Andrew Crofts -God I'd forgotten we had him, absolutely woeful. We had another midfielder that season of a similar mould, who was equally useless in a brief CAFC career - can't quite place him?
You're probably thinking of his midfield partner, the maestro Kevin Foley

Yeah, that awful time when Slade played Foley, Crofts and Jackson (towards the end of his career) together.

Amazing how a professional manager can’t see that you can’t properly compete with a central midfield that slow.

We had that Norwegian(?) midfielder on loan and Aribo on the fringes, so I don’t think that choice was down to a lack of options.

I think way too many people are reading way too much into it tbh.

He's probably pretty unfit, he's on the bench atm in an emergency (so we don't have a repeat of the game where Bell and Burke both went off) and as such probably doesn't warm up as hard as others do. Some players don't warm up a lot compared to others, I remember we had someone on the bench a few years ago, might have been Crofts, who warmed up all 90 mins, never came on, and they said a couple of weeks later that he lost 2kg in sweat alone that game despite not actually making an appearance!
It's pretty telling though that he's not even getting on for 10 minutes at the end of a game. We played a right winger in his position yesterday and even when he was subbed off, Roussillon still didn't get on.

I'm sure his salary isn't breaking the bank, but it does seem a pretty pointless signing if he's behind Apter, Fuller, TC and probably even Hernandez. So if you count Edwards and Bell as the first two choices for that role then with the other names i've mentioned he is 7th choice at best. Even a club as unlucky with injuries as us aren't going to get 6 injuries for one position.

Freddie Ulvestad from Burnley, I think?

That's it, couldn't be bothered looking him up!

Steve Mackenzie would be right up there as well, his first few games for us were shocking as he had undoubtedly been tucking into the holiday buffet and booze. Did redeem himself later though!

When he scores the winning penalty for us in the play-off final in May 2026 you'll eat your words.

Rhys Williams on loan from Middlesbrough. Still have nightmares about his ‘performance’ in the 6-0 defeat at Hull in 2016.

Tbh, as the question was "unfit" rather than "bad" then yeah Ajdarevic is the answer. Classy, silky player I enjoyed watching but was always blowing out his arse after 60 minutes

I'd say 6 seconds could even be more apt for describing him but I thought I'd try and be nice about one of the few successful Roland loans

It’s odd - if he’s really so catastrophically unfit that he can’t get a second of playing time, what’s the point in having him on the bench?

Always a fan of his. Was delighted that when I moved into a flat in North Greenwich a few years back I received the odd letter addressed to him. So I still claim to have lived in a footballers flat.

370 up there singing the Tight Fit number rejigged.

A quality day out but the lowest week in me supporting Charlton since 1977.

He was a tidy player, but he’d be blowing out his arse after about 20 minutes!

At least most of the above got on the pitch unlike Corey Gibbs.

Astrit was quality... Probably would have played at a much higher level if he sorted his fitness out. Seem to remember reading at the time, probably on here, that he smoked like a chimney

No mention of Chuks when he could only play 30 minutes?

He won league titles in Sweden and Greece, so that is a higher level than us surely?

Older fans will of course remember dear old Ralph Milne turning up in January looking like he had had a good Christmas, and if I remember correctly debuted against a young Stuart Pearce in a dire 0-1 home defeat to Forest. I met dear old Ralph many years later, and can confirm that he admitted that strength and conditioning were perhaps not his top priorities during his brief spell witj the Addicks.
