The dollar’s taken a real pummelling in the last few days, wouldn’t be surprised to see it continue to go lower, which would have quite big implications on many of our pension balances as most of us are heavily exposed to US equities. Felt very confident in my us small cap exposure but a lot less sure now. I’d say a monthly close for the DXY around where we are or lower would be pretty bad.

Does anyone know any SIPP providers who offer bitcoin ETN? Thinking about taking advantage of much lower prices later this year. Chat gpt seems to only list interactive investor and freetrade… any differences between the two?
The dollar is so low v sterling, I have bought dollars this week.

I would imagine that the goings on in the gulf at the moment will have an impact?

You may be in good professional company, Stuart Kirk was at least contemplating doing the same in his FT webinar today. But the current level is historically not that low. I might join you if it soon heads below 1.40

I think it’s a bet between Trump and the adults. With mid- terms on the horizon…

US markets down today even though some of the big tech companies have been announcing better than expected figures.

And Gold has dropped like a stone over the past hour.  It was up 3% this morning to another all time high. Its now down 2.3% on the day. More than a 5% swing.

    Scary stuff.
Looks like a blow off top. Weekly and monthly candle looks nasty.

Yep probably going to go a lot lower. Will pick up some cheaper bitcoin later in the year I think.

I’m sure the crypto advocates will claim it was expected / known and some other rationale for it to climb again soon.

I remain sceptical that it’s no more than ‘emperors new clothes’.

That 30% drop is nuts, will struggle buying physical for those prices though. Still pretty much £100 a coin on ebay and big sellers have no stock.

Silver down another 10% still can't buy though.
  • Gold might be worth a 10% punt if you’re feeling super risky. But I feel as though the bubble has burst.
  • I'll be laddering in small amounts of SSLN on the way down, picked up some earlier this morning, but that's on the back of taking some profits off the table last week, otherwise I'd be watching from the sidelines. I remain optimistic for silver in the longer term.

My first post on the topic was 6 weeks ago, when I thought silver price rises were worthy of a mention on here. The brutal correction in silver over the last few days, down about 33%, sees a current price above what I considered to be noteworthy those short 6 weeks ago. The price at the end of this week could be anywhere between $40 and $120 - I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised at any outcome in that range.

As before, DYOR, I'm not recommending anything, just tracking the journey.
