MATCH PREVIEW: Leicester City vs Charlton Athletic - Saturday 31st January 2026: 12.30pm Kick-Off

-
- Leicester will be looking to achieve a league double over Charlton for the first time since 1981-82 (also in the second division), having won 1-0 at the Valley earlier this season.
- Charlton have only won one of their last 10 away league matches against Leicester (D5 L4), with that lone victory coming in February 2013 under Chris Powell (2-1 win in the Championship).
- Leicester haven’t kept a clean sheet in the Championship since a 0-0 draw versus league leaders Coventry in September 2025, going 23 matches without one. Since the start of last season, they have the lowest clean sheet percentage (9%) of any team in England’s top four tiers (6/67).
- Since the start of November, only West Brom have fewer points (1) in Championship away games than Charlton (2). The Addicks are one of only three sides without an away win in this period (D2 L6), along with West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday.
- Abdul Fatawu has the most goal involvements and assists for Leicester in the Championship this season (13 – 6 goals, 7 assists), while his 74 completed dribbles are at least 22 more than any other player in the division (Mikey Johnston, 52).

Kapinsky? Didnt know we'd signed another keeper this week!daveroan said:Coady goes straight in for his leadership ability. He organised defences.Try this :

I keep seeing Leaburn over Dykes for selection. From what I have seen, Leyburn hasn't really 'done it' at Championship level, yet Dykes has scored numerous times at international level. If we could only make more chances then I know who I would rather see selected. Dykes every time.2

What gives you any impression we might get a result at this game ?Athletico Charlton said:Need a win here. They have been very poor recently and so this is definitely one of the more winnable games we have left.
A draw, given away would just about be ok.
A heavy loss and I fear the crowd turns toxic and never recovers.1 -
We will get pumped again 0-3.Lincsaddick said:Feeling more optimistic about this now that we've done some (i m o surprisingly good) transfer business .. Clarke is very good, as is Coady, Chambers and Fevrier are promising and talented, I am hoping to see all four start on Saturday
Leicester are in a mess at present. They were fortunate to win at the Valley and have regressed since then. Remember it wasn't so long ago that they won the title and the F A Cup, but in 2008 they were in the third tier. A proper topsy turvy outfit. Their main benefactor died in that horrific helicopter crash, and the King Power business (mostly duty free shops) has not recovered after the pandemic and a falling out with the Thai royal family
BUT I mainly blame Jamie Vardy for getting too old to rumble
At least a point will be ours this weekend, and very welcome it will be
EDIT .. I forgot to mention bruiser Dykes .. I don't expect too many goals from him, however oppo defences will always know that he's around
Last but not least, fingers crossed that Lloyd is fit enough to play a proper part. I do not want to see him desperately hobbling about on one good foot1 -
Norwich were similar until they played us.fenaddick said:Leicester haven’t kept a league clean sheet since September. It would be hugely disappointing not to score1 -
About 500 tickets unsold currently- only about 30 seats, & the rest 'safe standing'0

Another no show another drubbing but only 3-0 this time so an improvement.1

Leaburn had just started to hit a decent run of form though, at the point Dykes came in.JustinKent said:I keep seeing Leaburn over Dykes for selection. Just show some fight and desire. If you can't just f**k off down the road.4

Allocation was 3,287, though whether they were all put on sale or not is another matterswords_alive said:About 500 tickets unsold currently.0 -
My heart was truly broken on Saturday, dont mind loosing to a better team, but spineless capitulation is something else. A couple of that team should have donated their pay to charity.
I travel to this game with trepidation , only a convincing win and performance will do.
Heart says 0-1. Head however can't get rid of the image of Macca tripping over the ball and nutmegging himself as the ball went out of play. 3-1 to the Foxes1 -
I'd go with this:
Kaminski
Coady Jones Ramsay
Clarke Chambers
Doc Coventry
TC. Leaburn Carey
Carey used to cut in from the left at blackpool to good effect
EDIT - On second thoughts as shit as he has been, maybe Macca for Ramsay as at least we have two left footers on that side. Presuming Bell isnt fit.1 -
Hoping Bell’s fit, if so…
Mannion
Burke Jones Bell
Clarke Chambers
Coventry JRC
Carey
Dykes TC
subs: Kaminski, Coady, Ramsay, Fevrier, Docherty, Berry, Kelman, Godden, Leaburn
2-2 They have danger-men but clean sheets ain’t their thing…1 -
FFS, surely some Premier League club must be negotiating to buy Fatawu. Or at least destabilising him enough to not play on Saturday.11

What is REALLY want is total commitment.
Millwall was a desperately limp performance, but so was Chelsea. Make it hard for the opponents, let them know they're in a battle.
Leicester will be low in confidence, the home crowd will quickly turn on them, so we HAVE to start well. We can't afford to be passive, and let them settle into the game.8 -
I think we need to be serious with the consequences of last week’s complete and utter disaster. It was totally unacceptable and there need to be repercussions.
I would absolutely drop Kaminski and bring in Mannion. If Mannion played like Kaminski did last week he would be straight out.
Ramsay should also be dropped. He’s been great for us, but that was such a horrible performance last week that he shouldn’t start on Saturday. I would have expected a midfield reinforcement or two since the Millwall disaster to freshen things up, but as that isn’t the case I have no idea how he will go.
It sounds like Lloyd Jones is injured as well? A huge problem in itself, and even more so when you consider how we line up without him. I would be tempted to go with a back 3 of Gough, Burke and Bell (hopefully he’s fit), with Burke in the middle of the 3. Chambers gets his second baptism of fire in a week up against Fatawu.1 -
If they dont get new manager bounce, then ill take a 1-12
-
Don't tell me, was their last clean sheet against us?peterreeves said:Hoping we can buck the trend as Leicester apparently have not kept a clean sheet in 23 games! Please let us give it a real go. Coya.2 -
Thought it might just be me.AndyG said:Im actually dreading this one. I think things could get really nasty after this game as I cant see anything but another drubbing 3or 4-0
Imo something is seriously wrong at the club as the player movement this week makes absolutely no sense however you look at it. As everyone knows we are a club on a limited budget and trying to explain to the owners that you want to ship out 2 of your major summer signings must be raising eyebrows. No incoming signings so far leads me to think that we can turn the slump around. Sad times indeed
Would bite your hand off for a draw.
What with last Saturday and this week's transfer shenanigans, feel a bit shell shocked.
Is it possible to sue the club for giving us PTSD?
But yet, despite the despair.
3 points to come our way. 🍻1 -
Last time we played a team who had not kept a clean sheet since the start of September was Norwich on Boxing Day 🙄.peterreeves said:Hoping we can buck the trend as Leicester apparently have not kept a clean sheet in 23 games! Please let us give it a real go. Coya.
Out of the new signings I'm expecting Fevrier to start on the bench & come on for Chambers in the 2nd half. I think Coady will start if Jones is out injured. And I just hope we dont start with Dykes & TC up front. I'd drop both & start with Kelman & Leaburn up front, with Coventry, JRC & Carey in midfield.
Cant predict a scoreline until I see the starting line up, but I think we'll do very well to get a point.3 -
Agree with almost all of this. I'd play Leaburn and TC up top, they have a good understandinggolfaddick said:

My mistake Blackburn are playing Hull on Saturday and play Sheffield Wednesday Tuesday. Pompey also have their game in hand over us against Ipswich on Tuesday. A win tomorrow would be so welcome. COYRNomadicAddick said:What also worries me is the teams around us stand a good chance of picking up points this weekend. Worst case scenario - Portsmouth go to West Brom, I would say Portsmouth are a relegation rival but cannot see WBA remaining down there even though their form has been rotten. So a Pompey win is more than plausible. Then Blackburn host Wednesday on Monday night. We could quite easily just be outside the bottom three on goal difference or even in it depending on margin of loss with WBA setting above us who in my mind have too much quality to remain there.1 -
The team will look somewhat new and shiny, but we're still shopping in Poundland and I fear we'll fall apart when put into action.
Sorry to be so gloomy, but if Nathan can pull of our Championship survival, then he is a football god.4
