Worth it to get all those invites to film premieres.

We may be scabby, but we could never possibly be as old as Crystal Palace who were apparently founded in 800 BC.

Not only that. Being a carpenter, he helped build the Arthur Waite stand.
Was also a trolley boy at Ye Olde Sainsburys helping to scoop up donkey shit to spread on the pitch.

    A pair of Nautical Bookends
  • I was pretty stunned when I heard Murphy say this, it goes to show what canny operators Spurs were in the transfer market.

They basically said, "You want to get out of Charlton and come play for a big club, then you'll do it on our terms."

Not that it mattered in the end because the poor bugger ended up losing about 5 million of his cash to unwise financial investments.

You don't want to believe everything Murphy has to say.

He does come across as someone who exaggerates or talks bullshit. Hear him on talksport and his ability to talk about different sporting subjects without any insight is pretty incredible, then again most of the talksport commentators/guest are like that.

Agreed also he could be bending the truth. I know for a fact certain players claim they are taking a paycut but have 1 year left on their contract and accept slightly less for a longer contract and end up quids in.

He signed a 4 year contract and didn't do 18 months.

I always got the impression that Murphy thought he was too big for us throughout his time here and that he was slumming it. I've never heard him say anything nice about us and the fact that we revived his fortunes doesn't register with the large headed moron. I thought he was a decent player but a total cuc of a human being. He is one ex player I despise, utter shitehawk.
Contrast him with the pure class of someone like Darren Bent to see how ex players show dignity and respect.

Yeah, that was a shame. I wonder if he had to sell his watch? And I wonder if the lady on reception ever got back in touch to say, "Despite earning a lot less than you over the years I've got £20k tucked away in an ISA. How's your nest egg coming along?"
