Great all round performance, should have been 0-3 with Clarke netting from a corner, for the ref to incorrectly chalk it off, Carey and Dykes finished off good chances from assists from Clarke and Chambers respectively, three points we really needed, and of course great support as usual from the travelling Addicks..
Leaburn was everywhere up top as well as defending corners etc, I was also more than impressed with Clarke and Chambers, as well as Coady, they all equipped themselves well, and as much as Leicester went down to 10 men in the first half, deservedly so after a last man shirt pull on Leaburn, we were the better team throughout and would have still won with 11v11.
On we go next Friday when QPR visit The Valley, and a chance for us to kick on and make yet more daylight between us and the bottom three...COYR8 -
Carey has also been taking some excellent corners in the last 2 games - Rice/Saka like in-swinging ones that are really hard to defend against.cafcforever said:

Leaburn excellent, hold up play and seems to be regaining some pace. Having Dykes there to take some attention off him means he can drift a little more and drag defenders out of position. He gets better every game, hope his shoulder is okay.
Dykes well taken goal. Coady doing the Pratley role of being all over the ref from minute 1 and organised our entire midfield and defence. Doc looking back to his early season form. Such better balance with both wing backs being natural in that position, both putting in excellent crosses and getting an assist each. Clarke in particular loves an early cross. Fevrier looked big strong and quick off the bench. Bell back and looking class again. Some slick moves in the attacking third. Godden showing just how little he needs to get a shot off – such a difference to our other strikers.
Couple of caveats of all that, them down to 10 men gave us more space and meant Coady and Doc were given more space in the centre of the park, against 11 they might have been exposed for lack of pace. The missed pen could have changed the whole picture.
Ridiculous decision by the ref to disallow our goal from one today.15 -

Also why did Coady run up to the ref with the negative hand sign to the ref as if he had made a mistake with the Red card ? Just saw it again and it's not a good look.
I want everyone committed 100% to cafc not the club they played for last Season.
Definitely Red card despite a long way from goal which changed the dynamics in the game so we don't know if 11 v 11 with that starting line up would've won the game but a draw we would've all taken at KO.
3 excellent 1st half 'goals' from CAFC with a smashing legit goal from the corner by Carey, followed by an excellent finish by Ginger genius from a decent cross by Clarke.
Good work by Docherty and a skilled accurate cross by the impressive Chambers for a sharp finish from Dykes.
Great 3 points to stop the slide but we have so much work still to do and we don't want Miles to have another injury.4 -

I actually forgot we had a goal disallowed! Absolute travesty that that happened and the ref's very lucky it didn't cost us. I'm still mystified about why it was ruled out4

Well done NJ - looked overly defensive line up to me but the players looked comfortable and were at it - shame we couldn't /didn't start that team against millwall last week but that's history now and thank them for giving us the kick up the arse we needed. Back on track. COYR!!!0

I genuinely believe a large number of posters on here would find a lot more joy just supporting who ever is top of the premier league at any given moment, fuck me we played really well today but some are cross examining not displaying total dominance for 90 minutes. Suppose must be something to do with Jones/Doc/Apters big bust up that definitely happened

Coady looked good first half when up a man with all the possession but can see his lack of pace in the second half caused problems. We looked more settled once Coventry came on. Fevrier didn’t impress. Turned the ball over too much. Chambers looks like a proper wingback. Not going to beat many off the dribble but good crosses and adequate defending.
i don’t think that starting lineup works in most situations but up a man, it worked4 -

Last week at Millwall, I thought Chambers looked very weak. Today he showed he is a good player. Let's hope he stays fit (and Liverpool let us play him soon for 90 mins!)
The Coady signing left me very unimpressed. But he also showed enough today to make me think that he might bring some strong leadership to this team and play a key role for the rest of this season.
But between the humble pie slices, let's also just say everything went our way today for a change. We were appalling for the first 15 mins of the second half. Why sit back and just invite pressure on? If the penalty had gone in, I have a horrible feeling that we might have been looking at a very different result.
But leaving that aside, if you look back at the game as a whole things did go for us today in a way that they so often dont.
For example, Kaminski drops a shot right at the feet of 2 on-rushing Leicester players. But Bell (I think) just manages to get their first and divert it out for a corner. Last week against Millwall, that would have ended up in our net (as happened after they missed their penalty).2 -

Professional performance, we need to follow it with results in February to get closer to the fifty point mark. Absolute positives in the performances of Clarke and Chambers, the two assists were top draw, also the return of a forward with nous Matt Godden. Only a couple of more days of totally inaccurate rumours to put up with by people determined to convince us that they are more Charlton than we are, because they are in the know ! and we can concentrate on the rest of the season.3

Absolute madness that our three away wins this season have been against two clubs that were relegated from the Premier League last season and last season's Championship playoff finalists.

chambers looks real quality - great touch, rangey and that cross for dykes was pin point and chambers can put a good cross in too - fevrier didn't look great unfortunately and if nothing else, coady can allow coventry to have a rest from time to time and talk the ref to death - still think we need another midfielder and winger.0

Excellent win & the newbies all did well. Looked a much balanced side with proper wingbacks & both goals came from crosses from them. Who knew Coady could play the sweeper role & Dykes and Leaburn both looked sharp up front.
Downsides......didnt think TC or Fevrier did much when they came on and I dont think we win that game if it was 11v11.
But a wins a win. If we can take that solidity into the next 3 home games there is no reason why we cant get a couple of wins before 2 away games. 8 -10 points in Feb should see us looking up & not down as we head into Easter.6 -

Good win and a decent performance to boot. I thought we started brightly despite all of the stoppages. Brilliant play from Miles to get Okoli turned around. Never a foul on the disallowed goal, really poor decision. Stroke of luck on the assist but a brilliant finish by Carey. What a cross and finish for the second goal. Looked comfortable going into the half.
We knew there’d be a reaction from Leicester and perhaps some complacency from us. But that was a really poor twenty minutes before the changes. Soft penalty but no need for the arm from Bell; who knows what happens if Ayew scores. They seemed to have so much space out wide and a few hairy moments when the ball fell loose on the edge of the box. Professional ending to the game, but was a bit worried with Bell and Jones still on the pitch.I thought the Leaburn sub was strange but clearly more to it. I love Godden and a great finish for the offside goal; a bit surprised he came on ahead of Kelman, perhaps just a good chance for minutes. Three changes helped to take the sting out of the game. I was expecting a bit more from Fevrier with the ball at feet in that much space; hopefully just getting up to speed and managing the game.Standout players for me: Dykes worked tirelessly and moved better than he has in the last two games, I hadn’t been impressed until today. Chambers looked great with the ball and gave one of the best wingers in the league a good go. Clarke started well but faded, he has more time than he realises sometimes. Great to see the Doc back. I’m not his no1 fan but we have missed his energy; always room for improvement on the ball but breaks it up so well. Great 45 from Miles, hopefully the injury is not too serious. Lloyd imperious as always, Ayew didn’t have a sniff. Good to see Ramsay and Bell either side of him, few lapses in concentration from both but a much better side with them in the team.Interesting moment with Jones in front of the crowd at the end of the game. Quite apologetic before kissing the badge. I love him and really hope fans can be patient and stick with him and the team. Huge win, onto next Friday.24 -

With the upcoming points deduction, Leicester are in real trouble. Not enough quality in the squad to make up for the lack of team spirit and low morale. Which is echoed in the crowd, where it was like a morgue...12 -
Lloyd Jones' ongoing injury issue is a worry but he is such a warrior. He's probably going to make things worse for himself long term and if he can't play at 100%, it could cost us goals. He had a poor clearence towards the end of the match (which seemed to be injury related) that should have been punished but his commitment to the cause is outstanding7

I said in December that I thought it was stupid/crazy to not have any players on loan for the season. I know it’s easy to say. The players we have brought in on loan have massively improved us and look like championship players. 1/2 players with their quality and we should be all good. COYR9

He kept going and going and going and then gave it away which lead to another Leicester attack.
