Misunderstanding between Dykes and Carey soo the ball's out for a QPR throw by the dugouts.

Overall we've looked like a decent champ outfit - very promising.

If Jones can turn this into a win we will be looking forward to the last third if the season.

Agree but at the moment there isn’t much Jones should change, we’re missing individual quality rather than tactical things

Decent half from us. Hopefully the dark days are behind us for now.

    HT 0-0
  • Phew... Dykes fails to play a short pass to Coady, and it goes for a throw
    Much more like it Charlton!!

Someone has had a word with TK, he’s not rooted to his line anymore. It’s like watching a different keeper

Pleased with how we've done so far. The press has been really good, and with a better bit of composure think we could be ahead. Feeling itll be 1-0 to us second ½.

QPR come forward, brief moment of confusion between Jones, Bell and Kaminski, Kaminski comes to the edge of the box to grab the ball.

I know we haven’t scored but that’s one of our best halves of the season

HT 0-0, good first half from us showing some very nice stuff, just need to convert the chances into goals second half...COYR
  • Whisper it quietly, but... Balance!!
We've got proper round pegs in round holes across the entire team, and importantly we've got natural Wing-Backs on both sides. As a result the team as a whole has the confidence to do their jobs, without having to think about supporting / covering others who are being forced to play out of position.

LOL! Ref blows the whistle for a free kick, Jones thinks it's half time so starts to head for the tunnel and has to walk back. Free kick is taken THEN the ref blows for half time, and Jones heads off, with eyes raised to the sky and shaking his head. Fairly restrained reaction from him TBH.

Get Vale a second yellow then its pretty much guaranteed 3 points!

Think we’ve been the better team in the first half. QPR are sitting very deep and our crosses into the box are easy to defend. They’re not letting our wing backs get crosses in and are doubling up on them. There’s plenty of space on the edge of the box. We need to work the ball into a few shooting positions.

Decent first half, we look more like a Championship side. Just a bit more quality needed to get that first goal.

Look, I don't want to say this without thinking because I know it can be a touchy subject, but I would describe this first half performance from Dykes as Yann-esque
Dykes will never have the artistry or charisma of Yann, but he's certainly getting stuck in.
I agree with the point though that lovely deft finish last time out suggests there is an artistic soul somewhere underneath all the tats and thuggery (not that there's anything wrong with that!)
I'm sure he loves his mum and cries at the opening sequence of 'Up'.

Let's face it though, a tattooed thug is probably a better fit for Nathan Jones' Charlton anyway. Dykes has certainly been Yann like in the number of headers he's been winning.

  • Can’t really understand the criticism Kaminski has had this season, one bad error letting a cross float in against stoke but he’s miles ahead of the keepers we’ve had over the past 5-6 years

We've looked decent so far, still the odd lapse in concentration but if it wasn't for their keeper making two solid saves we'd be at least a couple up. Need to keep the same intensity second half.

    HT.

Took us 10 mins or so to get into the game but the last 20 mins have been all us. Really should be ahead but their keeper has made a couple of good saves. Have had the run of the ball / refs decisions as there have been a couple of times when a handball has helped us.

Just need a bit more quality in the 2nd half & we'll win it. Just hoping that this is not another Leicester where they win it with a worldy when we've had all the chances.

A point is not enough for all the effort & play with had.
  • Campbell on at some point in the second half to scare them, but we look decent value so far

Good half, want to win but don't want to lose. This is the level that we will need to play at to survive. The newbies are doing well especially Dykes but Kelman is certainly playing well. Just need the midfield to come together more.

By the way not watched much of Charlton live but is Brownie a fan because he's really depressing.
  • Good half for Charlton  bit more in the final 3rd and we will be OK? Bell and Chambers looking good on the left.
  • Not too fussed that we've not scored yet. Think it was post Derby, where Nathan voiced his frustration that we kept starting games slowly, conceding early on, and so stopping us from containing in the first half, and going for it more in the second half.
Almost seems a deliberate tactic to prioritise being 0-0 @ HT worst case scenario, being ahead if its possible, but being more attack minded second half.

Hope we find a way to get him and Godden on the pitch without putting TC at wing back. Would hate to lose Dyke’s height too though so it’s a headache
