Palace fans embarrassing themselves again

Hope I'm wrong but if I were a betting man, I know which one I'm more likely to collect on.bobmunro said:Rizzo said:
With our luck, and the form of the clubs, it's looking more likely that Millwall and Palarse will be Prem and we'll be League One!BalladMan said:
Just to the championship would be enough to piss off their support and get rid of the plastic palace fans. Millwall, palace and Charlton in the same league would be a fun season (but quite unlikely scenario for various reasons).CAFCTrev said:If anyone’s dreaming of a late-2000s Charlton-style implosion at Palace, they may want to temper expectations. We managed to make a rapid collapse into the third tier look effortless, but it would take an extraordinary level of dysfunction for our stripey neighbours to follow suit.
That's the spirit

Agreed a deal to sign Strand Larsen for 45m + 5m add-ons.
He's got 1 goal this season.4 -
That shows the gulf between our club and theirs. Mental amount of money for a middling club and player.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Agreed a deal to sign Strand Larsen for 45m + 5m add-ons.

Apparently they might not even get Strand Larsen now and instead will have to rely on an unhappy Mateta as he's not going to be sold without a replacement in0

That sounds like the sort of spending that got them into financial trouble before they got relegated the last time around and with typical charitable intentions on our part we had to help bail them out by taking 11k fans to Selhurst to the away game there. Probably won’t happen again…will it ?Chris_from_Sidcup said:Agreed a deal to sign Strand Larsen for 45m + 5m add-ons.

Doubtful. Their net spend since 2020 is 'only' 190m.letthegoodtimesroll said:

Light years away from us, but that's pretty low in PL terms. They're a very long way from being in any financial trouble.1 -

Sounds like it's collapsed because Palace didn't send the offer by the deadline Wolves set. What is it with them and missing deadlines for paperwork!sam3110 said:Apparently they might not even get Strand Larsen now and instead will have to rely on an unhappy Mateta as he's not going to be sold without a replacement in3 -

Strand Larsen is proper pony.I wouldn’t take him for 10m1

Suspect that was deliberate once someone thought about actually spending £50m on Strand Larsson for more.than two seconds.MarcusH26 said:

Palace only name 7 subs for their game today. 2 of them are goalkeepers and 2 are academy kids.

I thought we had the whole of the Arthur Waite (which is just short of 10k) and a section of the adjoining Sainsbury’s end.charltonbob said:

Stolen from Brighton Facebook pageI was trying to work out the most embarrassing thing about Palace in the past, let’s say 16 years since they rose less like a Phoenix from the ashes of administration, and more like a gurgling fetid emergence from the rancid sewers of Croydon, but the list is just too big. I know I'll have missed some too. It's an incredible record for a single club to have achieved in such a short space of time. I almost want to applaud them:Vandalising their own coach thinking it was the Middlesborough one, causing £40,000 of damageLosing to AEK LarnacaLosing to Macclesfield2p in the poundSelhurst ParkMoving lifelong season ticket holders to make space for the “Ultras”The “Ultras”The Delegation of LadsGoal musicThat’s the way we like it, we like it, wooooooah and the synchronised dance routineMost of their “best fans in the league” leaving the Amex at half time because they were losingTheir drumTrying to make not being allowed to take their drum into Arsenal some kind of fan-rights campaignThat their FA Cup win is forever associated with the most significant VAR error in any football final ever, in their favourThat their FA Cup win is forever associated with losing to Macclesfield the following yearThat their FA Cup win is forever associated with the ineptitude over emails and subsequent disappointmentInventing the year they were foundedForgetting they’d invented the year they were founded and their official kit having 1905 on the front and 1861 on the backDefecating in their own changing roomTheir disgusting song being instantly silenced by Dunk scoring against themTheir fans hospitalising 2 stewards at the Amex by trying to get in without ticketsWayne Hennesy having a “lamentable degree of ignorance about anything to do with Hitler, Fascism and the Nazi regime”The open letters their “Ultras” publishZahahaha diving into hero statusThe circus around any transfer involving themThe never-ending saga of the new standThe absolute confidence their appeal to UEFA would workThe failed appeal to UEFAThe graffiti near their ground that spells UEFA wrongPutting a Euro on their protest t-shirts for a country that doesn’t use the EuroTheir Dad’s Army tifoNot checking their emailsSelling their captain cut-price after keeping him to retain their place in both cups (oops), and Europe (having to go through the qualifiers)Selling their captain the day before a game without telling the managerTaking less than 9 months to turn against the most successful chairman, manager and players in their 3,518 year historyLetting it bounce33

Dwight McNeil's partner has criticised Crystal Palace for "messing" with the winger's mental health after his transfer from Everton fell through late on transfer deadline day.

Watching Crystal Palace destroys my mental health as well lets try and convince the premier league to deduct points from them.1 -

"McNeil's partner, Megan Sharpley, said the midfielder got "radio silence" from the London club on Monday evening.
In a social media post, Sharpley said a four-and-a-half-year contract had been offered to McNeil and that the pair had "prepared to move our life 100s of miles away" before having it "torn away" without explanation."
The pair of them should be thankful that they've dodged a bullet by not having to move to Croydon or Norwood.

It's quite strange for a deal to go that far and to fall through because the buying club failed to submit the paperwork and without an explanation to the player too.
Could it be that they pulled the plug because the Mateta deal fell through? McNeil, Johnson and Larsen combined would have made it over £100m in this window with just £20m back for Guehi.
As for Mateta, he failed a medical, is out of form and has fallen out with the management and fans. And his value will go down come the summer with just 12 months of his contract left. Delightful.5 -

Apparently they tried to switch it to a loan move at the last moment.1 -
Maybe the explanation was via another email address she forgot to check....Macronate said:"McNeil's partner, Megan Sharpley, said the midfielder got "radio silence" from the London club on Monday evening.

love to see Palace falling apart and criticised. Made my week.1 -
I've just seen that and it was changed to a loan with an obligation to buy following the Mateta move falling through. Presumably a cash flow issue. They have the similar deal in place for Guessand.Stu_of_Kunming said:Addick Addict said:It's quite strange for a deal to go that far and to fall through because the buying club failed to submit the paperwork and without an explanation to the player too.

So it appears that Mateta has a knee injury, one that he has been playing with and requires surgery. Mateta obviously knew this prior to his medical and presumably Palace did too in which case they might have been trying to get away with selling damaged goods. Mateta must now decide when he had that op and whether that timing will adversely affect his chances of making France's WC squad.0
