@laurathered I’m surprised I’ve enjoyed Shrinking so much, given I find Alice and Brian really annoying!laurathered said:
Love all of those. New series of shrinking out next weekAFKABartram said:I generally get an hour an evening to myself to watch a tv programme, and operate a ‘basket of programmes’ where I’ll have 3 or 4 I’ll be alternating simultaneously.
Current basket of Landman, Yellowstone, Shrinking and Slow Horses is quickly coming to the end. Have enjoyed all of them and get that sad feeling when I know a batch are coming to an end :-(
Finished S2 last night, nice ending. Look forward to seeing where it goes in the new series2 -
Watched the first 4 last night - interesting storyline and an excellent cast. Very gentle comedy and well observed.Clem_Snide said:New Mackenzie Crook (Small Prophets) released on iplayer today. Have watched 3 of the 6 so far. Very different from the Detectorists, but am sure fans of that will like this.2 -
Finished Night Manager 2....very good hoping for a series 3.1

Watched the first episode of Small Prophets. Don’t have iplayer so it’s a week by week job for me.
Love seeing Palin on my telebox he’s just brilliant.
And I’m getting serious ptsd from my Crayford Homebase years……..
it really is like that 🫣😫😂😂1 -
Is the lack of iPlayer a location thing? If so, a free VPN set to London will sort that out.KBslittlesis said:Watched the first episode of Small Prophets. Don’t have iplayer so it’s a week by week job for me.

We have one left to watch, which we will save for the weekend with a bottle of wine...ME14addick said:
I've really enjoyed this series, watched the last one last night and it didn't disappoint.HastingsRed said:Been watching Lynley....it's set in Norfolk but most of it is filmed in Ireland. Seen 3 episodes with one to watch.
We only recently re-watched the original series, so it's nice to see a different take on it. Very enjoyable.
Apologies for getting (what some will see as) a bit political, but I did raise an eyebrow that Havers is also played by a toff in this series. Not to say that Sofia Barclay isn't good in the role or that she does not deserve it (it's acting, after all), but it bears out what I have seen written and said about the difficulties faced by young working class people trying to get into the business these days.0 -
How to get to Heaven from Belfast(Netflix)
Comedy thriller set in Ireland. Just watched the first part - very funny and interesting storyline. Set around a reunion following the death of a school friend.1 -
Gave Lord of the Flies a go. Absolute shite.0

Yes just started it too. Basically grown up Derry Girls, but then it is the same writer.hoof_it_up_to_benty said:How to get to Heaven from Belfast(Netflix)

Might just out of curiosity...we done the book for o-level English.ValleyGary said:Gave Lord of the Flies a go. Absolute shite.1 -
I thought it was brilliant, even better than the Peter Brook movie from many years ago. The boys' acting is uniformly great and I love the way the island is made to feel strange and dangerous. The struggle for power and the boys' descent into savagery is frighteningly relevant.ValleyGary said:Gave Lord of the Flies a go. Absolute shite.3 -
I got about 5 minutes in with lord of the flies, I had just finished small prophets and wasnt entirely focussed so parked it
I distinctly remember doing the book and film at school and a subsequent consequence is watching bear grylls island and being maddened that none of them use their glasses to start a fire, preferring instead to get the hump rubbing sticks together instead
Anyway, I'll give it another go
Small Prophets however is brilliant1 -

Currently watching 2000 Meters to Andriivka on Sky Documentaries.
About as brutal a war documentary as I have ever seen. Filmed largely on helmet cams worn by Ukrainian troops.
Its not an easy watch and definitely not for the feint hearted, but it brings home the Stark reality of the war in Ukraine in an almost visceral sense.1 -
I just saw the news that the co-creator of the show is found dead in a Greek hotel...bolloxbolder said:
Yeah mentioned it a while ago. Great tvCharlton_Charlie said:Wife and I have been watching Tehran on Apple...Mossad spy 'thriller'...good pace, good acting and an easy watch...(and bonus that we both like it). Don't think have seen it mentioned on here, so a recommend from me (and apologies if I'm several years late to the party.....).0 -
Industry has been a mad series this time round
I was worried they had run out of road but the last episode was excellent.
Had something for every persuasion of wrongdoing0 -
This week’s episode of a knight of seven kingdoms was brilliant going back to the best of GOT. Only thing was I thought the flashback went on a bit too long for a programme that is short.3

Think that's always going to be an issue when trying to wring six episodes out of a short story/novella. Getting the pacing right is tricky, I think they got it mostly right but I agree about the flashback (which is a show invention.)guinnessaddick said:This week’s episode of a knight of seven kingdoms was brilliant going back to the best of GOT. Watched the last episode tonight. Always good to have a tale of murder, mayhem and childhood trauma to take away the pain of watching Charlton.hoof_it_up_to_benty said:
