Kudos to @CB1 for saying we'd make a signing today. Spot on
lost all cred with me - he said between 9-10 this morning  - not good enough

Feel like it's a perfectly reasonable signing for where we currently are and what we need.

Can't say I'm feeling like he is going to set the world on fire, but equally, I don't think he's going to be completely useless. If he can help us stay up, then that's all that matters - and NJ clearly thinks so. I reckon he's good for a few goals, can cover/start as our 9 and even gives another head for our (sadly woeful generally) set pieces. When you're scrapping at the bottom of the league, this is the kind of signing you make in January - someone who wants/needs minutes, got a point to prove and some experience. NJ has done this before to mixed effect, so we'll see.

Hopefully, he can do a job for us.

[e] Oh and fwiw, I think we would have been really scuppered if Leaburn got injured again. A Chuks-esque option is something we have lacked, particularly with the way NJ likes to play.

I'd guess he was on a fair whack at brum and they've agreed to pay up part of the rest of his contract, and he has accepted 6 months with us on a lower wedge

Truthfully I just don’t know what to feel about this one, I’m underwhelmed  I think,  but welcome Lyndon, hope it works out and good luck.
  • Nice to have another physical presence and not rely on leaburn for a whole 90 mins

think its an ideal signing as he knows he wont play every game aswell and will give tiring defenders a hard time

Like all signings, as soon as they are over the line i start thinking of all the positives and think its really good - not totally convinced but can see the logic of it - just wonder if a loan back to Stockport for Tanto might be on the cards ?

Strange coincidence but the museum were posting about John Hewie being our only player to win a Scottish cap while playing for us and then the very next day.....

chuffed with that.  If he scores half a dozen between now and the end of the season he will be a big success .

I dont think we are in a position to give up any bodies from the squad at the moment - I dont see what we gain from that.

He will be eager to get in the Scotland squad so hopefully will get amongst the goals. One should be enough to secure his place as their first choice striker for the 3 games they will have.

Interestingly on cawley’s substack he quotes jones as saying that dykes is a loan…

”… But at the moment we have four of our own strikers here, a loan with Lyndon and two young athletic ones out on loan scoring goals.”

I assume the 6 months is because we can’t assure Championship football next year. At least not yet.

Therefore Dykes won’t want to commit to longer but is confident enough he can get another club if we get relegated. He’s trusting his ‘mate’ Kelman it’s a good place to be in the short term.

I assume he’s negotiated a pay off from Birmingham.

As noted by Cawley, the curious thing is that he joined Brum in summer 2024 and signed a THREE year deal, so would have been under contract until the summer of 2027, and not this summer, so has swapped 1.5 years at Brum for 6 months with us.
I mean Birmingham is kind of like that compared to London.

Don’t think that would help Tanto at this time.

Good signing. Experienced battering ram and will give us another dynamic at set pieces.

    Good Luck Lyndon!🔴⚪️

Surprised there’s no option for the club to extend but fair enough. Pleased with the experience

make space for a couple of LWB / LCB's plus Bree rather than have a player sitting around doing very little - same logic as Knibbs

Decent signing for me.  Before Brum he spent the last 5 years at this level.  Takes the pressure off Leaburn and Kelman a bit, and gives the out and out target man we’ve been focused on (I presume).  Let’s get behind him and hopefully he can make the difference in staying up alongside a left wing back and Clarke

Well, the last time we signed a player because he wanted to play in the World Cup that summer didn't turn out too badly

  • quick question for htose who aren't too impressed with this signing.

What were your expectations/targets to make you underwhelmed with a 6 month contract?

Feel sorry for Kelman but Leaburn and Lyndon together up top will rip this divsion apart

All I will say is, if we are a championship club next season and he has contributed then decent six month signing.

But I will have to eat some serious humble pie if he turns into a player I like. I normally breathe a sigh of relief when he comes on against us.
