Harry Enfield and Vic Reeves. Their sidekicks had the talent.

I would agree with Harry Enfield, Paul Whitehouse was the main man. But I would disagree with Vic - he was an equal partner with Bob on the talent front in my opinion.

Whitehouse is obviously very talented in his own right, but I still think Harry Enfield is quite funny.

Rightly or wrongly, I always automatically assume hecklers are stooges, so when the act falls flat, it tends to come across a lot worse

One of our own has just started out on a stand up career, Dean Sims, or trucker Deano, he may even be on here, sits in the Covered end, pal of mine.

Bit harsh putting him on the 'not funny' thread

But ... if he came along to my local fishing lake with his Middlesbrough sidekick and a team of TV cameramen and film-set location food facilities, I'd say ...

    "Oi!  Whitehouse.  No!"

"I admire your ability to parody diverse characters and highlight their more obvious stereotypical features, albeit with a slightly nasal accent ... and I do recognise you to be a multi-talented, yet frequently underestimated colleague of the godlike Harry Enfield."

"But if you think you can come down here and tickle my trout while I look on impassively, apparently overawed by your perceived celebrity status ... you are very much mistaken, my catch-phrase obsessed friend."

"There are rules and byelaws which apply to this Angling Club, and you are subject to them just like all the rest of us.  I deplore your implicit assumption that a genial TV character and a purveyor of feel-good mid-evening entertainment should sit above such regulations.  This is not 1930s Nazi Germany."

    That told him.

Was thinking of doing something in a similar vein, but wouldn't have done it as well as you.
    So am glad I didn't bother. 👍
