Could play Godden and Kelman up top .. .. otherwise he will only suffer cause lack of changes created ..
So you’d take out the player that has created the most chances from open play this season, in order for us to create chances for Godden? Makes sense
Please tell me you’re not talking about one assist Campbell …

Where have you got that info from? Think it may be a bit misleading, TC has played 15 key passes which is different from chances created.
The league leader is Sorba Thomas on 9 big chances created.

Would happily give the sniffer dog another year after this. Great player to have around the squad with his experience and to develop our younger strikers even if he's not going to go into coaching.

Doubt his contract will get renewed anyway unless he bags 20+ goals. He’s going to be 35 next season and is on a big contract. We also have a silly number of options in Tanto, Leaburn, Kelman, TC, Mbick, Kanu and Ahadme next year with no guarantee u can shift someone like Ahadme permanently. Would be nice to have an experienced head in the changing room but can only see it happening if he’s willing to drop down his wages significantly
come on. Whether you can shift him or not , ahadme will never be considered as “an option”. I think it’s very unlikely he will ever make a 18 for a competitive first team match ever again.
I'm well aware of that what I'm saying is you cant go into a season with 8 strikers on the books. Unless there's a plan to sell Kanu this summer as he's out of contract in 2027, give Mbick an extra year on loan in league 1 or find a club willing to eat up a good part of Ahadme's wages the circumstances may just lead to Godden not getting that extra year unless he finishes the season as the clubs obvious best forward

would love to see matty given a player/coach role! Still life in the ol' Dog yet - but a coaching role would keep him around longer!
Article is no longer there but he isn’t planning to stay in football after retiring.

I mean he’s the first footballer I’ve known that’s wanted to go into ladies hairdressing once he’s retired but good luck to him. I hope he gets a chain of salons, maybe calls them “sniffers”

FotMob. Here’s big chances and the definitions of each.

Jones likes players around the place he trusts (look at Hylton last year), and after going out his was to bring Godden in last year and being well vindicated in doing so, I am sure he will want him around. Godden, I think, has a few years left. Pace isn't a deciding factor in his game; he reminds me of Kevin Phillips. Both have had such clever movement and clinical in front of goal, and he played in the champ until he was 40.

He will be back in contention after the next international break - comes from somebody who spoke to him last night
  • Only caught the last 10 secondds as i got in the car but Unless I'm mistaken it really sounded like Matt Goddess was on talksport an hour ago.

    Anyone know what was said?

My wife listened. Said he was playing with an issue behind his knee from January onwards and whatever it was something calcified leading to his current problem. Said it’s an unusual one and it’s currently being used as a case study. Didn’t really give any indication of when he’ll be back.

He's closer to playing than he was when he gave that interview!

Matty Godden spoke to talkSPORT earlier and was asked about his knee injury: "I played through it from January onwards. Then I had to have surgery in the summer. I was told six weeks and here we are week 13 - it's a slow one. We'll get there in the end.

I beginning  to wonder if Godden`s career for Charlton may be over, if he recovers at all from being made to play through a serious injury for weeks.

Still weeks away according to NJ yesterday

That is disappointing news, a refresh of our forward line at the present moment in time could surely help things at present. I did not expect him to start a match, and be given some time to build up to full fitness. Hopefully see him asap, although caution would be advised.

Starting to get really concerned for Matty. Knees are complicated.

It probably doesn't help that (by pro football standards) he's getting on a bit and even minor niggles take longer to recover from, and this is clearly not minor.

Spoke to someone on the way back from the game on Saturday that says Godden is likely to be to Feb, same as Kelman sadly. Edwards around the same time, maybe longer. Never usually in the know but this source was very credible.

If that's the case then hopefully we can look at some decent loans. We need a permanent player to compete with Edwards anyway but a loan will do if a suitable player isn't available and we can work on getting in a striker to cover for the two who are missing.

If we knew something was up it makes the deadline day move for Fofana make more sense. He’s scored 4 in 9 in the Turkish Super Lig

On Rich Cawley Substack in his interview with a Jones he said that hopefully they will be back in December.

Hopefully that's true, but i doubt it. They feared Godden may be out for the season as something went wrong with his surgery, but Feb is more likely.
