A Harry Brook masterclass and £1 pints - not bad!
You're gonna struggle to make the Hawthorns for kick-off.

New Zealand having a go at the end of their innings after a mini collapse earlier on. They were 84/6 after 12 overs.

Got to a decent total of 168/7 against the Sri Lanks. last wicket went on the final ball

6-2 and Matt Henry has 2-0. Born and bred in Kent. Well he learnt all there is to know about bowling in his spells there anyway.

Sri Lanka, given the conditions are known to them, have been totally passive. They are 27-2 off 8 and Kusal can't run so he's, effectively just chewing up balls with 11 off 21

In fact, he has literally just given it up by walking passed one to be stumped. Put out of his misery fortunately for Sri Lanka but damage is done as needing 142 off 71 balls is not going to be possible on this track.
  • Run out as well now. Kusal barely able to run so probably best he leaves. 27/3
  • Another one stumped. Sri Lanka are falling apart.

And then Rathnayake does exactly the same thing as he is stumped off Ravindra too. Absolutely shockingly inept display of batting.

    29-4 (8.2)

Is it really that shocking? Given how they did against England I'd say this is about par

At home, big crowd, should know the conditions and yet this is their effort. They are useless. 59/6 now.

Funny they beat Australia before their form nosedived though.

Nissanka came off. If he fails they all fail

I said "shockingly inept" which applies to both innings. There was absolutely zero intent and by that I mean rotation rather then trying to hit the ball out of the park. In fact, why is Kusal even playing as he went into the match with the injury and couldn't do that anyway?

NZ's ability to play five spinners is a big plus whoever they play in Sri Lanka. Will make the encounter against England interesting providing we've sobered up by then and haven't left our game on the golf course.
  • Sri Lanka are limping out of the tournament. Pathetic showing by them at home.

    77/7

    Plus it's at this ground
  • 65 needed from this last over
  • They haven't really bothered, not even flashing the bat at it

  • 107/8

61 runs short of new Zealands total
  • That last over summed them up. Wicket lost and only 4 runs made.

Such a massive win is great for NZ's net run rate. If England narrowly beat NZ, then Pakistan will need to hammer Sri Lanka to overtake them.

West Indies looking to make full use of the power play against SA with just the two men outside the ring. Off to a flyer with 43 off the first 4 overs. Just one problem - they've lost 4 wickets in the process!

South Africa have also dropped 3 catches too. It's all been happening!

The Windies haven't quite worked it out yet that this is meant to be a 20 over innings.

NZ showed yesterday, when they were 84-6 off 12, that if a pair takes a bit of time to assess the wicket, you can get a decent score. That pair took the score to 98-6 off 16 but still ended up with 168. The Windies have had a much earlier opportunity to consolidate.

    176-8

Holder and Shepherd did just that with a world record partnership for the 8th wicket in IT20 of 89 runs off 57 balls. Off the first 17 balls they scored just 14 and only once they had the pace of the wicket did they launch. Too many of their predecessors tried to do that from ball one.
