And if we go down we need to stick with Jones to see what he can do in the opening months next season.bobmunro said:You can criticise (are we allowed?) the players, manager, recruitment, tactics, team selection (tonight wtf?) but ultimately it boils down to one major factor - the squad is just not good enough for The Championship.

TC is a decent enough winger. Playing him LWB destroys our threat upfront whilst making us weak in defence. It's just fucking mental.18

The ‘it was better than Saturday’ comments make it even worse. Cos we ain’t that bad. Just the thing that’s holding us back is negative tactics. We could be such a competitive side but we wait till we’re 2-0 down.

Anyone know where I can get a coaching badge ? Is there some dodgy market stall in Cardiff that is knocking them out because I sure as hell don't think you have to actually earn one.aso914 said:Not saying NJ should be sacked and I don’t think he should be but any other championship club would have brutally gotten rid by now with the form we’re in so I’m tired of people acting like he needs to be handled with kid gloves and can’t be criticized. He’s in massive credit for getting us promoted but that doesn’t make him God football is a business at the end of the day.3 -
Jones isn't brave enough. We set up to try and keep it tight but we've kept a clean sheet twice in god knows how many games (and we should have been battered on Saturday).
Derby had a giant up front but they didn't lump it up to him. They used their small, clever technical players to play off him and completely carved us open for their goals.
The only time we played really quick and incisive football we scored a great goal from it.
We have to hope that there are 2 teams worse than us for the remainder of this season as every team we're playing has that extra bit of quality we just can't seem to match.

Campbell looked much better as soon as there was another positive outlet on the pitch in Fullah. Jones' reluctance to change formation and therefore his need to shoehorn Campbell into LWB is holding him back, and causing much of our frustration in the player.18

Brilliant, can't wait to watch us sign more ageing players he has worked with before toddle about the pitch while anyone with any kind of flair/excitement rots on the benchElfsborgAddick said:

Cant fault the effort really, we just don't have good enough players and the manager has no flexibility in the way he wants to play. It's gonna go down to the wire but we will be in the mix amongst 4 or 5 teams to go down unless we can get back to our best 11 that started the season or we add some quality players.2

Wait…are you saying a positive attacking player benefits from a forward thinking teammate?Croydon said:Campbell looked much better as soon as there was another positive outlet on the pitch in Fullah. Hold the fucking phone.18 -
It’s a good point this. Teams can double up on TC because he’s usually the only creative outlet in the team. Fullah gave them something more to deal with. Especially his movement.Croydon said:Campbell looked much better as soon as there was another positive outlet on the pitch in Fullah. The frustrating thing is we clearly can play nice football, why we aren't is a bit of a mystery. It's probably a combo of tactics, confidence and personnel but it needs to be sorted out and soon. For the second game in a row Harry Clarke was in acres of space, screaming for the ball and being ignored. Kayne Ramsay is not a Championship wing back and has been poor at CB for the majority of the season. The midfield has zero leadership and we've stopped looking for the knock downs around the halfway line. All of these things are fixable and not catastrophic but we need to fix them fast4

When I saw our activity in the transfer market in summer, I think it's safe to say that the goal was to hopefully just about stay up or, failing that, keep most of the squad and bounce straight back up.AberystwythAddick said:
The amount of money we spent you think there would be some fight, poorly spent budget o no players that aren’t even in the squad. We have to hope that one of either Blackburn Rovers or Portsmouth do worse than us for the rest of the season. Otherwise we're gone.
Unfortunately, I think we'll be lucky to get more than two points before March.
West Brom collapsing is a big bonus.

Highlight for me was the cross bar challenge. The crowd reaction, both ends, was heart warming. And the guys son was obviously chuffed and loved the tunnel jump.
Lovely moments.17 -
On balance should have lost on Saturday and drawn today. That's 2 points gained.9

A question for those still wondering why I keep going on about bringing in a LWB as soon as the transfer window opened......
Do you think a player and/or his club is more likely agree to join us now than a month ago ?
And if we wait until the transfer deadline the availability pool is only going to get smaller.
But then again I'm the idiot around here.

I'm assuming he played two up top tonight in an attempt to justify the Dykes signing?
What a mess of a performance.6 -
Aside from tactics, reality is 9 of our 10 starting players were playing League One football last season. Many are now playing with less confidence and as a result, less positive impact. The other (Burke) played 90 mins in just 5 games for a relegated side. It’s no surprise we are struggling to win games. Multiple players are not good enough (either at this point in time or ever) to be Championship starting players.25

We improved so much with Fullah on. At last some energy and movement in the midfield and somebody other than TC actually attacking. Parts of the second half were actually okay, gutting that we conceded the second when we were on top. First half was as turgid as I expected after seeing Dykes and Leaburn as our starting front two. Getting really frustrating now, seeing the constant chopping and changing of the team.9

I don't think this excuses the pathetic tactics we set up every week, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results2 -

I'd put Fullah in for the next six games to see what he can do.

While I agree with this it would be worse if he kept sticking with line ups that didn't work, that's the definition of insanitycrookester said:We improved so much with Fullah on. So much better than Saturday, just a shame to lose to such mediocrity.2 -
Indeed but that should have been sorted when Small left the building back in the summer and that’s where it went pear shaped as soon as Edwards got injured at the end of September.BenHaimandBikey said:

To not have any further cover since the start of the season is the fault of the manager6 -
The midfield is a shambles.
JRC started 2 games in a row and got MotM in one and not far behind the other yet has hardly featured since?!
Forget the LWB problem, without a bit of quality in midfield we’ll struggle to break teams down.4
