I’m going to keep this one short: I thought we had the better of the first half, and were probably better that them in the second too, but not by much. Yet they scored and we didn’t. Two sides looking desperate not to lose. I can see why they’re in the relegation spots: they’re absolutely awful. Not being able to beat this Portsmouth team is shocking. Being beat by them is unforgivable. But we just didn’t have it in us tonight. [Edit: Knibbsy equalised in the final minute of added time!]

[Edit-edit: Final kick of the game and we concede :-(]

The less said about the ref, the better.

Portsmouth 1 Charlton 0.
Portsmouth 1 Charlton 1.
Portsmouth 2 Charlton 1.

Over to you.

    How safe is Jones now?
  • That really, really isn’t a good result. Portsmouth were there for the beating, as were Norwich. My concern is, if we can’t beat them, who can we beat?

The sides around mid table only apparently. Expect red raw arse cheeks against Coventry as we're gonna get spanked.

Jones really needs some players in January as we just don't have the quality to start or come off the bench.

    The stuff of nightmares.

We're not down yet, because there's 20 some odd games to play, but for a team outside the relegation zone we sure feel like we're in it. That was a gut punch on top of a kick in the bollocks. Just can't do that in this league and stay up.

The only tiny thing from that shite was seeing peoples goal scoring and goal conceding posts overlap. Comic relief.

Ill be there Thursday but at the moment I don’t look forward to it.

That was sickening and inept, but we are not down yet, Jones isn’t clueless and these aren’t the worst players to wear the shirt, in case anyone was planning to make those claims.

    Really sickening…
They certainly don’t lack effort but a lack of confidence is damaging us as much as a lack of quality. And that sucker punch won’t help at all.
Que the moronic calls for Jones to be sacked.
    Urgh. Not a good night.

  • Terrible performance and shocking way to throw away a point.

However we are literally only halfway through the season.  Not sure what everyone was expecting from this squad in a first season back in this ultra competitive league.

Really hope that Jones and the players have more bollocks and belief than some of our fans who have seemingly thrown up the white flag and accepted relegation after 23 games and 5 points off the bottom three with a game in hand.

Long way to go and whilst we need to be very active in the transfer window we can turn this bad patch around.

Portsmouth were awful, sheffield wednesday gone and there's other sides that will likely have a poor run.

We can pick up with a few results as not like we're getting smashed week in week out.  Need to stay behind the players and manager.  Long way to go and lots of points still there for the taking.

Grim to see people shitting themselves and crying that we're going down already. Have some back bone for Christ's sake.

  • Good game management got us promoted. I think bad game management is going to take us back down.

The first half was positive - JRC, Berry, Bell all having good games. Kelman getting opportunities, Leaburn looking lively and up for the game. Final ball wasn't quite dropping our way, but it was the strongest we have looked in weeks.

Half time comes around. Pompey back in it, looking refreshed and the subs at 64 minutes for them revitalised their game. Leaburn and Kelman become increasingly isolated, JRC and TC the only ones making things happen. They score after a seeming confusion in the box from a corner.

We then wait another 15 minutes to make changes. Knibbs does get a goal, but 10 seconds after kick off they score from frankly abysmal defending.

There were positives 45 minutes in. After 98, it is pretty bleak viewing.

Can’t argue with any of that. Keep the faith.
  • Didn't mind that for 97 minutes. Had our reward. Then we blow up like away at Barnsley (last season?) and that game at Ashton Gate (relegation season?). It happens. Worse things to worry about. Sorry for those that travelled.
  • That is just as painful as it gets. Point thrown away.

Portsmouth scored from a poorly defended corner. Charlton get back in with 1 minute left of injury time.

Never mind that that the referee was a disgrace that constantly give decisions Portsmouth way.

A disgraceful lack of concentration and focus of the team to let a poor Portsmouth team win this in the 98 minute. Team need to have a long look at themselves. Sickening to watch.
