Norris Just needs to avoid Max running him off the road2
-
If I was Red Bull I'd leave Yuki out until both McLaren's have pitted.
Yuki can then dawdle like a little old lady doing her weekly shop in Sector three with those two behind him, and if McLaren dont pit at the right time, could end up being undercut by the likes of both Russell and Leclerc which could leave Norris and Piastri in P5 / P6 - All depends if Yuki can make his tyres last to do that

Expect him to start on a harder compound.ForeverAddickted said:If I was Red Bull I'd leave Yuki out until both McLaren's have pitted.

Of course would be a moot point if they build up a whole pit stops lead over him, so expect Max to drive at 90% pace all race to stop large gaps appearing1 -
Wouldnt be surprised if he did try it if Lando was to get in front of him - you know the tactic , lunge in at a corner and just force him off.BigRedEvil said:Norris Just needs to avoid Max running him off the road
Gonna be a fascinating race - Lando just needs 4th, right?0 -
Lando needs 3rd if Max wins.3
-
I was thinking the same.BigRedEvil said:Norris Just needs to avoid Max running him off the road
Norris has to understand that he does not need to overtake Max, especially not at the first corner. He is not racing Max. He is racing 18 odd other drivers to finish no worse than 3rd.2 -
Plus you know Max is cunning enough to force Norris off track to lose a few places. Could be fireworks at the start. In reality it's also the only way Max wins the title by forcing Norris to lose positions or a mechanical failure1
-
Piastri realistically needs to win to have any chance, so he will probably best take the fight to Verstappen, Norris needs to play it cool and have more of a waiting game, making sure that third becomes his target.2
-
If this was a Hollywood Film Verstappen would take out Norris on the first corner, get disqualified and Oscar wins the race and the become champion!0
-
The grid situation seems pretty perfect for Norris. Let Verstappen go as it doesn’t matter, and just try and stay in second coming out of turn one and then he’s got the buffer of Piastri behind him to block anyone else.
Despite what they say publicly i'm sure there will have been private discussions on team orders. If Verstappen is leading the race and Piastri therefore has no chance to win the title then surely team orders will come into play on just holding position and not risking anything. What Norris definitely doesn’t want to do, is to be going wheel to wheel with Verstappen into turn one and coming off. So for me, he has to play it safe.1 -

Zak has already said that if the situation was that Max was to become champion they would use team orders if it meant Lando would improve his position to win the championship.Chris_from_Sidcup said:The grid situation seems pretty perfect for Norris. This is the right thing to do and Oscar shouldn't have a problem with it, as it might be him that needs the helping hand next season.2 -
I keep wondering if Russell might put a spanner in the works by getting inbetween Pisastri and Norris0

Do the right thing old chap

By the sound of things, if Max is leading and Norris finds himself in P4, I reckon they'll ask Piastri to drop back and let Lando have P3 - I'm not expecting a classic today, even 2021 was pretty boring until the last lap, Abu Dhabi is a terrible location to have a title decider, if this was Interlagos you'd go into the race thinking all three have a realistic chanceZulu said:I keep wondering if Russell might put a spanner in the works by getting inbetween Pisastri and NorrisI just hope that whoever wins, does so fairly and we dont see a repeat of 2021I've no faith in that happening though1 -
It’s gonna be a messy race. Max leads at turn 1 and he will back everyone up. Will be carnage with everyone tripping up over each other0
-
Glad Mclaren split the strategy, it’s the sensible bet1
-
Norris really doesnt look very fast at the moment1
-
Not sure what to think about that…… I actually think it’s ok for Lando. Oscar has nothing to lose and is on the better tyre to Max. Oscar wins and Lando can come 5th. And if there is an issue at the end and Oscar is second he will drop back.
no issue for Lando1 -
The issue for Lando isn’t Piatsri being faster, it’s that every car behind him looks faster too. I wonder if he’s been holding back to 1) let Piastri through a bit and 2) to try and go a lot longer than Max and negate the Tsunoda issue1

Fucks sake just when we don’t want a fast Ferrari we get one0

Leclerc is sliding around all over the place and Lando looks to be driving well within the car. Surely Ferrari’s tyre drop off will come earlier. But if they box early, does Lando have to come in early to cover him?0
-
Not sure he’s noticed it but Brundell has just described the Mclaren strategy. The swap was definitely planned because it gives them 2 chances. If Norris has a mechanical Piastri isn’t on the back foot0
-
Lando starting to get clear of DRS from Leclerc.
Wonder if we could get a scenario of Piastri letting Leclerc and Lando through in order to get 3rd later for Lando0 -
Piastri now closer to Max than Leclerc is to Norris, perfect0
-
Lets see how Yuki keeps Norris behind, same with Lawson...0
-
What a double overtake that was!!0
-
Fantastic overtake to get Lawson as well1
-
Tsunoda worries me here. Or should I say Red Bull do2
-
Surely Norris will need to give that place back?0

Got pushed off though...?DaveMehmet said:Surely Norris will need to give that place back?0
