Would like more changes but we still don’t really have the options at the moment to change the left side or midfield
Kaminski
Burke Jones Gillesphey
Clarke JRC Cov Chambers
Carey
Leaburn TCNot confident, their eleven is still one of the best in the league and they’ve now got the classic new manager bounce2 -
Was speaking to my Liecester season ticket holder mate in the office and he was not at all confident until I told him how bad we are and that we had just signed CC. He soon changed his mind and thanked us in advance for the three points. I will be there but not expecting a classic!6

Feeling more optimistic about this now that we've done some (i m o surprisingly good) transfer business .. Clarke is very good, as is Coady, Chambers and Fevrier are promising and talented, I am hoping to see all four start on Saturday
Leicester are in a mess at present. They were fortunate to win at the Valley and have regressed since then. Remember it wasn't so long ago that they won the title and the F A Cup, but in 2008 they were in the third tier. A proper topsy turvy outfit. Their main benefactor died in that horrific helicopter crash, and the King Power business (mostly duty free shops) has not recovered after the pandemic and a falling out with the Thai royal family
BUT I mainly blame Jamie Vardy for getting too old to rumble
At least a point will be ours this weekend, and very welcome it will be
EDIT .. I forgot to mention bruiser Dykes .. I don't expect too many goals from him, however oppo defences will always know that he's around
Last but not least, fingers crossed that Lloyd is fit enough to play a proper part. I do not want to see him desperately hobbling about on one good foot1 -
This just has to be an away win, would take a 0-1, but really expect higher, team selection should be interesting, and maybe see some of the newbies on the bench...COYR...🙌1

We have to hope the performance last week was our rock bottom and the 'new manager bounce' they receive is being saved for whoever comes in after A King.
First goal feels absolutely crucial (though I find myself saying that every week). If we go one up it's easy to see how a negative atmosphere will build. If we concede first, I can see heads dropping and we've shown enough times this year that we aren't very capable of coming from behind to win games.
Few tough decisions to make this week. The team I would pick (assuming Bell isn't fit):
Kaminski
Ramsay Burke Jones Clarke Chambers
Rankin-Costello Coventry
Carey
Leaburn TC
I saw enough from Clarke to trust him on the left side of the pitch, so he slots in on the left of the three; I really don't want to see Macca anywhere near Fatawu. Chambers will have his hands full and having the backup of Clarke should help. The one time Edwards didn't have that close support from the LCB in the home game meant he couldn't press aggressively, allowing Fatawu a chance to gain two yards of space to score. I know Ramsay has been poor lately but there is a supremely talented player in there and he will want to put that right. If fit, Coventry has to come back into the starting line up for me. Leaburn over Dykes, all day long. Could see an argument for Coady over Burke at some point, but not just yet. TC over Kelman based on recent performances, but I did really like the potential of the Leaburn / Kelman partnership. Huge game.

I'm hoping we don't buck that trend.peterreeves said:Hoping we can buck the trend as Leicester apparently have not kept a clean sheet in 23 games! Please let us give it a real go. Coya.3 -
You almost got me out of my funk since last Saturday then Lincs, but then I remembered the one bit of quality from Fatawu in possibly one of our best performances this season!!Lincsaddick said:Feeling more optimistic about this now that we've done some (i m o surprisingly good) transfer business .. Expecting a back five of Fevrier, Clarke, Coady, Bell/Gilly, Chambers. Leaburn up top with TC. Midfield of Coventry, Carey and probably, unfortunately, Anderson. Not expecting much, would take a point right now. Need a creative midfielder in.0

Can’t believe we are still having to consider Macca as a starter.LargeAddick said:Expecting a back five of Fevrier, Clarke, Coady, Bell/Gilly, Chambers. Leaburn up top with TC. Very nervous about this one as well.
Expecting a loss.

Im actually dreading this one. I think things could get really nasty after this game as I cant see anything but another drubbing 3or 4-0
Imo something is seriously wrong at the club as the player movement this week makes absolutely no sense however you look at it. As everyone knows we are a club on a limited budget and trying to explain to the owners that you want to ship out 2 of your major summer signings must be raising eyebrows. No incoming signings so far leads me to think that we can turn the slump around. Sad times indeed1 -
Do not want to see Gillesphey or Anderson in the team! Might scrape a point if not?2

True. His pathetic showing just really irked me. He wasn’t the only one. I really need to see some effort from them this weekend. That Millwall result was disgusting. I have little sympathy for any of them at the momentstoneroses19 said:
Don't disagree. But if we are dropping players with pathetic performances against Millwall last weekend, then we will be playing the u21s against Leicester this weekend.cabbles said:Nowhere to hide for Mr Jones on this one. To not get a response from the team after last week’s atrocity, would be absolutely unacceptable
Ramsay should be dropped, doesn’t deserve a place in the team after his pathetic performance against Millwall, players need to be held to account.Other than, I don’t want to see us start in our usual tepid manner. Get into them. Yes, they’ve become a mess under Cifuentes who has now gone, but show some bollocks after last week. We’ve got to get in their faces and actually do something when we get the ball. An early goal against us and we’re screwed.Come on Jones, time to show us you can adapt and adjust4 -
I mix my Charlton experience between live games and CATV, this weekend Im watching via CATV but if its Fatawu v Gillesphey!! when the teams are announced I think it will be the first game I have missed since pre lockdown I really cant face that prospectCharltonManor1966 said:Do not want to see Gillesphey or Anderson in the team! just hope we are the best version of ourselves10

Really simple for me. Fatawu plays, we lose, Fatawu doesnt, we lose only 1-0! Why on earth hasnt he been snapped up by a West Ham or Fulham i do not know.3
-
Clean sheet win for Leicester, the only question mark is over how many they score, I'll go with 3.1
-
Leicester haven’t kept a league clean sheet since September. It would be hugely disappointing not to score5
-
In my 26 years of going to Charlton, every time one of our squads is danger of the drop we oblige and fall apart with a wimper and go down. Praying we can finally pull ourselves together and fight to stay up this time round. I've seen this show too many times before though!4

Didn't think he'd be there at the end of the Summer window let alone now.Mortimerwasgod said:Really simple for me. Fatawu plays, we lose, Fatawu doesnt, we lose only 1-0! Why on earth hasnt he been snapped up by a West Ham or Fulham i do not know.
Thought Edwards played well against him earlier in the year and yet Fatawu was still brilliant. With James out he's definitely the key to their game. Could see a temptation to play Ramsay as LWB (like we did v Preston and T Small, which worked well until a very very fortuitous goal) to prevent him cutting inside.1 -
Is it must win?

Given our recent performances even including the freak win, then it is Leicester 3 Charlton 0. No heart over head again this season.2

Us or the players?EugenesAxe said:just hope we are the best version of ourselves0 -
After saturday woefull performance and woefull transfers ...no hope we lose this 4 -0 again1
-
What also worries me is the teams around us stand a good chance of picking up points this weekend. Worst case scenario - Portsmouth go to West Brom, I would say Portsmouth are a relegation rival but cannot see WBA remaining down there even though their form has been rotten. So a Pompey win is more than plausible. Then Blackburn host Wednesday on Monday night. We could quite easily just be outside the bottom three on goal difference or even in it depending on margin of loss with WBA setting above us who in my mind have too much quality to remain there.2
-
Surely we can do better than that...😉EugenesAxe said:just hope we are the best version of ourselves0 -
Coady goes straight in for his leadership ability. He organised defences.Try this :
kapinsky
ramsay coady jones chambers
clarke Coventry fevrier
rankin-costello Godden dyke4 -
Is that Clarke and Fevrier as central midfielders, JRC as a right winger and Dykes as a left winger?daveroan said:Coady goes straight in for his leadership ability. He organised defences.Try this :

Fair play, in a crowded competition that is the weirdest lineup I’ve seen on CL7
