Good lord ill never get that 45 mins back
  • Why can’t we ever take a game by the scruff of the neck and say to the other team ‘come on, then.’ We’re playing pretty much the worst team in the league who are bereft of confidence, fans booing them off last game and a manager who seems totally out of his depth. And yet again we subside, give them space and let them take a hold on the game.

It’s as if Jones has absolutely no confidence in this group of players.

Bottled it against Millwall, bottled it against Pompey and doing the same this evening.

    Spineless.

Terrible goal to concede - just before half time. Jones on the pitch, we don’t concede that.
Ref gives Charlton a free kick & we are at their end. He gives it to WBA & they are at our penalty area.
Charlton poor but WBA hardly threatened Charlton goal.
Ref total fecking s***t & giving decisions WBA tips the game their way.

That performance is so, so poor. I can understand about not being expansive against the better teams but we are even poor against those around and below us. West Brom are on a shocking run. Go there, get at them, get the first goal and it would become toxic. Instead we are so insipid. We need to improve dramatically second half. Why, with two big lumps up top, does the ball never stick?

We’ve been poor and losing Lloyd Jones hasn’t helped

Another match thread, another day of me saying we did not sign the type of CM that we are crying out for.

It's been painfully obvious the last few games that we need a CM that can control the tempo and play forward. We don't and we're dying in there.

    I do worry for us.

And there's definitely nothing "charming" about that ref.

What a remarkably shite half of football strewn with errors, virtually no attacking quality from either side with us set up so deep kaminski must be having to fish players out his arse at half time and then we concede.

Utter, utter dogshit. Feel for those in attendance.

Bypassing midfield constantly, and no-one to get a second ball.

When Docherty and Carey get the ball they literally have no attacking nouse, but singling out players isn't really fair - it's down to coaching/management/squad choice and game-plan.

We played like this (with this team) against Pompey, Pompey were miles better than WBA are today.

I'm fed up with the excuses about us being new in this league.
Some of the shit they are churning out is schoolboy stuff.
F*******g brain dead to a man more often than not.
  • Really poor half. Exactly what you feared with the line up - long balls up top that don't stick, no play through the middle and no ability to get the wingbacks involved. It's what we look like when things aren't working. Capped off with conceding a very soft goal. Changes needed at the break of we are bang in trouble

Jones has got that first half 10000% wrong. To let them score whilst not laying a glove on them is criminal. They are absolutely awful.
I think you mean the players have got that half 10000% wrong. I doubt Jones has told them not to test the defence, not to score and to make sure they concede off the back of a dodgy reffing decision.

The two lumps up top don’t work with no wingers or crosses coming in. Saying that, it doesn’t work at home either.
    Yet Jones persists with it.
Surely Fleming & the rest can see this or is it Jones way or fuck off. Pitiful !

We are so poor going forward. The pump it long looking for flick ons isnt working
Even worse when both the strikers are target men and flicking it on to nobody

Clarke looking awful, far too slow for this game.  The one time he showed pace to get down the other end he hoofed it to the other side of the pitch.  One of Dykes or Miles has to go for Kelman too, probably Dykes, Miles is doing well in winning the ball.  Doc once again looking good off the ball and not so great on it.  Cov on?

    EDIT: Forgot about TC!  :D

I don’t think that was the best version of ourselves
  • Saw that coming since about the 10th minute.
Evidence and experience tells us we're not coming back from that.

Tactically, when sitting back absorbing pressure and hoping to nick it doesn't even work with Brom, something needs to give.

    Can't wait for Saturday....

Need some braver subs here. TC on for sure. Probably JRC for Coady or Doc - he may not be perfect but at least he can play on the half turn and work the ball in tight spaces. Maybe Coventry on for the same reason - better on the ball than Doc. Perhaps Fevrier on one side or the other too as we've really struggled to get the wing backs into the game.

As has been said before NJ style is anti football it has gained us points against teams we wouldn’t expect but it costs us points against teams we shouldn’t be losing too. Absolutely no ambition to try and score the whole plan is don’t concede and hope for a lucky break to grab a winner. Change of plan needed now NJ or we lose this !!!

A couple of changes and the game is there for the taking. Doc needs to be off definitely. Cov on and TC for Miles. ?

Don't need Cov on, he's more conservative than Maggie Thatcher ffs

Jones doesn’t know how to coach a team to attack, still don’t believe he’s the right man for us going forward.
    Agree, bring back Appleton

2 months with Jones and Clarke and Chambers appear to have had all the attacking quality sucked out of them.

We looked half capable when they got forward. Jones has cleaely given the instruction not to tonight and we look like relegation fodder.
  • Lack of crossing is actually insane. Since Leicester can hardly think of any, and no successful ones. Feels like teams know to nullify that and are able to very easily. And we don't seem to have an answer

Nothing wrong with the ref. Nothing to do with losing Jones, Collins looked like our best footballer when he came on. Everything to do with the terrible lineup and tactics

Think I’d bring on JRC for Carey. Someone who can put their foot on the ball and get their head up to build some possession from midfield.
