Needed that. Just need to do Millwall a favour now on Wednesday evening and I think we are safe. Get right in !!!
  • Louis Mendez suggested to Nathan that the guy who floored Lloyd Jones in the first half should have been shown red.  Nathan became very animated saying, 'And thats before the other nine offences ... which he later moderated to five or six.

Nathan said that he constantly pointed this out to the fourth official who couldn't see it.  Nathan concluded that he (himself) obviously knows nothing about football.

Back in the studio they said that Nathan Jones was being very .... Nathan Jones  :)

Pretty much positive all round from me beyond getting the centre midfield right. Tyreece looking much more sharp recently but so isolated when he gets teh ball at times. Carey grew into the game a bit but Doherty completely anonymous. Need one of them to join up more with the front 2.

If our defence is more like this and how they were early in the season though - all concerns of going down feel like they can be relaxed a bit now...

We're 3 points further from relegation. I think I still deserve my promote. And did someone mention custard? 😃
Just as important it’s one less game for everyone to play. You don’t deserve a promote for forgetting to mention that….
    I didn't forget. Just didn't include.

Great performance all over the park. Defensively we are so solid and all of them were outstanding today.

thought Coventry and Carey both put in a decent shift, would’ve liked to have seen Leaburn a bit earlier for Dykes.

    Kelmans finish was quality

1 more win and draw will do it, 48 points will be enough this season I reckon

We were excellent defensively, Mannion very sound, Jones imperious, Ramsay back to his best, Bell good, Clarke too. Chambers I thought was weak but gave his all. A work in progress but light years from a Liverpool first team spot. Good enough for the Championship? Dunno, juries out. No way he displaces a fit Edwards.

Midfield worked hard. Doc does great work off the ball but not so great on it, thought Coventry looked back to his best, Carey ok.

Up front, Dykes worked hard, maybe wasn't his best game but far from poor. TC continues to frustrate me. He can be good but equally poor in the same game. Don't think his body language helps sometimes, ambles around shoulders hunched and looks disinterested although I'm sure that isn't the case. Needs to get some consistency to his performances. Should have scored second half when put through, should have taken it first time but took two touches he didn't need to take. Felt sorry for him though when shoved to LWB, just take him off and get Fevrier on.

Kelman did well when he came on. Worked the channels, won a couple of free kicks and then took his chance very well when it came along. No doubting he's a finisher and comes alive in the box. The rest of his game will come. He's learning and it was great to hear him acknowledge that after the game. Next season he'll fly. A great cameo from Miles too, very mature, kept us up the pitch, unlucky with his chance, it wasn't a great angle.

All in all a good performance and a much welcomed three points. Takes the pressure off a bit, anything at Boro would be welcome then avoid defeat at Oxford. After that a win and a couple of draws would be enough.

Yeah considering the crowd last week and how well we played, was a shocking turnout today - had 3 Americans next to me today who’d clearly never been to a football match in the UK

Lloyd Jones was immense. Great reading of the game, and physical when required. Top performance.
Trying to think of a game where he isn’t like that in the recent past.

Even the games where we were dreadful his reading of the game and physicality stood out. Been
by far our best player this year for me
Player of the Season, to be sure. But people are going over the top on here. In the air he is immense but was beaten twice on the ground by Stansfield .

Just win games, two more should be enough.

Shout out to Kelman who looked sharp when he came on

We're not a great team but we have plenty of fight and enough talent to stay up and that was the aim for this season.

Brum might have been better to play football refer than fouling and rolling on the floor, horrible team.

Yea but it’s a game of football. Players are at times going to get the better of each other.

If no one ever beat jones to anything he’d be the worlds greatest defender

Brilliant Saturday at The Valley - nothing like a big win to totally make your Saturday night.

Back 3 were simply immense. Kaynes showreels were pissing me off after Millwall but after that I’m ready to give him a BAFTA for the next one. Jones is as much of a beast at Champ level as he was in League One. Clarke much better today as well. Put Edwards in that back 5 and we would be solid as a rock at the back.

Mannion does radiate confidence at set pieces it has to be said, even if I don’t think his shot stopping is up to TK. And his distribution is also better.

And even got to meet a couple of lifers on the train on the way back. As I said to them, I think we should have more than enough to get the required points and if I’m saying that, then we must be looking alright!

Great result.  Fair play over the last two games.  My doubts were creeping in and we were getting away with it because of other results.

I think that win should all but see off any threat bar an absolute cataclysmic run of defeats over the next 10 games.  Hopefully we can push on and get to 50 points as quickly as possible.  The win today takes the pressure off Wednesday and we can go up there playing peak communist football if need be.  A defeat today would’ve put us under the kosh.  Oxford is a big one next week.  They’ve hit a bit of form, but strangely I think that makes it more of a Nathan Jones spoiler.  AFKA made a good point above re: the results we’ve had recently against the mid table teams.  Hopefully that means when we hit Bristol City, Preston, they’ve checked out.

Still 10 games to go and a lot of points to play for, but with just 6 points needed, surely we can’t mess this up 🤞

Would that be the record Championship signing at around £15 million plus. Jay Stansfield ?

We could have nicked a point last week and only taken a point today and might have been content with that but would rather have the 3 points

So many good performances particularly the back 3 with the added confidence of a keeper that oozes calm when the ball gets pinged in the box

Kelman took his chance brilliantly and looked much more lively and workmanlike fair play to him

Just get over the line please and kick on

That finish by Charlie boy was phenomenal and a class above anything else on show today, and Nathan needs to start him Wednesday night up at Middlesborough with Dykes...
Special mention for the entire defence, Jones was immense as per, but Bell and Ramsay made up a rock solid defense, in fact the entire team put in a huge shift today with another clean sheet into the bargain, I am looking forward to Wednesday with renewed vigour and confidence we will do better than people seem to think, and collect another point on the road.
In closing, wasn't it nice to shut those Brummie fans the fuck up, and the look of shock on their faces was hilarious when we scored and at the final whistle...😂😂

Totally deserved win - great spirit and determination by the boys. They were better in possession but created  (and were given) nothing. Good NJ substitutions at the right time.
Have been very critical of Ramsey and Kelman this year and justified I think. But, Ramsey had a great second half and I was very impressed with Kelman when he came on and his honesty in the interview on the pitch afterwards.

I know he didn’t have much to do today, but I reckon mannion is better than kaminski
Anyone who says Kaminski is a better keeper than Mannion needs their eyes checking. You say he didn’t do much but he came off his line and claimed 3 or 4 balls which Kaminski would not have done and anyone gambling for Brum at the back stick would have had a clear cut chance. That’s the difference.

Nathan Jones on Charlie Kelman: “He is a goalscorer - a top-level finisher. He is one of the best that I’ve worked with, in terms of his finishing. When he gets an opportunity then he is clean - really, really clean." #cafc

So why have you been starting TC instead.

    Pillock.
The irony in you saying something like this

5 pts further ahead after 36 games than 19/20.

2 more wins boys, 2 more wins.
Noticed you didn't put one up showing goals scored. Joint 2nd worst if you were wondering.

So what does that say about the six teams worse off than us and below us...defence is 50% of the game by the way...🤦‍♂️

No backlift from Kelman on the shot, yet it flew in.
