Lyndon Dykes signs a six month contract

Rogerio Ceni once wore 618 in a game apparently, but in English football I think numbers are limited to 1 or 2 digit numbers0

He is referred to as Limbdon
Partly because he has a tendency to score "scrappy and unexpected goals" leading to "limbs" but also because of his un-elegant style of play which is said to stem from his rugby background.
Maybe not one for the purists but definitely a bit of Nathan!!4 -
Cancel his fucking contractCallumcafc said:Oh no, please no one tell @Garrymanilow 🙈9 -
I’m pleased with this signing, an experienced target man.
I hope he’s an absolute shithouse.
If he can be even half the shithouse Danny Hylton was I’d be delighted.8 -
A perfect fit for Jonesball then, I know some people would prefer that we added creativity and skill to the team but NJ seems to be doubling down on his preference for physicality and athleticism with the two signings thus far.Swisdom said:He is referred to as Limbdon

Happy with that, he's going to be top of the class in Professor Hyltons darker lessons.1

I remember watching him play for Sunderland against us and saying, "I wish Jaydon could hold the ball up like that." Then I googled him and found he's never played for Sunderland.
Then I realised I've been confusing him for Charlie Wyke.

Spoke to a Birmingham supporting friend who said Dykes, Anderson and Leonard all had a massive fall out with the manager. Hence why Anderson had his contract cancelled, Dykes has I assume been paid up to go and Leonard is on the list.
His only comment on Dykes was "you must be desperate if you want to sign him".
Anyway, fans have been wrong plenty of times so, welcome Dykes, wishing you every success.4 -
Called it with the post game chat with Nathan

That’s what is weird unless it was two years with the third year as an option which Birmingham may have already informed him they won’t trigger. Also, maybe their is an option in him signing that means he’ll automatically get another year as long as we remain in the Championship, as wages would be unsustainable in League One, or an extra year is triggered if he makes a certain number of appearances etc. We don’t have to be party to every aspect of a players contract situation.killerandflash said:As noted by Cawley, the curious thing is that he joined Brum in summer 2024 and signed a THREE year deal, so would have been under contract until the summer of 2027, and not this summer, so has swapped 1.5 years at Brum for 6 months with us.1 -
Off piste a bit but can’t get this Amy winehouse ditty I made up out of my head after so many shitty results
Our day will come

He gives us options, if Leaburn tires or needs a rest when the midweek games come between Saturdays he is there but it also allows us to have Leaburn play off the striker, which he has done most of career and where he has got most of his goals. With Kelman and Godden hopefully returning, we now have options.1

From highlights looks like his goals come from around the six yard box from crosses (this is quite obvious i know)0

You’ve obviously underestimated me. I got an E in maths O Level.I’m DOUCHER said:
Not sure how you work that out? If he started in August 24, his 3 years would be up in August 27 so circa 7 + 12 = 19 months left? Told he had a falling out with the Brum boss.Powell2ThePeople said:Rich Cawley on Substack..
“The length of deal is slightly puzzling in the sense that Birmingham announced they had signed Dykes on a three-year contract when he arrived from QPR in August 2024, meaning that he should still have 12 months left to run on those terms.”
As it means 12 months from the end of this season (so 18 months from now), it,does seem a little odd that he agreed to just 6 months. So watch it.Having said that, Mr Cawley must have got an E as well.2 -
This years Danny Hylton?0

Can also work the other way round. Leaburn has really tired toward the end in some of the games recently. Be good if he can come on with fresh legs in as much Dykes being a subsam3110 said:I'm expecting Leaburn to start games and Dykes to come on as the battering ram for the last half an hour, when we need a bit of a presence up top that alleviates pressure on our defence, or as a target man to disrupt defences and win long balls when we're chasing a goal late on.
Looking at his recent stats he doesn't start many games4 -
He'll fit in with our other non-scoring strikers then. No service = no goals.2121 said:From highlights looks like his goals come from around the six yard box from crosses (this is quite obvious i know)2 -
Is he match fit? Please God let that at least be the bottom line with our squad of semi-fit players.0

Can someone make a note of this, please?WSS said:
If he gets five goals this season, I'll replicate his tattoos on my own body.Callumcafc said:I don’t expect him to score that many goals in his half a season here - five would be an excellent return. I think he’ll frustrate a few people in the stands because of that but he’ll work his nuts off to Jones’ plan and that will make us a better team overall.

Can see him getting on with Jonesfenaddick said:
If that’s true it’s the second player that’s left this week because of falling out with Davies. He must be feeling the pressureSwisdom said:
I believe things may have got a little heated with Lyndon and the Birmingham manager Chris Davies....hence finding new place to go and play was deemed best all roundkillerandflash said:As noted by Cawley, the curious thing is that he joined Brum in summer 2024 and signed a THREE year deal, so would have been under contract until the summer of 2027, and not this summer, so has swapped 1.5 years at Brum for 6 months with us.
