Lloyd Jones 2.0

As the previous Lloyd Jones thread has been closed and doesnt look like its opening up anytime soon, I thought I would start a new one to discuss his current form and potential interest in him.

He has been incredible this season and is clearly playing the beat football of his career, which also inevitably worries me about interest in him come January.

Do you think clubs will come in for him in Jan window and if so how much do you think he is worth? Also what would him leaving do for our season?

PS apologies if starting a new thread isn't allowed not sure of the rules regarding this.

He is 30% of our team and we'd be lost without him, as shown by his absence last season.

An absolute colossus of a player. He deserves a more catchy song, even though his song is great.

A larger championship team may come in for him in January,  and definitely in the summer,  if he stays healthy.

It is quite interesting how his game has developed. I mean, he isn't a youngster where it can all click after a season or two but he has found genuine class and leadership to go with his existing qualities. I say interesting as does this happen when a player is in their late 20s that often? I would say he has found another 20% to his overall game. Maybe Nathan Jones can take a lot of credit for it. Maybe the role suits him where he leads the defence. Anyway, he is now arguably as good, if not better than any defender in the championship. If we could swap with any other championship club, would we? I certainly wouldn't.

This statement isn't bias based but he has clearly found his niche at Charlton with this manager. If he were to go, it could be detrimental to his career.

He has been awesome and if a PL club came in for him before we get there you have to consider it a well earned move. The only caveat to that is this side of a full season in the Championship it’s hard to see that PL club being one of the top ones and, basically, all the others should be avoided like the plague when the January window opens because they will be fighting relegation whether they realise it or not. Those clubs won’t be as nice an environment as the one he’s at, plus ending up at a club that could be back in the Championship next season when the dream that we might just go up hasn’t yet ended would be plain daft even if the money will be a lot higher.

Can’t see us getting any realistic offers and can’t see him leaving anyway.

    Best CB for years

Can’t see him going anywhere particularly if we are in the mix come January. What has improved beyond recognition is his aggressiveness, he literally makes it his mission to attack and win the ball 1st and if he doesn’t the opposing player invariably ends up on the floor. Since last season Lloyd has been absolutely immense and the most vital player in our side, This has to be NJ’s influence.

Rock solid player to have in the centre, being the centre of a 3 really suits him down to the ground, covers his flaws and plays to his strengths, which is why we’re seeing him flourish. Great character too.

Can’t help but think back to that period when he was injured and NJ decided not to play him during the end of the season so he could fully recover. Things like that might seem insignificant but it was quite a large leap of faith. At the time it wasn’t the same Jones in the heart of defence and in hindsight he was probably lacking confidence. Coming back fully fit and with whatever inspiration NJ provides completely changed the trajectory of his career, both with us and in general

Don’t think there’s much danger of him leaving. He’s been unbelievable and defensively he’s shown he’s one of the best at this level.

He’s stepped up brilliantly to the championship, but the premier league is another thing entirely in terms of the demands with the ball and physically. These days I doubt there are many (if any) centre backs in the premier league that are slower than Jones

He’d be my player of the season if we voted right now. Yes Carey has been excellent but we’re so used to Lloyd Jones performances that we take it for granted almost.

Really wouldn’t surprise me despite turning 30 if he gets a Wales call up

Jones leads the table for winning aerial duels in the championship this season .... Keiffer Moore is second.

Has the potential to be a Pearce v Mitrovic clash
