HT #cafc 0 Derby 1. There are some boos.
Home side have had 54 per cent possession but Derby clearly happy for the centre-backs to have it in their own half.
Can't really think of too many chances for the Addicks in that opening 45 minutes. Dykes headed over from a TC cross and a Carey free-kick which replacement keeper O'Donnell held.— Richard Cawley (@RichSCawley) January 20, 20260 -
Macca must be the worst defender I have seen at this level5

In the space of a few months we've gone from "The Valley is a fortress" to "The Valley is a well-appointed Air BnB with fresh milk delivered daily and a regular supply of Hob Nobs and Ginger Nuts (but don't use Trap Four Curbsside). Make yourself at home!"10
-
Take Anderson off at HT and loan him out, if we continue playing him then we will go down. Love him to bits for his energy for League One but he should be nowhere near the Championship. Completely out of his depth and his only pass is backwards and mostly blind.9

How many points have we picked up any points from losing positions this season? Brum is the only one I can think of1
-
Because we've stuck it in the net for them... They dont deserve the lead, because they cant finish in a brothelblackpool72 said:

Our keeper is our best player0 -
Macca and TC as our left side is horrendous, but we already knew that and yet again we've got that setup. If your playing TC as a lwb, (which you probably shouldn't) at least put a CB behind him who is competent at this level6
-
We are so one dimensional. No fucking reaction or realisation. Only time we looked dangerous is Carey picking the ball up in space but hey we got two lumps up top so just boot it. Intelligent players should adapt in game but we are under strict instruction so do as you’re told.Fucking schoolboy and it’s infuriating.
Agymang for them looks class.8 -
How has NJ seen Anderson and think he is up to champ standard?5

Sky commentator just said we play at "The Malley"5

Jones isn’t interested in creativityMarcusH26 said:Crying out for some creativity from somewhere. Would be half tempted to throw Fullah on and see if he can produce some magic.6 -
That is about as bad as our performance against Sheffield Utd.0

Will we see Lloyd second half? How poor must Roussillon be to not even get a go on the left ahead of TC (who I feel sorry for, he's not a defender so why play him there). A total lack of creativity in the team. Leaburn and Dykes not working, would rather one of them alongside Kelman then Godden on second half with the other. Really can't see where a goal is coming from tonight.3

Nj was get snarky cos the fans werent happy about struggling against 10 men, but the fans knew it was a market for what was to time0

It's not looking good is it.

Overall I think we've done ok, probably a bit better than Derby but equally they could have had 3 goals so they won't care. We haven't created any clear cut chances and we're lucky they do incredibly dim things like cross the ball to CBT's head rather than just running at us. I'm not too angry at Gillesphey for the own goal because it can happen when the ball comes across at you like that but he was nowhere for Brereton's chance and that was enraging. TC is doing his best but isn't a WB, I would much rather we'd had Apter, though if we'd played him on the right I dread to think what CBT would have done to him. It's all a bit flat and miserable. They're quite easy to run past though so maybe JRC and Fullah can offer something later6

Started fairly well, but been poor since their goal. They had 2 glorious chances to extend their lead.blackpool72 said:

A grim watch. We look so ordinary0 -
They could go down to 8 and we're still not winning this0

Dismal NJ football0

Booting it to the lumps is fine but getting it nowhere them isnt which seems to be the case AND if by some miracle it gets near them and they win the header..we have no runners winning the 2nd ball.ValleyGary said:We are so one dimensional. I knew he'd do it when Roussillon did it 30 seconds earlier from near the touchline0

Finally, something to cheer about today!0
-
I've had it with Jones - another shite team selection - 2 big slow forwards up front and no-one capable of playing a forward pass let alone a decent cross. We are devoid if any attacking threat - if you haven't got the right players for the system ie wing backs then change the system FFS4
-
5 at the back with no actual wingbacks is absolutely hopeless3
-
This setup just isn’t working. We’re getting overrun in midfield and second to everything, and we’re lucky it’s only 1–0 because it could easily be two or three. Coventry keeps overhitting passes into Dykes and Leaburn, who just don’t have the mobility to make up for it, and TC isn’t offering enough defensively. Ramsey hasn’t been able to get going down the wing either. Something has to change at half-time, because if it carries on like this, we’re asking for trouble.
I think it's time we switched to a 4-5-1 so the wingers can attack and we still have players behind them. But they can also help in the middle.

Scrappy game & more akin to League 2 than the Championship. They had to change their goalkeeper late on but we've not tested him....apart from a tame free kick from Carey.
But all is ok. Our owners are minted & even though we dont have a fit LWB we do have until 7pm on Feb 2nd to sign players so lets be patient.1 -
So much wrong with this.Gillesphy all over the place and not even capable of holding his position, zero movement in front of the ball when the back 3 have it, slow and ponderous when we are in possession, midfield completely ineffective again, 6ft 4 and 6ft 7 up front and we haven’t put a decent cross in all game.
We are increasingly looking like relegation fodder. I don’t see where the goals are coming from and defensively we are going to ship more and more. Our midfield is too easy to play against and too slow in possession.
We have been properly found out. Teams are coming to the Valley and doing the same thing. High press, forwards dropping and running from deep and we can’t cope.
You can hear the frustration in the commentary teams voices. Steve Brown has been like a stuck record the last few games ‘we have to do more going forward’ - I couldn’t agree more, but we don’t seem to have any semblance of an attacking game plan other than hoofing it and hoping a percentage ball drops our way.
Absolutely awful to watch.
I fear an absolute hammering at Millwall. Thank god I am out and can’t watch it.3 -
Fullah and Clarke are coming on6
