We have had a lack of games recently so resting players may not be the best option.0

Highlights from yesterday (although they missed the third goal)

The Oxford City ground is in the middle of nowhere.0

Oxford City is out near the hospital, so there's a reasonable bus service from near the station. Absolutely years since I last went to a game there, I think it has a plastic pitch nowadays?0

If we draw a WSL team, I want a struggling one tbh, especially as it'll be a good marker for any potential playoff game and/or next year.Swindon_Addick said:There are 10 WSL1 teams among the 15 others in the draw for the next round, so we need a bit of luck even to get a draw that gives us a shot at the quarter finals. Let's just enjoy the ride as long as it lasts, and if the draw gives us Chelsea away again then treat it as a day out and then focus on the league.
So number 1 choice is Oxford or Chatham and keep momentum, next best is a fellow WSL2 team seeing as we're unbeaten against all of them, and then next best scenario is probably Everton, West Ham or Liverpool.**
I don't think we'll do well against a top WSL side yet and like I said I think we should be looking to remain undefeated as long as possible.
Only good thing about drawing a top WSL side is a potential big gate* and being on TV*- only if at the Valley. Top WSL sides away, your not going to get the big stadium. Arsenal play at Meadow Park, Chelsea: Kingsmedow, Tottenham: Brisbane Road, City and United play at Joie Stadium and Leigh Sports Village Stadium respectively for Cup games.Liverpool are not really top WSL side.**- Only one I would really want out of that is Everton (away), since I have never done Goddison (never did it with the men).League, and promotion, should be priority though.

This includes the playoff champions league game:
So just confirming WSL and Champions League (from the last 16 I am guessing) not domestic (FA/League) cup matches. Also the Women's Champions Cup (but it'll be referred to as Arsenal Stadium for the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup) is in N5:
Maybe next season, but by that point I want Charlton in the WSL.

letthegoodtimesroll said:I quite fancy another day out at Wembley.I mean yes, and last year (in the men's game) it would of been nice to get through to the Vuru Trophy final and let our youngsters play a final. (See a Valley Gold funded starting XI).That being said if you said to me: you have four games against Leyton Orient, your going to loose one- I am glad it was getting knocked out of the Vuru Trophy and not any of the league games.Same with the Women's team this year.Doesn't matter what Charlton (first) team it is, my opinion will always be: League is priority to get to the top tier- then figure out how we can be a midtable top tier side. Then we can daydream about the domestic cups.0

25 Jan: Newcastle United, home, 2pm. At the Valley. £7 adult, £5 over-65, £2 under-18. Tickets from usual website.
1 Feb: Sheffield United, away, 1pm. At Bramall Lane. £10 adult, £5 concession. Tickets from here.
8 Feb: Nottingham Forest, away, 2pm. At the City Ground. £12 adult, £10 over-66, £7 student or under-18. Tickets from here (not on sale yet).
15 Feb: Durham, home, 12 noon. At the Valley. £7 adult, £5 over-65, £2 under-18. Tickets from usual website.
22 Feb: Oxford United, away, likely 1pm but TBC. FA Cup round 5. At Oxford City FC. Tickets TBC.
Still no sign of tickets going on sale for Forest away.
FA Cup games often kick off at 1pm rather than 2, but Oxford City do have lights so that's not certain. According to the Charlton website we're expecting it to be segregated with tickets sold through the Charlton ticket office, which is a surprise.0 -

Checked it out. The route 14 from the station gets you closer to the ground but is only every half hour. The X3 runs from the City centre every 20 minutes and stops around a 5 minute walk from the ground.Swindon_Addick said:Oxford City is out near the hospital, so there's a reasonable bus service from near the station. Journey times around 20 minutes.

Obviously it was against a much, much lower standard of opposition but the players looked much more comfortable with their one touch passing and their recognition of what passes into space were on. Even under no pressure the team have been rushing passes and snatching at opportunities to put players in behind. So many times passes have been over or underhit and led to counters falling apart and us relying on set pieces. I'm hopeful that yesterday was a good chance for the players to find their range a bit more, the teams around us are strengthening in a big way and we can't afford to be throwing away as many chances as we have as I don't think we'll find it as easy to keep clean sheets against the teams bringing in £300k players1

Just to mention, the next 3 women's international windows are the qualifiers for next year's World Cup in Brazil. England & Wales both play their home games on 7 March, 14 April and 9 June. One of these two is of a lot more interest than the other, of course, unless your interest is restricted to watching Charlton players in action.
England's games are Iceland (12.30 on 7/3, at Nottingham Forest), Spain (7pm on 14/3, at Wembley) and Ukraine (9/6, time & venue TBC). Wales play Montenegro at Llanelli, Albania at Wrexham and Czech Republic at Cardiff City.0 -
The ground staff had virtually scalped the pitch which was very bumpy. The team coped very well on Sunday and played with great enthusiasm. Great to see shooting from all parts too.Garrymanilow said:Obviously it was against a much, much lower standard of opposition but the players looked much more comfortable with their one touch passing and their recognition of what passes into space were on. Forget what I said before (my 30ness is creeping up on me)- Just realised the (Women's) FA Cup final is the day after my birthday. Drinks on me. Come on you Reds, Up the Addicks!!0 -
Forest tickets are on sale. There's an early-bird discount if you buy now, but a £2 supplement if you buy on the day. Other news from their website is that they've joined the trial of allowing alcohol to be taken to seats for WSL games, although it's not clear from the announcement whether that includes the away section. Which is the other news - block A is for visiting fans while C, D and E are home sections.

Saw this in the Metro yesterday. I apprecate they are trying at least.
Anyone got any (sensible) ways they would be able to raise attendances?4 -

Get promoted and crowds will rise naturally1 -

When Louise McGinn was General Manager she worked very hard with local schools and girls teams to boost attendances. Teams were mascots for virtually every game. This added to the crowds with families wanting to see their child/sister on the pitch.JustFloydRoad said:

The new policy of trying to charge a team £100 to be mascots is ridiculous.
This sort of marketing activity has dropped off which is reflected in attendances.
Hopefully the directors announcing a single Marketing team for One Club will improve things.

Transfer news in the WSL2:
Two former Charlton players on the move: Kit Graham and Tegan McGowan have signed for Ipswich and Southampton respectively, both on loan for the rest of the season.
Birmingham have signed defender Hannah Silcock on loan from Liverpool, in addition to Asato Miyagawa, Lotta Lindström, Shanade Hopcroft, Michaela Kovacs and Wilma Leidhammar (as mentioned before).
Bristol City have signed Jessie Gale on loan from Arsenal, in addition to Katie Robinson.
Newcastle have signed Ashanti Akpan from Chelsea, Emilia Larsson from FC Rosengård and Kaitlyn Torpey from Portland Thorns.
Crystal Palace have signed Kelly Brady and Hayley Ladd.
---------
Basically, and without wishing to be too negative or alarmist, I hope our business isn't done with Katie Lockwood and Lizzie Waldie. Even before we know how much of an impact they'll have for us, it's safe to say our promotion rivals have strengthened at least as well, if not substantially more, than we have.2 -

1-0. Hutton after 15 mins. Looking the better side so far.1

Looks like maybe 200 away fans. Although that may be including a few Addicks in block F.0

That’s a good effort even if some of them are Addicks.Swindon_Addick said:Looks like maybe 200 away fans. Although that may be including a few Addicks in block F.
