Many of us think that we will get battered and we all hope we are wrong.

My view is that he should mix up the midfield a bit.

Why not put Sichenje in Coady’s place and play Fullah instead of Carey.

Replace Docherty with Coventry and pick Kelman to pay with Dykes.

If NJ insists on the same tactics, maybe some changes may help ?

Nathan had us playing a 4-4-2 after the subs Tuesday. Will he start this way Saturday?

    Kaminski
    Ramsay - Jones - Bell - Chambers
    Clarke - Coady - Coventry - Campbell
    Dykes - Kelman
  • Can't see anything other than a defeat. Southampton will be too good for our archaic hoofball.
  • Bloody hell, I hope the team have no contact with this thread, and go into the game with a bit more heart and belief in themselves than a lot on here seem to have, saw someone actually liking a 5-0 defeat post...ffs

Why are people so keen to drop our top scorer, instead of making sure he is put into positions where he does his best, Carey has to be in any of our midfield combinations, none of our other midfielders look forward and they are all shitscared of shooting, I’m not even contemplating Fullah in this conversation.

Would hope for Mannion in goal, but just KNOW it will be the estimable Kaminiski AGAIN!!  Good 'shot-stoppers' win situations, but rarely win matches.  On a different note, interesting to see a shrewd bit of marketing on the CAFC website, reminding all that the game will be available on CharltonTV to Sub-Saharan Territories in Africa including, of course,.....Kenya - and Sichenje's fans!! Good revenue stream there!

Because more of the same may end in yet more failure.

No spite towards Sonny but maybe a change will help the team , maybe it won’t.

But if we do get battered by doing now of the same, how does that help anyone ?

We need someone in the middle who is able to pass. Why not Fullah?

Because Fullah is at best an impact sub, not ready to start and when he has it hasn’t gone great. He should come good but not yet.Dont see how taking out the top scorer and most forward thinking player we have is beneficial for just changing sakes. He’s not perfect but mad to drop.

Shameless Happy Birthday to my Son who turns 8 tomorrow ... whilst he's not much of a Football fan ...
A real father would soon beat that into him.

Will come down to whether we can press effectively and prevent them getting through midfield.

In the absence of Anderson, i would start all the players who can press and defend. I've picked TC instead of Carey as I think he oresses and defends better and thats also why Kelman starts rather than any other strike combo.

            Kaminski/Mannion

          Ramsay Jones Bell
    Clarke.                    Chambers
        Docherty Coady TC
          Dykes/Leaburn Kelman

Ideally we would play Kaminski and Mannion as well as Dykes and Leaburn but the ref would probably notice.

  • Leicester (22nd) and West Brom (21st) complete their Saturday lunchtime games before we kick off. Blackburn (20th) play tonight.
  • I want to see Mannion start.

If he doesn't start tomorrow, he never will.

On the bright side, at least Bree can't play against his paren ...

    Oh shit.

Nailed on Jimmy Bree screamer from 25-30 yards. Going straight through Kaminski is an optional extra.

    • Southampton won 5-1 away to Charlton in November of this season, and could win home and away against them in a league campaign for the first time since 1989-90, in the top-flight.
    • Southampton have won both of their home games against promoted sides in the league this season (2-1 v Wrexham and 3-1 v Birmingham) – they last won three in a Championship campaign in 2007-08 (v Blackpool, Scunthorpe and Bristol City).
    • Southampton are unbeaten in their last five league games (W4 D1), winning each of the last three on the bounce.
    • Charlton Athletic have won just one of their last 10 away league games (D3 L6), though that win came in their most recent game on the road (2-0 at Leicester).
    • Charlton have scored 11 goals via substitutes in the Championship this season, with only Ipswich Town scoring more (12). Indeed, both of Charlton’s league goals in February came from substitutes (Campbell vs Stoke and Fevrier vs Portsmouth).

Tuesday was so bad, you should hope for an immediate response.  That said, I’m going and I’ve never seen us win at either the Dell or St Mary’s
  • Not looking forward to this one. They are on fire and their reserves comfortably dispatched Leicester in the cup. Early goal and we could be in trouble. Hope for the best, fear the worst. 3-0 to Southampton.

I live 10 mins away from St Mary's, my partner (who is massive Saints fan) is going, but i've got our 3 year old for the day.

Used to work at St Marys, still got my old lanyard might just try blag it onto the away concourse with the lad 😂. Guessing we've sold out, but if anyone does have a spare or ticket or two they no longer need let me know !

    Cheers

Edit: just realised tickets on the gate. First Charlton game for the lad incoming.

I think it's time to bring TC and Coventry back into the starting XI. Against Southampton, we're going to need more mobility, especially in midfield. How I think we'll line up:
    ............Kaminski*
    ..Ramsay....Jones...Bell
    Clarke..Coventry...Docherty (C) Chambers
    ...............Carey
    ...........Dykes....TC

*Kaminski isn't getting dropped. I know he's made two big mistakes this season, but he's still far and away our best shot stopper, and he'd kept three clean sheets before Tuesday night. Mannion is a good backup, but he's just that, a backup, at this level.

The only prediction I have is that we'll be better against them than we were at The Valley.

Couldn't decide so did all of them, in doubles with Leicester -1 at Stoke (11/2). This is the most efficient way to guarantee a result.

Why Kaminski done nothing wrong and without him we would be bottom 3 plus dropping officially best keeper in championship really ???
