were all great to chat with, fairly level headed, and knew plenty about our struggles, apparently even assisted us with our own protests (how true that is I don't know)

There are always going to be a small minority of fans at clubs that ruin it for the rest, doesn't mean a whole club should be punished for it.

Lived in Sheffield, done the away plenty of times, and of course home games, I have never had an issue in my personal experience. Even if I do with the odd hooligan element, I am not going to wish ill on genuine fans.

Wish them the best, proper supporters.

As for experiences, I've had a cold reception from Watford fans, and Shrewsbury. Hardly clubs of Football Factory element, and not a reason for me to now wish they go into liquidation. Never had issues at any other aways, is it luck, probably, but that's my personal experience.

Funny enough I have had more issues from Charlton fans than anyone else that I have had to defuse, one in particular that seemed quite keen on being aggressive, suppose we are all scum as well then?

I remember them taking The Covered End in 76.
    Mocking our relegation in 99.
Attacking us at Hillsborough in 2014 and many other runs in with the 'orrible northern bastards.

The last time we were relegated it was because the efl didn't deduct their points for breaking the rules in the same season.

I'd be very pleased if they spent the next 20 years in Leagues 1, 2 or non league.
I don't think they took the Covered end. They tried at half time, i remember because my cousin was nicked at the gate behind the West as they tried to get through. The Police kept him overnight so he told his parents he'd stayed at mine.
The following week the Mercury published a list of all those arrested. Oh how we laughed.
I don't remember them taking the Covered End either. I certainly remember the game and they came mob handed.
If that was the FA Cup game they most certainly did take the Covered End. I think by that time the gates were up both sides of the Covered End & no Charlton got in there.

I thought Mr W turned you down quite politely at The Oak, while looking aghast at the notion of being on Tik Tok?

I am not including that at all, and that was completely buried on the day (if you mean from a few weeks ago) :) if I was including being turned down to be on a video, I would be in the hundreds on that front Weegie 😂 and regardless, every person has the right to refuse to be on camera, I wouldn't class that as an incident or conflict.

I am referring to 3 other separate incidents. Won't really speak about them publicly, as they were dealt with at the time, but the point is, if we are gonna brush a whole club based on a few incidents, then we are no better as I have had issues with Charlton fans with them full well knowing I am a Charlton fan.

It is ridiculous to label a club because they have a few dodgy and deluded fans. Which club doesn't? They are in a terrible situation and as we have been in a prolonged terrible situation ourselves until recently, we should show some empathy and support IMO. I wish them the best. Chansiri is a total ******* and we have known a few who have owned us.

Celebrating us going down after they should've had a points deduction is more than enough for me to despise them. Would never wish liquidation on them but hope they go down a couple of times.

Some people on the Jonjo thread complaining about how violent London has become have stated here that football was a far more dangerous experience in the 70s.

    Superb forum entertainment. 👌🏻
