Is he match fit? Please God let that at least be the bottom line with our squad of semi-fit players.
He's physically fit but not match fit .I don’t expect him to start above Leaburn or Kelman on saturday anyway.
Makes a change for one of our signings.

Have patience mate, he's got a great goals per game ratio.

He provides depth in a position we need depth in. He has Championship experience. He's not going to expect to ball to feet or to play tiki taka. How good his pressing is remains to be seen. He always felt an odd fit at Brum given the difference in styles, but he was very much their Plan B.

I think he could turn into a real fan favorite. I doubt he'll score loads but even a couple of key late goals could be massive for our season. He looks and plays like a hard bastard. He'll do for me.

Picking 99 is such an odd move.
    Surely, everyone likes a 99?

I am getting Cult Hero vibes from this one.
A last minute winner at the Den may help.

🟠 Lyndon Dykes (ST) - [Birmingham - Charlton] - Undisclosed

Has there ever been a more Nathan Jones player than Lyndon Dykes? The towering Scottish forward found minutes hard to come by at Birmingham City, but with the World Cup ahead in the summer, he needs regular minutes to solidify his spot in Steve Clarke’s squad for the tournament.

Dykes, 30, has seen his goal numbers decline each season since he moved south of the border in 2020, from 12, 8, 8 and 6 in Championship games for QPR to just one in Birmingham’s League One title win and two this season. What he does offer is physicality – and he did pop up with a few last-gasp winners for the Blues. Even a couple of those could make a huge difference as Charlton seek to avoid relegation.

Quite a few games where we’ve competed well with Leaburn battling top.. but then he tires, is subbed off and we completely deflate without any physical presence. This signing enables us to make it miserable for the opposition defence for a full 90

His season stats so far look better than I had expected, especially on a per 90 mins basis - strong link up, defensive actions and can pop up with the odd important goal

The only announcement that will get me excited is when we're told that Godden has his boots on and is ready to start a game.

I'm expecting Leaburn to start games and Dykes to come on as the battering ram for the last half an hour, when we need a bit of a presence up top that alleviates pressure on our defence, or as a target man to disrupt defences and win long balls when we're chasing a goal late on.

Looking at his recent stats he doesn't start many games
Can also work the other way round.  Leaburn has really tired toward the end in some of the games recently.  Be good if he can come on with fresh legs in as much Dykes being a sub
i expect Leaburn to be the understudy - dykes hasn't come here to sit on the bench
Is there such a thing in a Nathan Jones team?
I expect them to be rotated, Leaburn after all isn't going to be able to play every game between now and the end of the season
I know we're already in the "must win" game territory, but there is a lot of Football still to be played.
We still underestimate how much faith Jones puts in those coming on at the 50-60 minute mark.

agreed he will likely rotate them but i still expect dykes to start a lot more than Leaburn

Couldn’t have number 9 so now he has two 9’s.
Ferdinand wanted that when Shearer arrived at the Toon and took Les’s No. 9 but the powers that be nixed it.

you don't know that - they all would have turned up knowing they were going up a level and would lose the status of expected starters - i don't know the opposite about dykes for sure but suspect the reason he chose us over ipswich, leicester and whoever else would be that its his shirt to lose

Miles Leaburn's stats from last season and this season combined are 7 goals in 51 league appearances...

Leaburn is in possession of the shirt currently and doing very well.

Expect him to start tomorrow, but am certain we'll see Dykes from the bench at some point

Tomorrow is too soon for a start for sure. Jones likes all his players well drilled in the system and way we play. likely from the bench as you say and then i expect rotation and a mostly 60-30 split for them going forwards.

No but we paid decent fees and gave them 3 or 4 year deals. They all signed with the genuine opportunity to be regular starters, none of them joined as cheap squad options like Hernandez and Rousillon

I think Dykes is a good bit of business for the remainder of this season, but I would start Leaburn all day over him and bring Dykes on about 60 mins as Leaburn gets tired
