Apter is not my favourite player, but his clearing header at the back post was vital.

PWR (prefer to post first to avoid being influenced by other input)

we were playing a l1 outfit so I’m not proved right by this BUT I’ve said 3 things

    apter should be tried LWB
TC should be tried as a sub/gamechanger/finisher
    Leaburn will come good

    no further comments your honour

(further comment - well in chazza son)

    Side point

I just watched the Sky Sports highlights

they didn’t show tanto’s first half chance, the best chance of the entire match

they also didn’t show leaburns chance at Birmingham last week; the best chance of our entire season

    WTF

Tyreece Campbell is this season's Karoy Anderson. Absolutely useless starting games, but an absolute revelation coming on a substitute.
    I don’t think he’s ever absolutely useless.
We’ve had players who have been absolutely useless, but I wouldn’t rate him as one of them.

    One nil to the Charlton

    yes mate
  • Wouldn't it be great to beat both Norwich and Pompey away.  Would be serious daylight between us and bottom 3, and give us a great pitch for players we are looking to sign in Jan.

This division is tough, we are clawing our way towards some kind of parity.
Well done to Kelman it has to be said.
  • PWR: arrived at HT for reasons we don’t need to go into here. First of 10-15 mins of the second half they were dominant and looked very worrying.

But their defence was clearly vulnerable and the subs were perfect from NJ.

TC so close to scoring with his first touch and Kelman’s finish was quality - expect him to score plenty more between now and end of season.

Special shout out for Leaburn. Anyone who says he doesn’t try isn’t worth engaging with

I think some.people need to appreciate that this is the first season at Championship level for all of our young forward players, and they'll be all the better for it. Our fortunes will change massively if we can consistently get Kelman chances like yesterday, as the lad can finish no doubt about it. Unfortunately Tanto has the pace and power to create his own opportunities, but has no composure in front of goal, similar to TC really.

Was frustrated watching the first half as I felt our final ball/decision/execution was poor and highlighted the lack of quality- the Olaofe finish for example.  Was worried it was going to be a case of not having enough to see them off, despite controlling the game.  But that changed with the intro of Kelman and what a finish.  I really think he can grow into a clever footballer at this level.

There were some very good performances.  Leaburn was excellent, Anderson put himself about very well and I thought Apter and Bree both had good games, particularly how they got forward.

We got the win we needed, that’s all that mattered.  Onto Norwich.  I think we can frustrate them and get a win

On reflection, it would’ve been even worse if we didn’t get the three points given how little Oxford offered.  I was surprised how little they threatened given they could’ve got back to within 2 points of us had they won.

Things can change a lot in this division and I don’t want to write them off on the basis of this one performance, as they had a great win against Ipswich a couple of weeks ago, but based on the game, I’m thinking they’re very much a candidate for one of the two remaining relegation spots.

If we can get 4 points out the next two, which I believe is possible, I’d say it would be a monumental collapse in the second half of the season for us to go down.  These next two games will go a long way to defining our season I reckon

That’s a lovely turn and finish
  • I 'nicked' this from the preview and sent it to a couple of mates.  Fine work from Arthur and a 2 goal victory up next to look forward to.

To anyone who helped my wife, after she fell down the stairs leaving the west stand yesterday, I'd like to say thank you! She has sore knees and a few bruises but is OK. I missed it all as I was ten yards ahead of her, and wondered why she wasn't right behind me on the concourse...
  • Couldn't get there yesterday and didn't watch.
    Just seen the Sky highlights.
    Carey looked unplayable!
Fantastic turn and shot by Kelman.
They didn't show too much of Leaburn but I read here that he put himself about well, Campbell as well when he came on. Nice shot and pass inside for the goal.
Shame Oloafe couldn't finish his big chance but he looked lively.
Well - we did well against a poor side - be great to get a win from either of the next two!
Ah well - here's to a comfortable mid table Christmas!
A very peaceful and happy Christmas to all lifers and families.....

Really is a beauty, it’s just gently nudged into him, the way he shifted it assertively into a bit of space with the only thing in his mind to try and get the shot off is excellent
  • Jones post match interview he mentions “we need reinforcements “. This I think is critical to how our season pans. Let’s be honest that we’re still at least half looking over our shoulders. Easy in The Championship to get sucked in off even a short bad run. We’re deficient in I’d say three areas. I’ll be disappointed if all of those deficiencies are not addressed. LWB, Advanced midfielder and striker.
  • I'm reading a lot of comments saying we did well against a poor side, but I don't really think that gives us justice you know? How I saw yesterday's game was we played like we had been at the start of the season, regardless of it being a poor opposition.. there were good moments of football and some excellent link up plays, and an absolute solid back line too, the traits of the team which got us off to a great start to the season.

The 2nd half of the season with injuries coming back is going to be fantastic if we carry on playing like we should be, and while I don't expect a playoff challenge, I think there's going to be some great moments to look forward to and end the season on a high
  • Good all round performance yesterday, especially from Miles. He wont be a prolific scorer.but he is the mirror image of his dad who came into the team at a young age and throughout his career was a provider rather than a scorer.Just fied him someone to build an understanding with and we might have a Keegan Toshack,Gilzean Greaves situation on our hands.(Extreme I know but you get my gist.)

That's bollocks though, cos Stoke, Birmingham and Coventry are further west than Southampton, and Boro's further east than Oxford.

How ridiculous. TC ( and Kelman) pressing and threatening up front was key to our early season success. He had two defenders marking him every game to try and keep him quiet. If course it is easier to come on when defenders are tiring and make an impact but he has been a key player for us all season.
    The modern day Lloyd Sam!
  • Cracking goal from Kelman. We started to play a bit of football in the second half.

Oxford looked very poor - will do well to stay up.
