From about 60 minutes I really thought we would win, and so did the north stand who really got going. We were poor first half but I thought we were good value for the win second half. Not sure how we are going to cope up front if Kelman is out for a while as I don't think any other combination of strikers works, unless Godden comes back soon. Maybe Fullah and TC should be given a chance together, plenty of skill, strength and mobility between the two of them.

Very poor first half added by who was going to take the penalty. Resulting miss was an easy conclusion.

2nd half much better but leaburn and campbell looki completely
out of their depth at this level. 1 goal between them backs this up.

    Onwards and upwatds.

Well I thought i’d come on here and bask in a warm glow and I’m reading that because Lloyd Jones, a 30 year old defender has played very well, we are obliged to sell him, because we are not worthy.

And even better, because an academy kid lights up the game for 15 minutes we should plan for selling him soon to “fund our development”.

Some of you need to grow a fucking backbone.
Oh come on Prague be realistic.

This boy looks to be a very special talent. If he carries on developing at the current rate some PL team is going to think he's worth a gamble on. They can offer him 10 times the money we can and his head will soon be turned.

It's s**t but that's just the football world we live in today.
Of course young talent has always been difficult to keep. But before social media persuaded a lot of fans that they are all business- savvy as well as data experts, we could at least expect a full season before fans started worrying about someone being sold..

Ibby Fuller hasnt completed one fucking game!!!

Brilliant way to win a game. And NJ is right, another player might have looked for an out ball but not the Ginger Genius, turned inside the player and struck it hard and low and in it went. As they say, if you don't shoot you don't score.

We were poor first half but improved a lot second half. Neither Leaburn and certainly not Campbell were at the races. Nothing stuck up front.

Thought Hernandez had a decent game but didn't really have the chance to get forward as much as I'd have liked. Lloyd Jones was imperious. I'm glad in a way he's 29, I don't think a PL side would take a punt on him, thankfully. He'll just have to settle on being a Charlton legend. Coventry was immense too. Carey had a good game too, always forward thinking.

Outstanding cameo by Fullah, going to be some player. Thought Tanto made a real difference too.

I'm not sure why but Ramsay seems a pale shadow of his former self and for some reason him and Bree didn't seem on the same wavelength, especially first half.

The upcoming two week break will give a good rest for some players whilst got to hope we get one or two of the injured players back.

Finally, got to love this team. Don't know when to give up. Even if we don't play well you know they will dig in, keep going and we will hopefully take that one chance that will come out way. It might not be pretty at times but who cares. I don't.

Should have mentioned in my summary just how immense Lloyd Jones was but he’s so good all the time it’s a given. He’s relentlessly good.

Watching on tv you could see NJ looking for someone to hug as the team congregated on the touchline. He was like a virgin in a brothel.

    Edit.

At the time I thought it was NJ but perhaps it wasn't as he seems to be in the middle of it all. Anyway....there was one of the coaching staff looking for someone to hug !
  • Kaminski’s save is why he is No.1.

Cracking result - first 30 WBA showed they are a better footballing team than us, turning the ball over much quicker and comfortable in their movement.  I thought from the start of the second half we were the better team.

the grit and resilience this team are showing is first class.  We are playing to our strengths.  If we tried to get the ball down and move it in a similar to way in which WBA were in the opening 30, I don’t think we’d have anywhere near our points total.  We graft, we press, we’re physical and we make it hard for teams.  Long may it continue, even it means not seeing as much of the ball in periods.  This is off the back of losing two good defenders on Sat and Edwards having been out for a while now.  Fair play to the way the lads adapted, always putting the work in.

the two standout players for me tonight were Jones overall, he was a rock in the first half, and a great clearance in the second, motm for me.  And of course Carey.  We haven’t had a midfielder like him since Kinsella, possibly Holland.  Someone who will take the shot on and can actually deliver.  A great signing and well on the way to becoming a cult hero and young enough to potentially make it further in the game.  We’ve been starved of a player like him for 25 years.  Compare him to some of the dross who people thought could play that role like that utter clown Alex ‘I think there’s a player in there’ Gilbey.  So refreshing to see it.

Pumped for Wrexham now, why can’t we go there and frustrate them and even nick another win

Come on folks. With a performance that good, he deserves to have his name spelled correctly! Fullah not Fuller :)

Brilliant subs from Jones. Transformed the game. Sonny Carey our main threat most of the game. Really, Leaburn and Campbell were ineffective. Fullah made a big difference when he came on. The match was dire for 80 minutes and magic for the last 10. I’m smiling!
Think that's a bit harsh on Leaburn. His header won the pen but, generally, he got penalised by the ref all night for f* all. He had very little support around him and crosses into the box were pony all night.
The problem with Miles is that he is not mobile enough to create out ball opps like Kelman does. First half our back four and Coventry were desperate for movement up front when they got the ball and it did not come really until Fullah came on.

Not mobile enough and nothing sticks with him. Also a poor header in the box tonight that he miss timed

Our defence were terrific again. And a last minute winner. If we can improve in the final third we could be onto something special this season

Absolutely no chance we keep hold of Lloyd Jones in the Jan window at this rate. Prem scouts can't be blind to what he's been doing this season. The bloke is a fucking one man defensive colossus
I think his age counts against him, thankfully. Not that he's that old for a centre half but I don't see a prem club taking a punt
More likely one of the bigger Champ teams? Stoke or Sheff Utd???

But some of our fans can’t take to him!!, I think he’s f** )&£ng great and I like him more the more I hear people say that don’t like him😂 he has brought this club back together as one whether you like him or not that should be good enough for us all. He won’t rest on this either, good times ahead.

Personally think it was an even game and a single goal for either team would have won it but luckily it was us!

Another hard fought win all the same. Love that we can grind out results.

Literally no one has said this. I just intimated his performances are bound to attract attention and losing him would be a massive loss...

I think that's the more likely scenario, but he's only recently signed a new contract and seems to be enjoying his football here so hopefully he stays to be a key part of our project.

We have the second best goals conceded record in the league now, behind only Stoke. And we are equal-first with Coventry and Stoke for most clean sheets.

Feels like Apter and JRC are getting phased out by Jones, so strange such excitment around JRC signing but he has barely played a minute.
I have no idea about JRC but there’s a player in Apter. He will get another chance
I don’t think they are being phased out. Apter is just unfortunate to be behind someone as talented as Bree, and JFC is not going to be brought on as a ‘game changer’, so unless we have an injury crisis in midfield he is going to have to wait his chance.
If Apter can't get ahead of Bree on Saturday he might as well put in a transfer request. Bree's dead ball delivery was woeful. 2 corners went low to the near post that were easily cleared (I do realise we then scored when it wasn't cleared well enough but the goal was all down to Carey) and another corner swung out of play before getting anywhere near their goal.

Bree is a shadow of the player that came into the team in Sept. Whether he's been told he will be recalled by Saints in Jan, or just going through a bad patch......but whatever it is he should be "rested" for Sat.

  • At the moment Carey picked up the ball we were incredibly vulnerable.

The slightest mishap and they'd have been away ... but there was no mishap. Carey carried the ball to them and stuck it away - like he does - I guess that's why he's the Ginger Genius!

Three players out for most of two games and we still got four points, very happy. I thought Fullah's introduction gave us the tenacity that we were missing, Bree and Campbell were not in the game until his arrival, then suddenly Tyreece woke up. Lots for Nathan to think about for Wrexham but if the defence plays like that again we have every chance.

The corner that went out of play was weird. From where I sat I thought if he takes it like that it will surely go out then back in and so it did. He's still better than Apter defensively and I'm not sure Wrexham away would be the place to change it. Apter will find him place in the end higher up the pitch. He's young and on a four year contract, his time will come.

"Charlton Athletic have won eight of their past nine midweek (Tue/Wed/Thu) league games, drawing the other, since a 2-1 home defeat by Crawley Town in December 2024."

    Amazing stat from BBC Sport
    Sliding doors moment..........

The club sack NJ after that Crawley game & the new manager cant turn it around & tonight we are losing to Bromley in the Pizza Hut comp.

Before he goes off on one about Man City NJ says Henderson pushed for Fullah to play and did the same for TC previously. Love it

Both Brener and Friedman there tonight with over 20 guests they had invited.
It looked like all their guests had been bought identical Charlton scarves to wear.
They all looked to be having a great time especially when that winning goal went in.
Would say they definitely have the Charlton bug now and was delighted to see their joy and celebrations at the end of the match.
What a difference it makes to have owners who actually attend the games and develop a love for the club, long may it continue.
That’s very encouraging imo if a club has owners that truly get the bug and if the owners have the funds there is a good chance things develop into interesting times
