My Dad used to tell me that he used to sometimes see Sam Bartram on the bus from Greenwich to Charlton on match days. Cap and boots to hand. Good old days indeed.....Isawlearyplay said:And what a player

I used to get regularly get the same bus as Mark Penfold, he was off to the match and I was getting there early to sell programmes. He would get on alone just after the Well Hall Roundabout.CharltonManor1966 said:

I know that he was only 16, but it's not possible for that to happen these days. It's great that I lived during those times.2 -
I remember seeing Garry Nelson on the platform at Charlton station once after a game. Again… different times0

The other Charlton kid is Brandon Scot aka Swarmz - so I'm told. He is one of those rapper type fellows.

Just found this in a wardrobe. The relegation threat that followed that promotion (and the 1998 one for that matter) has finally been laid to rest1 -

Blimey - if Leaburn could jump like that he would be higher than the West Stand!Gribbo said:
Players jumped much higher in the 1950's.
This is attributable to global warming. As the ice-caps melt, the mass of the Earth has increased and this has made gravity much stronger than it was immediately post-War.
If Newton was alive today, he may well have been concussed by the falling apple.
Cameramen were also smaller.1 -

I think it might be SB. Behind the ball boy there seems to be more space / ground which The Valley has never had.stockportugaladdick said:Having a bit of a disagreement, is this the Valley, yay or nay?I say yes but someone swears it Stamford Bridge?

Could be SB, this is SB from 1955.charltonnick said:

I think more likely Stamford Bridge. If it was The Valley this would be the angle from behind the south goal so the East Terrace would be a bit more square on, whereas this looks like it has a bit of a curve.stockportugaladdick said:Having a bit of a disagreement, is this the Valley, yay or nay?I say yes but someone swears it Stamford Bridge?

Not sure about one or two but: Mike Flanagan, John Pender, Mark Stuart, Robert Lee, Steve Gritt, Alan Curbishley, Steve Thompson, Nicky Johns, John Pearson, Jimmy Hill, Mark Aizlewood, Mark Reid and either Alan or Gary Kimbleredlanered said:1985 Junior Reds Christmas Party

I am beginning to think sporadicaddick and tellytubby are correct, I never noticed the slight curve and extra space between the touchline and perimeter wall.SporadicAddick said:
