I agree that he should have been given a chance this season before now but I've also been through his motivations on the Gomez thread. He is happy doing what he's doing. His family are settled. He's won countless medals. He's earning a very good living. He's loved by the Liverpool fans for being Mr Reliable when asked to step in. He's also been looked after really well by Liverpool so far as new contracts are concerned despite his history of injury. Yes he is not getting the game time that we think he should have but there is absolutely no guarantee whatsoever that he would be a fixture in any other top PL side or that he would be in the England team.

We can argue 'til the cows come home that he should show more ambition but, until we tread in his shoes, we cannot possibly understand what makes him happy although reading some extensive interviews with him it is clear that he isn't going to be banging on the door to leave. That day will come eventually and that might be in January if Liverpool sign Guehi but it isn't him that has been the driver to do so to date.

The question though was what does he need to do to get a game, and the reality is if he went to someone like Villa, Newcastle, Spurs, even *spit* the freaks down the road, he would have played a lot more, because he would have been playing when fit. His issue at Liverpool is even when he's fit he's been 3rd choice at the very best, but usually lower than that, for the vast majority of his time there. 

No one can categorically state that he would have been fit because the circumstances of any injury sustained are different. Would the fans of those clubs have been as understanding of his injuries when he would have been a vital cog there? Would those clubs have supported him in the way Liverpool have? How many medals would he have won at Villa, Newcastle and Spurs compared to the nine he has including the biggest of all in the Premier League and the Champions League? But the biggest question of all for Gomez is this - would he and his family have been as happy? That is the one that has been his reason for staying. 

We live in a world where every fan complains of the lack of loyalty shown by players. We have one here that has given that loyalty to one club for over a decade and yet we criticise him for doing so. That stay will come to an end, probably sooner rather than later, especially if Liverpool sign Guehi, but he will receive the same reception by the Club and fans alike as Milner does. He has nothing to feel disappointed about because no one can say that he would have done better moving before now for all the reasons I've suggested.

Really refreshing that this season instead of the newly promoted teams being hammered and the newly relegated teams dominating the Championship, we have the newly promoted teams looking very competitive and the relegated teams looking quite ordinary  

Wolves, Forest and West Ham have won two games between them from 27 matches and one of those was when West Ham beat Forest. 

Wolves lack of investment has been their downfall - their net spend over the course of the last seven seasons has been a profit of £34m and almost £100m in the last two years. West Ham had delusions of grandeur when they sacked Moyes (twice) and the Forest owner expects instant gratification and things to be done his way or not at all. Of the three, Dyche might make Forest difficult to beat but it's difficult to see how the other two are going to avoid relegation at present.

Was watching the West Ham penalty turned down by VAR in the first half.
What a joke this system is. It wasn't a penalty as the Newcastle defender just touched the ball with his studs before Bowen fell over. Can understand the ref initially missing it so no complaints there.
What really takes the piss is the VAR ref had to watch it over 10 times before telling the ref to come over and have a look. You probably could tell with the first replay that he touched it. Definitely by the second one. Then, unbelievably, the ref has to watch it 10 times before making his decision!
Wtf! Why didn't the var ref watch it once or twice and then say 'you need to make a decision on this?'
