Fair fucks Brook. Batted beautifully under pressure.

Go and have a drink tonight lad - you’ve earned it.
  • Captain’s innings so far
Should be enough to see us home

Shaheen bowls Brook next ball but the damage has already been done with just 10 required off 18 balls
  • Boo useless Captain!
  • So pleased he got the 100 before getting bowled!

    Well done Harry Brook.

Every partnership of this England innings greater than the one preceding it is an interesting stat.

I’m not really sure what Jacks plan has been the last 6 balls.

Genuinely think some snot in a jar has a better cricket brain than some of the England batsman

England win by 2 wickets with 5 balls to spare so into the semis.

Plenty to learn from and work on though because this victory was only due to that magnificent MOM innings of 100 (51) from Brook.

Somehow England have managed to reach the semi final without hitting top form.
Hopefully saving their best till later.

Baz owes Brook a few beers, as long as they stay away from any nightclubs

What's the chances, with a dead rubber coming up for them and the semis not for at least another eight days, of the whole squad not getting bladdered?

I'm going to say there are similar chances of Charlton getting promoted this season

On a more serious note, England don't know where their semi final will be because of all the different permutations around who qualifies. Another total farce

Superb knock by Brook, who becomes Bradmanesque against Pakistan, but 4 of the top 5 getting out for single figures isn't great.

We need to treat as a super serious game, but one with no pressure on it, if that makes sense. Salt and Buttler making a big opening partnership would be such a benefit going forward.

And nor is the Surrey boys, namely Curran, Jacks and Overton, doing their very best to throw the game away. We've come to expect that though.

That is Buttler's chance with the pressure off. The alternative to dropping Buttler or keeping him in the side and pushing Banton up is to bring Duckett in for Bethell. It's clear that Bethell is struggling with that hand in the field, he's not allowed to bowl because of that and has looked a bit in headlights in the last couple of innings. Buttler not facing that new ball might bat with a bit more freedom too.

If we are going to make changes, though, then it probably has to be for the NZ game coming up. Opening with Duckett would also give us a left/right combo up top. The order would then look something like this:

    Salt
    Duckett
    Brook
    Banton
    Buttler
    Curran
    Jacks
    Overton
    Dawson
    Archer
