Wrong type of player to compare him to, if we were recalling someone to replace Kelman it would be Kanu. Mbick is more of the "big" striker than the little one nipping outJamesSeed said:
Then why haven't we recalled him in our time of need? Serious question. It sounds like he would be an unpgrade on Kelman.Swisdom said:Like Dan Kanu, Micah is having a great season and has clearly caught the eye.
He's a big strong boy, fast, a good finisher and he's English. Historically we would chew Brighton's arm off ay an offer like this but now we don't need to. If Micah finishes the season as one of the top scorers in L2 despite being only 19 he will, without doubt, be on many premier league club radars. He will also be in the £10m bracket.
Goalscorers are hard to find, English ones even more so. He scores all sorts of goals too but his link-up play also makes a mockery of his age sometimes. He really does have something special about him and that's why his value will be high.
We wouldn't be able to invest the £3.5m in this window so it makes perfect sense to keep hold of him, see how this season pans out and see what summer brings. His value is only going to go one way and it's not down!8 -
Which in reality is nonsense because every player at a club like ours is for sale if the offer is good enough.fenaddick said:Cawley new piece where NJ says Mbick isn't for sale5 -

Looks like they’re ready to put in a third offer for 5 million would you take that with a sell on clause?0

Bring him back and see what he can do in the Championship….if he does well price tag goes up dramatically4

And if he doesn't do well?ct_addick said:Bring him back and see what he can do in the Championship….if he does well price tag goes up dramatically1 -
This publication also said that Huddersfield are preparing a £10m+ bid for Scott Twine at Bristol City, so I'd say they publish any old nonsense.fenaddick said:

I'd take £5m plus add-ons now & use the money to buy a LWB / LB. The now is more important than the future. The now is real money that could save us from relegation......which will cost far more in the long run if we go down thus season.
And who is to say Mbick will be anything special in the future. Brighton can take that punt....we cant. 2 years ago everyone was talking about Leaburn in this situation. How much he was worth & should we turn down a bid from Chelsea. No idea if they did make a bid but I do know that 2 years down the line Leaburn is not the world class striker people were hoping he would be.

Agyemang at Derby being linked with Palace and Leeds.
25 years old, 7 goals in his first championship season.Being quoted £20m+Mbick is 6 years younger and you’ve got to add England Tax.Now I’m not comparing the two as players directly.
I’m just highlighting the potential numbers if Micah comes in and has a good season next year.19 -

Exactly. £10m+ now is fantasy, but taking £3.5m with the idea that it’ll buy us a couple of quality Championship players is equally nonsense.stackitsteve said:Agyemang at Derby being linked with Palace and Leeds.

Between injuries and game plans that have often impeded attacking play it would have been surprising if he was a prolific goalscorer or even a striker that had somebody up there with him to provide an assist togolfaddick said:I'd take £5m plus add-ons now & use the money to buy a LWB / LB. Especially when you look at how we have spent money so far this season.Scoham said:

Yeah, look at Makama. He only scored 7 goals in League One last season. Now he's at a better / more attacking side and he's already scored 10 in the Champ.letthegoodtimesroll said:

Not in the Colchester squad tonight - is he off somewhere? Or just has an injury…?0

I keep hearing that the january window is a tough one. So shouldn't we be tough too? If they want him badly, double the price tag. The club have knocked them back twice, so they seem to agree.7

With Brighton's track record of buying low and selling high, I reckon the sell on percentage is the key figure here!crookester said:Have to remember that there is a premium for strikers compared to other positions. 5M + a good sell on is the minimum we should consider and I'd personally be looking for 7M in the current market.2 -

I don’t understand why Brighton appear to be so desperate to sign him right now.1

Shoulda cashed in while we had the chance!fenaddick said:

If we manage to stay up this season and he gets some minutes and goals in the championship next time, his value is only going one way 🚀The Red Robin said:I don’t understand why Brighton appear to be so desperate to sign him right now.12 -
Our owners stated goal is to become the 4th biggest team in London. We won't do that by selling our best youth prospects for low single digit millions before they have played many games for us.
If they are serious, we need to hold on to him for at least another 18 months.11 -
If a player wants to go, it’s difficult for the parent club to keep him - contracts don’t really work like we think they should.Given BHAFC record of buying cheap and selling high, and with the history of Beadle and Sanamiento (?) going there for little or no fee, we should keep him if we can.1

Not to mention he'll generate further interest.CaptainRobbo said:
