Just looked at the Palace fixtures and rather annoyingly i think they will be absolutely fine. 

They still have to play Burnley, Wolves, Leeds and West Ham all at home.

They're on more points than they were at this point last season, weirdly.  They went on a good run  at this stage last year.

I am sure Palace will stay up, but as it stands right now, Forest, Brighton, Burnley and Wolves are all in better form last 5 games.  One game at a time and all that, and of course for years they have mainly stayed up by beating the bottom teams regularly.  But it's a nice distraction from our debacle.

Who said they would go down this year. Maybe if they say they'll stay up they'll go down (focusing too much on the Europa Conference League)

I would like to think that being at home is no longer the advantage we might think it is at face value even against teams who will also be struggling for their lives.

In fact, their home form has been awful overall and those earlier results were achieved with Guehi, players focused under a manager that hadn't at that point announced he's leaving and their main striker, Mateta,  likely to leave during this window. 

We might well be clutching at straws but this really does not look good. In fact, Palace have won eight games away from home but, of course, they were all prior to this current run of no wins, four draws and seven defeats.

I think they'll be better now that Munoz is back but he probably needs 2-3 games to get fully fit. He's pretty integral to how they play.

Ornstein reporting that Forest have bid 35m for Mateta. Palace will only sell if they get at least 40m and can sign a replacement (they are rumoured to be in for Strand Larsen from Wolves).

Why would Mateta leave Palace for Forest i hear you ask? Well apparently they've offered to double his wages.

This is all getting exaggerated.  They only have to win one game in February and they’ll be 7 points from safety.

I’d love to see it happening but the only way it could ever happen would be to replace West Ham, a club whose relegation I’d also keenly celebrate.

With our luck, and the form of the clubs, it's looking more likely that Millwall and Palarse will be Prem and we'll be League One!

You could go back to mid-December and bet on them winning each and every one of their last 11 games and lost all of them -  even against the likes of the mighty Macclesfield. I very much doubt that they will be massively odds on to win many matches this season which puts into perspective their true odds of winning any of those. Each game is a separate entity.

In 2022-23, after 22 matches, Leicester had 26 points and Everton were on 20. Leicester picked up 7 points from their next 15 games and only ended up with 36 points thanks to a last day win against Wolves. Everton finished two points above them. There's usually one team that gets dragged into it and Palace are the most likely ones if that is going to happen this season. 

Their game away to Forest on Sunday is massive against a side that has drawn with Arsenal and won at Brentford and West Ham in their last three PL games. Win there and it could be argued that they have turned the corner. Lose and it will be 12 without a win with Brighton away to follow. The local derby! Then comes the two games they really will be expected to win - home to Burnley and Wolves respectively. How nervous will they be then against a couple of sides that might play with the freedom of knowing they are down anyway and players potentially fighting for their futures for managers who are unlikely to be leaving. Unlike Glasner. 

It's strange being a Charlton supporter. Anyone that dared to mention the "P" word last season  got rapidly shut down (and probably branded a lunatic following the Crawley defeat), we have to wallow in the expectation of relegation but to dream that a local rival might go down is derided. Absolutely nothing is certain for it were, Rodney, we would all be millionaires next year!
