He was only here 2 months or so, but I'm struggling to think of any other senior players who've been on the bench (so not injured unlike Cory Gibbs) but never played a minute, and have no V number.

Nile John was on the bench quite a bit I think.
Now playing for Feirense in the Portuguese second division!

That's our problem, we need to sign some nasty bastards.
Blimey I edited that straight away, some quick quoting you got going on.
    Cheers mate 👍

None of the players people on here are mentioning or the positions they might feel will mean anything if we cannot fix the left side of our defence. Our midfield and even attackers are forced back to cover that weakness. If we do not categorically solve this problem this week I will lose all confidence in the owners
    PS
    Chambers is not the solution

I literally could have done what he did and taken the free money. This fucking club at the moment.
What would you have done differently? He was signed as cover on a short term deal out of the window to act as cover.

that was the brief, that’s what was achieved.

not sure how “this fucking club at the moment “ comment applies here

Surely if he was cover, he would have played more than zero seconds while TC was used as a LWB instead.

Perhaps we could have given him a medical and checked his weight and overall fitness before giving him a contract.

If we did the above and then still gave him a contract someone fucked up.

We need more signings, but it’s far too early to write off Chambers.

You could see Chambers bought more balance to that left side. He has already played more games than Rousillion so thats a plus!

Joking aside, he has played 45 minute's...much to early to say he isnt the answer.

Small was gone from about January onwards , he'd already made his mind up regardless. I get NJs comments from last week about struggling to find cov

er in the summer , obviously he had Joe Bennett on trial for a bit but probably thought he wasn't up to it.
Bennett now plays non league for Walton and Hersham, probably the right call from NJ on that one.
It depends on what his role would have been. When he left Jones said the door was still ' open' but that an alternative left back was not a priority.

If we had signed another left back to properly compete with Edwards then yes he wasn't the best option.

Matched up against Hernandez and Roussillon , I think he would have been more effective as an emergency stop gap who could have been a bench option.

Now Roussillon has gone we need competition / cover for Chambers

Would love to know just how much money we've wasted this season on either pointless signings or 'players for the future'.

Ironic where Charlie Methven has just been appointed a non-exec director.
    Interesting goings on there.

Well clear at the top of their league but have now lost 3 in a row including to second placed Poole at home on Saturday. Tonight they play third placed Gloucester, at home, 10 points behind.

Do we have a scout that can get down there for 7.45? .. thought not

Because they will not recoup the cost of a relegation

They are a waste of money if 6 months later we are sending them back to where we purchased them from.

Will Apter and Olaofe all of a sudden be ready for Championship football next season, or are we preparing for another push at promotion from league 1 ?

Didnt realise we had the luxury of spending half of our money now, on the 26/27 season and then wanking the rest away on players who are not fit.

I genuinely am starting believe tha this is the plan, use the championship tag to get top end league one players in and then take the relegation. Reset how we player with players Jones wants then hopefully get promoted again.

They didn’t seem that worried about the threat of relegation and have started we are ahead of schedule. If we are where we are meant to be after the 5 years then that’s all that matters for them?

It’s nuts but just a thought

Well if that's the plan I don't appreciate being mugged off, especially if it entails another (however long) in that shit division.

I don’t believe this is the plan, but this is basically how non-parachute teams approach promotion to the premier league these days.

I think it’s a far more obvious reason why we signed top end league 1 players. Because they are the only players that wanted to sign for us. Established championship players won’t take the risk of moving to the least strong newly promoted team

We were definitely in the three least attractive destinations this summer alongside Sheffield Wednesday and Oxford.

Maybe you have to entice them with money then, can't all be from the bargain basement.. fully appreciate we are far from attractive to a lot of the players though.

As was Rodwell saying our number 1 target at left back was an untested Left Back returning from injury on loan. Absolute nonsense.

5 days left of arguably one of our most important windows of the last 10-15 years, and so far, none of the signings have shown intent, and it doesn't appear like we will be spending money.

So now I want to know if our owners are willing to spend money, or being poorly advised by Jim Rodwell that we don't need to.
