What was the Question again?3 -

In answer to OP: That's why!3

I’m a big TC fan but a goal & assist from the bench in about an hours worth of football does suggest that maybe he should be a “game changer” rather than a starter.8
-
Hopefully his success in his last couple of appearances from the bench will do him the world of good in terms of rebuilding his confidence.
He was also badly in need of a rest.
Whilst we are picking up points I would continue to use him as a sub. A player with his pace and trickery is always going to be more successful against tiring legs.
But should he once again become a starter, I think we'll see a more productive player than we did a few weeks ago.3 -
A quality player who is let down by his finishing. Hopefully the goals will come.0

Chunes said:I'm pleased for him that he scored, and to be fair, it came after him being dropped to the bench, which is what most people were calling for. He obviously needs a rest to recuperate mentally and physically.
I'm not sure if the stuff about him not wanting to celebrate with the fans is true or not, but he needs to take the rough with the smooth. He might get criticised sometimes, but his song is also the one that's sung more than any other player.
And it doesn't matter who you are, if you back out of a 50/50 like that at The Valley, you will get pelters.
After the last regular game of last season, he was clearly as 'head down' uncomfortable with the plaudits he was getting and the amount his song was being sung. Could be he's painfully shy - odd as that sounds in the ubermacho professional football environment - social awkwardness has nothing to do with athletic prowess.
He won't have been unaware of the extent, nature and ferocity of much of the abuse he's been getting. To throw that off and celebrate with those same profanity hurling yobs would have been weirder than turning to get on with the game, as he did.0 -

Problem is same can be said about Tanto and unless we find ourselves in a situation like yesterday where we can chuck TC on at LWB, does TC or Tanto have to start at the LW/ST role because not sure either Kelman or Leaburn are as effective when they are forced to drift out widese9addick said:I’m a big TC fan but a goal & assist from the bench in about an hours worth of football does suggest that maybe he should be a “game changer” rather than a starter.0 -
Once Kelman is back up to speed to start games I think he’s one starter, then I think it’s between Leaburn and TC for the other spot.We saw earlier in the season that with TC and Kelman up top our press is at its best. Against good footballing teams that like to play out from the back I’d go with that duo. Also agree with other posters that TC’s starting output will be better now he’s got a bit of confidence
In a game like Oxford on Saturday where they aren’t going to play out, then Leaburn makes more sense as a starter.
So I think it should be a case of Kelman plus 1 other, picked depending on the opposition1 -
I said weeks ago he had started every/nearly every game, needed a rest and would be more effective from the bench.
Thankfully Nathan Jones listened.
(To be fair half our support could also see this and many of the remainder thought we hated TC for stating the bleeding obvious.1 -
Trying something else and giving him a go from the bench was absolutely the right decision but let’s not pretend the majority saw it as a tactical decision, rather than the fact he’s been getting pelters left right and centreCovered End said:I said weeks ago he had started every/nearly every game, needed a rest and would be more effective from the bench.

I don’t disagree that he probably needed the rest and it has worked for the better. Not saying this is the people criticising him on here as criticism is fair but at the Boro game TC was booed into the tunnel and we had fans screaming at him calling him all kind of names which is just pathetic. People were right to condemn that kind of behaviour for a player going through a poor spell and low on confidence.Covered End said:I said weeks ago he had started every/nearly every game, needed a rest and would be more effective from the bench.

He played really well today.
Did anyone see NJ in the first half when he tracked back and won the ball doing a 50 yard sprint?
He turned around to the West stand pointing trying to get people to clap.
If we get behind him, he will play better. He seems to be shooting more so maybe his confidence is growing too.

He was tracking back really well and we all knows it's not his best position but he tries and I commend him for it every time,Jones was definitely happy with him there was a moment when play stopped and he was in his ear encouraging him and patting him on the back.llama_child_21cws said:He played really well today.

The Coventry goal that a few are claiming TC was at fault for - look where he is when we are going forward and how he sprints to get back after Berry gives it away cheaply.2

He played OK imo. Can't fault his effort tracking back but his inability to put a decent cross in was evidenced at the start of the 2nd half when he played 3 poor crosses in quick succession. His shooting also left a lot to be desired.llama_child_21cws said:He played really well today.

It's a position I would hope we improve on in January and then utilise TC off the bench when he's most dangerous.

Look how fast TC ran back, about six other players (three around the goalscorer) are back, and Jones is the only guy to stick a leg out.Bell should of done more imo.0 -
Oi, I was rattling my flask and cup together in appreciation, so much so my blanket fell off my knees.Covered End said:

Agree - I dared to venture the sane opinion on the Bell appreciation thread - he is a class act but not infallible.JustFloydRoad said:Weegie Addick said:The Coventry goal that a few are claiming TC was at fault for - look where he is when we are going forward and how he sprints to get back after Berry gives it away cheaply.

Yeah its great, a few years in this league he gets better and becomes a real player!JustFloydRoad said:Weegie Addick said:The Coventry goal that a few are claiming TC was at fault for - look where he is when we are going forward and how he sprints to get back after Berry gives it away cheaply.

Most of our squad, not just TC2 -
I dont doubt TCs effort. I really didn’t think he was at fault for the goal. His crosses were woeful though2

The question is, should TC have been in the centre forward position?Weegie Addick said:The Coventry goal that a few are claiming TC was at fault for - look where he is when we are going forward and how he sprints to get back after Berry gives it away cheaply.
I honestly don't know the answer, but I do know they scored because Bell was left "exposed".0 -
Have to say my 1st reaction was what’s TC doing?, but at the moment I’m finding fault in him rather easily, so decided to lay off him. So Covered end you can take the yellow for suggesting TC wasn’t quite at it this time!!😂Covered End said:

Dealing with that sort of attack is exactly why we're missing EdwardsProbably would have gotten in front of the attacker, and won a foul, with the cross never coming in3
