Draught Guinness at home
I like Guinness on draught in pubs. And I also like the Guinness that comes in cans with a widget. In fact, I think that's a great drinking-at-home drink.
But now there's "NitroSurge" (what a terrible, terrible name for a beer product) which comes in slightly larger cans and recommended to pour using a NitroSurge device (c.£30).
Does anyone have experience with these new devices? Where are they on the invaluable-gimmick scale? How much - if at all - better is a NitroSurge-poured, at-home Guinness, compared to a normal, widget-poured draught Guinness?
And, after how many Guinesses can you no longer notice the difference?

It's better than the ones with the widget, definitely, not far off (potentially impossible to tell the difference) to the quality of a pub poured pint in my experience.Chizz said:I like Guinness on draught in pubs. The cans are more expensive than the widget cans though.0 -

I can confirm that this is most definitely NOT the case!! The man spends as long as it takes to pour one, setting his Guinness up to take the perfect picture of each first pint in each pub he sups one in. Dedicated lad 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😉ElfsborgAddick said:

You can use the nitrosurge on normal cans. Plenty of YouTube videos showing you how.2

But it's still only Guinness...0

I'm tempted by this. I think Guinness is pretty awful in at least 60% of pubs, and excellent in less than 5%. But when it's good, it's an absolute delight.
London Black can also be great when you can find it.1 -
Quit alcohol 4 years ago this Jan. The introduction of 0% Guinness is quite possibly one of the most momentus events in human history.15

I’m told the Guinness in the Lord Herbert is very good and in the Old Mill it’s good.0

Genuinely never been able to tell the difference between any Guinness ever. Apart from once in new York where I'm sure it was fizzy.0

Black cab stout, I wasn’t keen on it when I tried it. Also £3 more a pint than the Guinness in Roses in Woolwich.kafka said:What's the Guinness wannabe that they serve in the fan bar; not so great I thought0 -

Please let us know what you think of it, both the thingy itself and the Guinness it produces.SuedeAdidas said:I just ordered a Nitrosurge starter pack.Nitrosurge thingy plus 8 Nitrosurge Guinness cans for £35 on Amazon.0 -
The Black Cab was decent last season - not so good so far this year though
The Nitrosurge Guinness is actually pretty decent IMHO
ANother good pub that serves a decent Guinness is The Jolly Farmers in Lewisham near the hospital0 -
It’s getting a test run later. I’ll report back. I’m sure I’ll fuck up pouring it….but let’s see….Chizz said:

Come on. We are waiting for the report0

He enjoyed it too much. FYI, my report = as good as a pub guiness and you don’t have to put up with twats at the bar. 5 stars.1

Does anyone else prefer bottled guinness to the widgety stuff? I find nitrogen kills all the flavour, as it does with Boddingtons/Caffreys etc (not that I imagine these beers were ever much cop anyway)0
