10 yellow cards by gameweek 32
jones won’t get a suspension but he will get a suspension if he picks up 5 yellows in the next 12 games

I can’t recall a more aerially dominant centre back for us. It honestly feels like he wins every header he goes in for, at least defensively. He’s over due a goal from a corner.

Agreed. Annoys me that our set pieces have been so bad recently. Jones would have a few this season already if we were consistent.

I am one of the much more optimistic fans about our chances of staying up this season. If Jones got injured then I’d be worried, he’s our most important player by far

In the same boat as you - Jones is the most critical piece of the starting XI.

He would've had one against Chelsea if not for a great save.

I'd have scored a header against Chelsea too, if not for the fact I'm now too old and was never that good anyway.

Gets injured and we go down
  • Surprised West Ham haven't shown an interest - they need a no nonsense central defender to aid their relegation battle.

I honestly think this will be his last season at the club, a team looking for promotion will come in for him and offer him better money. He is still under contract which means we will get a decent wedge for him.

He may not be a starter in premier league but a team pushing for promotion next season will see it as a calculated gamble buy him you have one of the best CBs in the Championship and the money you lay out pales in comparision of yhe cash if you reach the promiseland of the prem.

Also if it does happen I wouldnt begrudge him gave us a lot of good service and its probably his last big move or chance to play at a higher level. More cash, play in a decent squad, etc.

If he gets a move, it will be fully deserved.

Could be wrong but can’t see many clubs spending massive on a 30 year old in the peak of his career and isn’t your typical ball playing modern cb which Lots of managers like. Touch wood but he’s here to say at least until the end of his deal

I don’t think he’d be as good at a lot of other clubs too. He’s unbelievable for us and one of the best out and out defenders in the league imo. But playing in the middle of the back 3 for a team like us suits his game perfectly, I think he’d only be able to step up to a top championship team if he’s going to be playing in a team that plays a similar way

Probably looking at the likes of Preston, Stoke, Derby etc level of team. They do pay more than we do but we’ve got a lot more chance of holding them off than we would one of the parachute teams but I don’t think someone like Jones will interest them

Not his fault the team is shit but he doesn’t feel like a leader on a pitch currently which is bizarre. Just seems completely demoralized at the moment and very reserved. Not sure if something is going on behind the scenes but I would at least keep Doc around till the summer so he can have his captain role. We need leadership in a relegation scrap.

Respectfully if it wasn’t for Lloyd Jones we would already be relegated. Even if he is not the most vocal or typical captain material he’s better than the rest of our squad put together

This isn’t a question of his talent I think he is our most consistent player and always gives 100%. Even today he only lost one duel despite the claims ALL our players were bullied on the pitch. I’m moreso questioning his leadership ability. I think we need a more vocal captain on the pitch right now to whip the players into shape and he just isn’t that person. Doc is not cut out for the championship but I do think he is a good leader. We need more of that at the moment.

Jones used to be that leader but those qualities have dipped as he has less faith in those around him
  • He won 11/12 aerial duels today and made 16 clearances, all whilst playing with a dodgy ankle which he really shouldn’t be playing on. But he’s desperate for us to stay up and knew how big this game was. He will win POTY again no question
  • There seems to be some false equivalancy that loud=captain material, the old shouty captain type I played with occassionally is becoming less and less. A captain can also be more of a lead by example type.

It keeps getting mentioned and hinted at in other threads that his injury was aggravated on Saturday. Is this just speculation, or has anyone heard this from a 'source'? Some even saying he may not be available for all of February... would be a huge loss.

Got more chance of anti government news coming out of North Korea than injury news from the Valley.
