Disappointing again and points dropped against an average Championship team. That said they did possess more quality than us. I have been confident that we will maintain championship status this season but I am now beginning to lose faith. Two tough away games now where I can't see a point being gained. Looked very disjointed tonight. Hope Lloyd is ok for Saturday. Maybe precautionary but regardless getting any at Millwall the way we are playing is very unlikely.

Far too many individual mistakes. Please give GILLESPHEY a rest he really isn’t up to it. Worrying if he plays against the scum he will get embarrassed, as will we.6
-
Please never play Leaburn and Dyke up top together again, wtf was Jones thinking.
Clarke needs to start and Fullah needs more minutes.19 -
I hate mid week defeats. Fucking waking up at 7am tomorrow morning is bad enough but having this shit fresh in my mind is a killer. Im also trying not to vent my frustration at home

Something looks really off with our press.Play like we did 1st half and I’d back us to go down.
Play like second half and we should be OK.
Karoy isn’t the answer. Neither is Macca. Sadly we need better.1 -
We were too passive first half. Their first, Coventry should have done better outside the area then Anderson has to be closer to Agyemang in the area. I don't blame Gillesphey at all. Second half was much better although a worry about Jones. Hope it isn't much and a precaution. Derby delayed the game at every stoppage and ref wasn't fully on top of that IMO and we should have had 9 mins added at least. I think starting both Dykes and Leaburn was a mistake and one should have come on in the second half for the other.
We seem too slow to the second ball and we wasn't at the start of the season. I think we have to change our play a bit as we can't play like we did at the start of the season as defensively we can't keep teams out in the same way. The midfield has to compete more as a unit. It is clear we need a couple of signings although Clarke looks a good one. Not all doom and gloom because of the second half but a bit of a rethink is needed. Great goal from Campbell. He needs to do that more. We know he has it in his locker.7 -
Shocking tactics, attritional nonsense with no skill or subtly.
Woeful officiating.
Derby are bob average and won at a canter
Can't see anything but relegation after that.
Stop blaming bad luck on injuries, we have signed injury prone players and gone into a season short on cover meaning those who are not injury prone are over played until they are.
Half full stadium, people are massively turned off by this nom entertainment.

From fucking useless to fucking clueless.
Do we not practice at all having possession of the ball and what to do with it ?0 -

It seems that Jones doesn't know his best team. Tonight was a significant loss, you need to be picking up points in these types of games.8
-
We were not terrible just not good enough to avoid having to chase a game again. That is sapping the team.Surprise for me was we didn’t look worse for Jones going off and coped.Fullah deserves a start on Saturday. Who knows we might just hold on and do the unthinkable.2

Spot on.Themightyath2 said:Awful first half. The starting 11 baffled me, as soon as you saw the team sheet, you knew it was going to be a hard watch.JRC was looking great - now can’t get a look in.Leaburn and Dykes should never start a game together.Macca and Anderson are not good enough at the level.Zero creativity in this team. Not sure where the next win will come from…1 -
Work with a load of Derby Fans so tomorrow will be a wfh day I think5

He wants two CDM's and one CAM. Which makes sense when you have one of your wing backs playing as a full winger and the other one a fullback.Charlton and on said:Jones doesn't seem to want to play JRC and Carey together. Someone with a better footballing brain than me might understand that. They're both better players than their alternatives.
Last season and at the start of this campaign our success was built on consistent team selections. We've lost our left wing back, a clear issue, and started to put any old line up in to compensate for it.2 -
Kenna Gough has looked infinitely better literally every minute he's played despite being significantly younger, but he's not our 'technician' or whatever bollocks Jones hangs his hat on to justify playing that absolute donkey week in week out. Thank you for the Wembley goal but every week he erodes that legacy by handing out points to the opposition like they're going out of fashion, by being fucking awful at the fundamentalsAberystwythAddick said:

TC wins man of the match again in the lounge13

Frustrating. The one time we do get the ball down and move it quickly we score. Don't want to see Dykes and Leaburn starting together again, it's one of them with Kelman or Godden.
Fullah and Clarke at least gave us a bit of a creative spark second half but you can't Alamo teams for 25 mins at this level because you're 2-0 down already. No idea what was going on after the red card with the aimless launches into the box that were aimed at no one, that was never going to lead to anything.
LCB,LWB and a bit of a wildcard creative spark badly needed and NJ to actually realise there's more to the game than just work rates.5 -
I still back Jones but fuck me it’s so frustrating. They look like they never, ever train for or give any thought to attacking play. I mean wtf that first half was appalling and then second half we had a go at them but it was all so huff and puff and confused, no system to it
fullah was ace at Birmingham the basically absent since then suddenly he’s thrown on tonight at half time ahead of both Kelman and Godden ?!
apter ace against Oxford and we won (okay “only” Oxford but still) yet not seen since and not even bench today
Anderson and no Costello
I’m not expecting miracles and we evidently have a poor squad for the division but it’s so frustrating when the resources you do have seem to be confusingly used or misused / ignored , out of stubbornness invariably (and by his own admission in the case of JRC)
7 -
First half mostly poor, second half better. Did we start to find a combo that works? I know Jones won't be keen on throwing Fullah in all the time too soon but ... haven't we always looked so much more lively when he comes on?1

Operative word being "Squad." But yes, Macca was unlucky with the own goal but he doesn't look good enough at LCB on his own. Anderson is usually so slow in possession and not a great passer. TC put an absolute shift in but we know he's not a LWB.bobmunro said:You can criticise (are we allowed?) the players, manager, recruitment, tactics, team selection (tonight wtf?) but ultimately it boils down to one major factor - the squad is just not good enough for The Championship.
That's three key positions on the pitch we need to improve. My worry is that Jones only wants to improve LWB. CM we're crying out for someone better. I thought JRC has looked good in cameos but then Jones doesn't play him consistently. Teammates don't play the ball into Anderson in tight spaces because they know he's going to lose it. To be fair, that's true of everyone bar Coventry and Carey.
We need to find some way of playing better football on the deck. We're not keeping clean sheets and lumping it long just isn't coming off. Our press is awkward and lopsided. We lack pace at the back bar Ramsay.
It might come down to three teams (2 + Wednesday) being worse than us as opposed to us being better. Which I'd be fine with to be perfectly honest. All we need to do is stay up.
I really regret Jones' decision to play Bell against Chelsea. He would be a big difference maker in this squad.
I will say it again, second half of the season is not for the faint of heart. That was true tonight, that will be true on Saturday, and it will be true probably for the rest of the season. A lot of tickers will be tested, a lot of fingernails will be bitten, a lot of nerves will be manipulated.5 -
The more games we play the less gelled we become!!Hard to not get frustrated with the manager11
-
We had league one players playing full of self belief and confidence in the first quarter of the season. Now we have leauge one players playing devoid of self belief and confidence.
Saturday will be a hoot.
Can only pray there's 3 worse sides than us herein unless we manage to get some more talent in the door then next 10 days or get our existing squad to start firing again.
Anyone know why Apter wasn't in the squad?11 -
We lost it in that dogshit first half. Great goal from TC to get us back in it, but we don't show enough of that quality.
It's going to be a slog but we are still a tight group who haven't given up7 -
Our players are so incredibly static and easy to defend against off the ball. There is no movement and variety to drag people around, confuse opponents, create spaces. Everyone just stood in their defensive shape , wait.Practice attacking mode, interchanges, creating space , working opposing defences and midfields around the pitch5
-
He takes his man on and his creative which Jones despises, same with JRC, put a rod on his back by being a good playerRodneyCharltonTrotta said:We had league one players playing full of self belief and confidence in the first quarter of the season. Devoid of idea
devoid of quality
devoid of worthy depth/experience
we continue to set up wrong, continue to find the same issues and continue to struggle to get over the halfway line!
Dykes/leaburn/kelman - not too much wrong, not really any issues outside of equally getting the ball to them.
The Total lack of movement off the ball, not exploiting the spaces and general sluggish and slow play will take us down

First time I’ve been genuinely worried about us. There is no quality, there is seemingly no plan, and there is no apparent desire to change. Derby looked about as mid table as you can get, which just shows that we are a League One team playing Championship football right now. Failure to get a good LWB and LCB will see us relegated.
5 -
Think that’s us down. Predictable. No creativity. Can’t beat the poor sides in the league.7

Much as I love Nathan's enthusiasm and love (he says) for the club, I do wonder on the 5 year contract given to him last year and it's implications for Charlton Athletic, we are looking disheveled one minute and good the next, no consistency...i am just lost at the moment2
