James Bree - going back to Southampton on Monday according to their manager (p16)

If we signed a wing back with 150+ championship appearances, who played in the premier league last season and has 2 goals and 3 assists this season then we’d all be absolutely buzzing
Bree would be a great signing and hopefully we can get it sorted this week to extend his stay23 -
I would keep him….seems back to fitness and had a decent game yesterday4

It’s not about us accepting anything, the manager and the scouting team will know what is out there and for what price, the desired requirements for the wingback position cost a lot of money. No doubt there are better players out there but we are not in the position financially to go out and get themChunes said:
It's all irrelevant because he's a Nathan Jones player and he will stay if NJ can keep him. Personally, don't feel we should just accept what we have because we don't know what else is out there. We might have said the same when we had Purrington and Matthews. There absolutely are better players out there.AberystwythAddick said:
I’m really not sure we can, you have to think about price and the demand for players like that. There would be lots more attractive clubs to go to atm. Bree has done alright for us and is a good championship full back. It’s all well and good saying the wingbacks need to be lighting and whip on good crosses but where is that player coming from?sam3110 said:Still think we can do better than him, he lacks any kind of pace and in a side already limited in pace we need both wing-backs to be absolutely rapid IMO0 -
I think he will be going back to the Saints.1

Hoping Sonny Carey’s Instagram story is a cryptic goodbye.1

IS a cryptic goodbye?stop_shouting said:Hoping Sonny Carey’s Instagram story is a cryptic goodbye.
Either way, we've been told he's here until after Sheff United so it would be a bit premature if it was a goodbye.
It also might just be a picture from Saturday night.2 -
Sorry, I meant isn’t! I like bree and would like him to stay past January.SDAddick said:

High level wingbacks cost millions we are not going to be spending that on January let alone on one player. Not exactly rocking the boat to say that is it.Redhenry said:

I hope we keep Bree at least until the end of the season.
Unless we 100% have someone better lined up (excluding Clarke who I see as competing with Ramsay and Burke).
We need to strengthen the squad not weaken it.6 -
Bree going back on Monday according to Southampton journo1

Please don't let him take the corners or free kicks ...I would prefer to play Apter0

Balls. That really messes with our squad depth. Basically one in, one out with Clarke. Was hoping Clarke was providing cover at RWB and RCB. Instead it looks like he will go straight into the team on Tuesday night. Well, him or Rapter, but with no natural LWB I fear throwing Rapter in would make us too open.
Whatever you think of Bree, and he's definitely improved in recent games, it's a blow to our squad depth and he has some quality about him.7 -

I'm sure that Jones would prefer to keep him, his form has fluctuated but at his best he's at least a decent option to have. Clarke will have to hit the ground running now.4
