Genuinely not sure if I’ve seen a worse 1st half performance in 45 years of supporting Charlton. Walsall at home in the cup against Selhurst maybe. Bristol Rovers away a couple of years ago perhaps. Hyperbole potentially. But I’m not sure.4
-
I’m concerned the referee will be conned into evening up the red cards. We need to be disciplined. For that reason we should take off Bree.18
-
Bree off for TC who is on a yellow. Don’t give the ref any chance to even it up.
Apter on for Clarke14 -
Haven't read the thread and I'm sure it's been said but that was a bizarre and ineffective midfield to start with.
Luckily we're still in the game and have a massive advantage. Let's go and take it.3 -
It's 5 red cards for a match to be called.off (less than 7 players playing for one team). So 3 more please!2
-
Well that was fun. We got absolutely smashed for 36 minutes, then the ref saw lots of red. Soumare defo went over the top, and Tanganga led with his arm.
Knibbs early foul should have been a yellow.
Hopefully we will see more of the ball and actually have a shot, or worst case get a nilnil.
Clarke doing ok with little support, Bree, Kekman and Ramsey poor.
COYA!2 -
Just seen this post from a Luton fan on reddit:"Love him , but if theres one manager likely to shit the bed and not beat a 9 man outfit , it's NJ"You just know as well, that if there's one team (regardless of the manager) that'll shit the bed, and not win when we're facing a team with nine men... Then you just know its going to be Charlton!!14

Lord what a game.
I don't usually use language like this but that was effing crap. It's only thanks to Kamanski we are level.
How many times have we had a throw in their half and two touches later it is back with our keeper?
Jones really needs to sort this out at half time.
And yet all that said, thanks to the fact that Sheffield united are down to 9 men we must be favourites to go on and win.
But if we end up getting mugged here then there are serious questions to be asked.2 -
Not harsh at all, led with his elbow and drew blood, clear as dayLargeAddick said:PWR. Well that was shit wasn't it. As for the reds. Anyone who has seen replays, deserved or not? I thought the first was in real time, the second a bit harsh.5 -
This match is poised for Godden to come on in the 80th minute and score in the 90th to win it7

PWR. I'm usually pretty easy-going in the "sometimes they play bad, it happens" camp. But if they can't get three points out of this then they are indeed "Fucking useless" and deserve all the pelters they get.4

Genuinely have no idea how Sheff Utd can have any complaints about the red cards. The first one was a nasty cowards challenge. Tanganga lost his head completely and it was a blatant elbow.
Let’s not gloss over our performance though. Utterly woeful, bordering on pathetic. A tactical mess and looking very much like a team plummeting towards league 1.
It says a lot that I have absolutely zero confidence that we will win this. It really has been that bad. Bree and Anderson need to be off as a minimum.
We may as well bring Dykes on for Kelman as well if we going to do nothing but punt aimless balls forward.6 -
The second half is just made for Barry Endean.1

You can take the boy out of Millwall, you can't take the Millwall out of the boy...CAFCOlly said:Tanganga has shown himself to be a real nasty piece of work today. Deserved red. W*nker.3 -
They will sit in we will not know how to play as Jones’ philosophy involves us not having the ball. They will then score on the counter 0-1 sheff utd1

That first half performance was as bad as Southampton at home, not one outfield player knew what he should be doing or who he should pass too. If it wasnt for Kaminski we would have been three down before the first sending off.2

As I said I'm miles away in the Curbs Stand, wasn't as clear cut from here.sam3110 said:

Some of the players on both teams just don't have a functioning brain. Both reds were reds and I'm really angry about the first one. I hate how unphysical football has become but those tackles have always been the exclusive preserve of pussies who will always jump out of a 50/50
The tanganga one was ridiculously stupid from him who is definitely someone who should know better.
Now for us. Fucking hell
I get they might be feeling a bit fragile after that gane last week but the stupid fouls, giving the ball away cheaply and looking to play backwards. I like Karoy Anderson but he is a headless chicken today and doing his own thing in terms of pressing. We all know he isn't Pirlo on the ball but he is excelling himself today. We are badly missing Coventrys intelligence at the base as the defence are hell-bent on giving themselves a difficult afternoon.
Second half will come down to set pieces i think, we aren't great with having the bulk of possession or being crafty offensively. They will have a siege mentality this half. I really hope we make them chase shadows and make space behind them and the crowd don't get too impatient as I think we will not see the effect properly until the last 15 minutes. Wilder isn't anyone's mug, he will have them just sit in and look to win fouls up the pitch and play on the break which that horrible little posh prick Bamford is well capable of doing4 -
Did the United players just feel bad for being so on top that they decided to give us a bit of chance?
It was always gonna be a tricky game but even when we have a half a chance the passes are wayward or we give a silly freekick away. United are clearly a level above us but it's so frustrating to watch.
Some quality Kaminski saves and a bit of luck keeps us in it and a huge opportunity to get something out of the second half. I hope we get Coventry on and can keep the ball better in the midfield.2 -
Awful first half performance, a miracle we didn't go behind when they had 11 on the pitch.
No excuses for not winning now. Sheff Utd aren't especially good defensively, their strength is up front, so not the sort of team who you'd expect to hold out with 9 men.2 -

God that was poor midfield nowhere to be seen.Just lucky our keeper has kept us in the game.2 Reds for them but why do i still feel uneasy.Still prrformance cant get any worse can it ? Can it ?0

TC doing run throughs up the touchline ... I guess that means he's now coming on.6

TC coming on. Perfect game for him to make an impact2

Ok must be time for Apter- stay wide, no one to mark him and keep banging in the crosses to an defence that’s two short.?1
-
Just back from shopping, did I miss anything in the first half?6
-
